I usually use a mic that's plugged into a guitar amp and then run the music from my computer into another guitar amp. Are these vocals going straight into a computer program? @HopelessPrinceCharm Thanks so much! I have an AT2020 USB mic running straight into a computer. USB mics are usually not the best for recording musical vocals, but they get the job done for covers at least. I use Garageband on Mac, but if I was running a PC, I'd probably set up Ableton. Good luck!

One more thing - did you record the video with a separate device and then add the GarageBand vocal track over the video on a video editing program (iMovie, etc.), or was this done using a different process?

@HopelessPrinceCharm Yep, I love the simplicity of Garageband. A lot of people underrate it because of its simplicity, but why make something more confusing than it has to be? I record the audio and video at the same time - this is live. I set up a camera, press record, record with my mic, and then when I import into iMovie, I mute the audio from my camera and import the audio of my mic and song as an AAC file into iMovie and line the audio up with the video. :)

@CameronFranchiMusic Perfect! That sounds like a great way to do it. Thanks for sharing your method with me. GarageBand is great, but one thing I struggle with is touching up the vocals. Did you use any of the effects such as speech enhancer to combat any loud noises? Sometimes if I make an 'S' sound, it picks it up very sensitively. Granted, for all my songs, I just sang into the Macbook's built-in speakers, Lol. I'll also definitely need to get a pop filter when I get a USB mic.

@HopelessPrinceCharm No problem. I've found 80% of whether your vocals sound horrible or perfect is all in your EQ. As for "combating loud noises," I'm assuming you're talking about background noises? I don't use speech enhancer or any of those weird "garageband native" effects, they seem like garbage. If there are loud noises in the background, I would throw a noise gate VST on. For 'S' sounds, use a compressor and do a low pass on your EQ at about say... 9 kilohertz or so.

I can scream, mostly fry, but I can yell like Oli Sykes (ew) and Reckless and Relentless Danny Warsnop type yelling. I just don't really like to, I know it can harm your voice slowly and its just not worth it to me because its nowhere near as fun for me.
