  • I wish Rob could sing like this again!!!

  • Best metal live performance of all times.

  • fokin EPIC!!!!! \m/

  • Ripper is an amazingly talented vocalist. Though I didnt care for Demolition or Juggulator that much, I really like Rip's style a lot - should have been a guest on the Epitaph tour, maybe had a duet with Rob on one of the songs from his era.

    Cathedral Spires anyone?

  • Rip did as good as anyone could. Rob is I think the best vocalist rock/metal. Has ever had. Robert Plant aa close 2nd. Rip showed up

  • sadly,, no one can be compared to Rob Halford. Trying to sing one of his songs is just impossible

  • @ttappourokolou It's possible, its just hard to top. You have to hit those insanely diverse notes - and its just near impossible for any human to do 100%...he is the metal god.

Some can come close, I am one of them - I get nervous though - and I admit that I am not as good of an actual singer as I am at getting up to the notes I need if that makes sense. Ripper is an EXCELLENT vocalist, and that isnt an opinion, its a fact. He is charismatic and he gets those notes. Cont in a second comment.

  • with ease. The problem is Rob is SO flamboyant and energetic with Priest (not as much now), that you simply cant follow his act, y'know? It's like when AC/DC had to replace Bon Scott - they debated just breaking up altogether because they simply didnt think it would be possible to replace Bon, but then they got Brian, and he is the next best thing. Ripper is much like Brian in the sense that you cant replace the original, but you can continue the band...continue the legacy.

  • I miss Ripper :/ I saw Priest on this tour when i was 9. Got to see them 3 times :) Fucking LOVE Ripper :)

  • can sum1 tell me whats the song that have drum solo, i know its not "Painkiller"...cant remember the song though...anyone?

  • good old"s metal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • uuuuuoooo

    i'm so afraid

    uuuuuoooo

but i still feed the flame!!!

  • Rob Halford is one of the most sepctacular human beings I've ever seen in my life.

    BUT

That fact won't keep me from respecting this man. Amazing performance. Congratulations.

  • I've listened to every single one of halfords own "live" versions of this song and none of them is as good as this one. Sure, no one can beat the original soundtrack but this is by far the best live version I've ever heard of this very demanding song.

  • nice job with the vocals, the acrobatic things rob did with priest are legendary.

  • 4:39

  • You have to give Owens credit, he was willing to go out and put on a hell of a show, despite knowing it was his last night.

  • The truth is that this guy made Priest heavier and for me it's not a problem. I love all Priest discography and I think 2 albums with Ripper are great too and he is fucking great in live perfomances

  • @HuberttXXX17 That's where many people are wrong. Tim didn't make Priest heavier, because it was Glenn and KK who wrote all the songs on Jugulator and Demolition.

  • Tim is the best metal singer today! It's simple!

  • Seeing judas priest next week and week after that Dio diciples with ripper on vocals.. aint i a lucky boy

  • haha i know a guy who thinks that ripper is better than halford...

  • Doesn't get much better!

  • To all the haters out there!!! Pathetic... you guys are pathetic... Think about it, you have to give credit to The Ripper.. why you ask? Well if Ripper had been the original singer for Judas Priest and Rob the replacement than you would be saying exactly the same thing you guys are saying about Rob.. You'd be saying yeah he is good but Ripper is the Metal God no one can replace him... B/S everybody is replaceable and could even be better than the original... Same shit with everyother band.

  • @locazoenusa @everybody is replaceable@

    i doubt it

we're not talking about factory-work - it's an art, where the main thing - is "individual". U can't replace individual...

how can u replace e.g. Freddy Mercury - it's not just a question of stong voice - it's nuances, feeling of music

Ripper (in my opinion) doesn't have that "feeling" - if he had been the original singer for Judas Priest they would be just "another rock-band among namless thousands"

how can u replace JimMorrison? they're unique

  • @locazoenusa not true look at iron maiden, paul dianno was original singer and everyone agrees that bruce dickinson is much better

  • pathetic vocal((

  • Ripper is not horrible, he is good singer. But Halford is metal god. No one better than Halford

  • ripper is good, but halford is the metal god. but it's still good, very good

  • Comment removed

  • hes too cold for this song

  • This is horrible....he sings some Priest songs ok...But he over does it too much

  • Comment removed

  • hahahahah you call that singing ? he sounds like a goat on crack

  • i can sing anything ripper ever did, lets see him sing stained class

  • Great performance , Halford is better

  • you dont find voices like that anymore in our lovely heavy metal

  • this song is in a different key than the original.

  • @faulesach Yes and it is pretty anoying. Ripper cannot sing as high as Halford, but there are some people who doesn't want to admit it. Ripper is really good, but he struggles with this one. Halford is one of the best vocals ever and the only singer for Judas Priest. Cheers!

  • Owens is a nice singer... but no one can be compared to Rob Halford. God, Halford is one of best singer i've ever heard. His voice always sends me shiver down my spine... And this song is one of the best ever of Judas Priest.

Sorry for my english, i'm italian :)

    JUDAS PRIEST FOR LIFE

  • "Ripper" looks a bit like "Paul Teutul, Jr." (American Chopper) here .-)

  • Halford and Ripper should do a song together.

  • excelent...

  • Tim sings f#cking great. One of the best.

But you cant describe Rob with words.... \m/

  • I totally agree witht he folks here tht Ripper , vocals-wise is probably even better than Rob .... but I think he needs to slightly improve on the "fit" part of it... He somehow doesn't fir into the whole "deadly" image tht the other members of the band, including Halford, carry ... I think over time that may change though...

  • Owens low register is far superior to Halfords, it has more definition. Halford's upper range in his prime, however is unmatched. Nowadays though Ripper owns him in both departments

  • @ak47dragunov Halford is superior in low register too, not just in high. And he has full-blooded, more powerful voice. Why do you thing he got his nickname? Not everyone can be a metal God. He earned it, because he's one of the best vocals in heavy metal. It's like you're comparing Blaze Bayley with Bruce Dickinson. And, even he's like 60 years old, he sings with more power than Ripper.

  • Lol! Pause it at 1:56

  • i got to say, as i like halfords voice better than rippers, i have to give him credit, a great man who lost a great job

  • Owens is nothing more than a Halford wanna be...NOT even close...

  • who is that?

  • Comment removed

  • of course halford is amazing, but owens is undeniably an amazing singer as well, his stage performance could be alot better do, at times it dosnt even look like hes into the song

  • I don't care what anyone says, Priest's double live CD Live Meltdown, Owens belts out some of the finest live Judas Priest I've ever fucking heard! There is only one Rob Halford and there is only one Tim Owens! Ripper's "Diamonds and Rust" is legendary!

  • @DemonDik One of the very best live albums I own. I agree with you a hundred percent.

  • judas halford

  • ecstasy controlls me...

  • owens > haldford

  • lets be real, ripper could never touch halford in his prime. currently i would still rather listen to the sixty year old metal god than ripper owens, but i would rather listen to ripper than pretty much anyone else

  • Bloody hell, before watching the video, I could swear Halford was singing that song, and all the others. He is good!

  • exellent song and exellent performance judas priest the best band

  • Tim is just trying too hard... :|

  • Alem do Ripper cantar bem mais, não precisa falar que é viado pra se auto-promover.

  • tim is a fantastic singer.

  • I have to admit at 4:40 he starts to show some skill

  • ripper is an good singer but he can`t sing priest songs he should stay with malmsteen

    anyway good show

  • I love Halford, but it seems when Ripper entered the band, Priest got a whole new sound. Now they sound so much meaner, and have an extra hard edge to their music. I wanna see Halford and Ripper sing on the same stage together.

  • I love Halford, but it seems when Ripper entered the band, Priest got a whole new sound. Now they sound so much meaner, and have an extra hard edge to their music. I wanna see Halford and Ripper sing on the same stage together.

  • suddenly: Judas Priest are a fukin cool rock band...love it big time -

  • tell me 4:20 on ....is bettr than rob.....omfg!

  • @ozzfann are you fucken deaf ? thats flat, not piercing, not melodic no nothing...listen to robs version of this

  • Ripper fokin Naild it in this 1....wtf!

  • ripper def had the battr "range" in this 1....low n evil/hi's......

LOSE the baseball cap tho bro1....lol

  • I think both of these guys are pretty good, but if I had to choose it'd be Halford. Of course let's not forget without Tipton and Downing there would be no priest.

  • Yeah Ripper ;)

  • his voice much better than halford's..

  • ARE YOU RETARDED

  • for the first time in metal history, a substitute is better than the original singer........

    what an incredible voice.

  • @cmlguerra -.- he is not better than rob halford .l. -.-'

  • these days owen is 100 times better than rob.

owen sings with no efford, rob shits is pants.

  • Halford ..God ? he is a faggot who loves sucking cock .He got a good voice thats about it.

  • judas priest possessing me!

  • Who knew cRAP would take over the music world. My prediction, next will be oompa pah bands.

  • Being much older, I think he experimented singing with almost a brady bunch kind of voice, which I didn't like. Now that he's back, and back to the old style again, I think he's still got it.

  • To each their own. My opinion, Halford had some moments when his heart just wasn't in it. The big trial and coming out as a gay dude took it's toll on him and his ability to perform as great as he had. I saw them twice in the early 80's when I think his voice was at it's best. I think he hold's one of the greatest voices in any kind of music.

  • im sorry but halford might have been there first but owens is a much more powerful singer.

  • Rob and Tim best voice.

  • the most expected part from this song is:

    "YOU'RE POSSESSING ME"

    right? :BB

  • @francoelgorila24

    totaly :D

  • totally, and from hearing it now, gotta say, ripper delivered :)

  • omg, i know u people probally wont believe this... but i think me n my band can be like the next judas priest...kuhz our guitarist is like the complete shiit (hes only 15) and our drummer is badass as fukn hell!!( he just turned 15) and i can sing every judas priest song every pitch!! n im only 14 :) dnt know if u guyz believe that but its true :D

  • I don't quite think it is true, but if it would be, My congrats to y'all : ]

  • Nice man but maybey your voice will change and you will become a man.... :p you are too young and your voice will have more bass.... so you will loose some high note s or your frequency at high area.... But i Hope tha best for you!!!!! :D and for your band... ;-)

  • I'm really surprised, but we all have to admit: Great job Tim!

  • Wow, it seems that this song is so hard to mimic the studio version. It really miss the synth

  • Owens is absolutely awesome.

  • which year did they perform this ?

  • If Halford is God, Owens is Jesus

  • @Leenad666 I couln't agree more with that.

  • haha i agree 100%

  • @Leenad666 lets hope jesus comes again

  • @Leenad666 stupid comment

  • @Leenad666 Very well put. He was awesome in Priest, live and on CD.

  • @Leenad666 Owens is God!

  • @Leenad666 fucking right ! both are one of my favs !

    \m/

  • @Leenad666

    Halford - God!!!!

    Ripper - Demi God!!!!

  • okay, when it comes to priests singers, i like them both the same, the difference, rob is just special.

  • Comment removed

  • ripper owns halford, especially in this song, not in painkiller though halford owns that song

  • how can you say that, first of all halford wrote this song not to mention can sing it in E and when halford left preist there populairity just fell to rock bottom sure ripper can sing and hit those high notes dont get me wrong he is a good singer but you cant say he ``owns`` halford that just makes you sound like a fool

  • @TheHalfordFreak

i can't say that i'm shocked by your reaction, given your user name and all. but ripper for me owns this song. as far as the whole singing in E thing, halfords voice sounds awful when he sings it in E. when he sang with his band Halford they played in D or C and halford sounded less strained and more comfortable.

  • One of the best performances ever.

    Such amazing tuned voice.

Oh my Fucking God I have nothing else to say!

Just cant stop to hear and hail.

  • ripper hash is songs that he nails but there are some that only rob can do. i do like ripper though a lot and will not put the man down. with his hat on though he looks like paul jr. from the american chopper tv series. kinda makes me laugh! his voice is killer and i would love to have him as a front man in my band anyday. judas priest please come and rock the united states soon! all hail the priest!

  • when a major band replaces a lead singer, it is mostly disapointing for the fans. i will say though that ripper's voice was a strong needed ingredient of venom this deadly band needed. this performance is great, rob, though the king priest, has lost his crisp cutting power. ripper has brought it back. not ripping rob at all, just keeping an open mind as a fan.

  • Rob is getting better though, but I agree, Owens brought a great edge to the band when he was with them, even though Demolition pretty much sucked lol

  • Ripper, can sing but yes, HALFORD IS GOD! AND HE IS JUDAS PRIEST!!

  • Halford is superior!

  • Ripper's voice is more suited to the more modern Priest music (all the "classic" records are great with Rob's voice but somehow his voice gets left behind, at least live, by the much heavier sound they have these days). He was definitely right for what they wanted to do at the time - that's just my opinion though. They're both fantastic singers, let's be honest.

  • rob is metal god, ripper is just a good singer

  • Ripper is far better than Halford! i know that because i follow Judas in 30 years

  • Finally, an authorized opinion.

  • your outta your mind

  • if you say so..then you dont know NOTHING

  • @erkjan If you were a real judas fan youd realize that they were both awesome, Listen to Halford younger days the first 2 albums and pay close to attention to his vocals. If you can still say that Ripper is a better singer then Rob than you know nothing about music.

  • @erkjan Ripper my @ss. Rob rules!

  • @erkjan Ripper has no feeling in his vox and growls half the fuckin song like some NU faggot

  • @erkjan you are a fucking plonker, sir.

i know that cause i had coffee this morning. idiot

  • @erkjan so not true.

  • @erkjan sorry, but you cant have followed Judas if you say something like that. I mean Ripper is great but not better than Halford. He´s the GOD!

  • @erkjan Yeap Ripper has got even more skills!

  • I don't give a fuck what anyone says Priest is doing it in this video. They never stopped, and seeing this shit right here them without Rob pumps me up more because they didn't put down the gloves

  • That's the spirit, god bless you dear metalhead.

  • @sharerx lol hes pissed

  • GREAT VOICE BUT ROB RULES MAN..

  • aha on a completely unrelated note in this video tim owens looks a lot like larry the cable guy

  • not that it makes a difference but priest has never played with dropped tuning, they just downtuned to c standard for the ripper years

  • He is a good vocalist, but Rob Halford is as irreplacable as Ozzy or James Hetfield. More so in my opinion, he is one of a kind, and thius guy makes priest sound like fucking nu-metal with their dropped tunings. What makes priest, priest is that they always maintained the british metal sounds in their tunes. It's lost here. BUT NOW IT'S BACK!!!

  • Doesn't sound a bassy as the studio version did. By the way, that doesn't look like rob.

  • Am I the only who noticed how HEAVIER Priest got while under Ripper?? You hear the tuning it's much lower which gives the music a deeper, heavier ,darker sound. I figure it's to compensate for Ripper who's vocals are slighter lower than Halford's during the lower vocal parts. But in a way I kinda liked the heavy Priest lol

  • im with you on that one man...always have been

  • Right on man! Hell yeah

  • Halford is not a god, he's human and Owen is as good as was Halford at his age.

  • Finally a decent coment, wrote with brains and not with the ass. Thanks dude, I totally agree !!

  • Tim Owens is a great singer. He ain't as good as Rob Halford, but I think the main problem with Owens is just that the majority of their material they wrote with Owens just sucked. He's surprisingly good at singing their classics though. He's just still not as good as Rob Halford, but there is no shame in not being as good as the Metal God.

  • rob is a god...but Ripper is a VERY VERY good singer!!!

  • ripper is a good singer but that cap......

  • Judas priest Live for ever

  • even rob sings better this than ripper bouuu

  • wheres rob?

  • Ripper is awesome as well as Rob.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, no, he is not half as brilliant as the metal god. Nice singer though.

  • I don't like his version of the song. Rob #1

  • when he hit that note at 4:43 then I knew I could give him his props. Ripper is pretty fucking cool.

  • 4:21 - 4:23 Ripper puleld a halford

remember halford was rippers main influence

  • EXELENTE LA VOZ!! MUY BUEN TEMA

  • Everybody has his own opinion and meaning about Ripper. Fact is that there wouldn't have been a London gig those days if it wasn't for him. Although Judas Priest IS Rob Halford, i think Tim tried his best and he did a pretty good Job if you ask me...

  • yep.

  • no ones contesting that

  • no me gusta como suenan las guitarras

muy blandas, sin poder, ni cerca a como suena en estudio..no me guta

  • ...

Suenan blandas en esta cancion xD

    vos tocas guitarra?

  • Ripper is better. Why?. Coz he is younger than Rob.

Rob was great like Ripper now, when he was 20-35 year old.

For vocalist age is important. After when you are 45 years old your voice change coz your vocal strings are not that elastics and strong like before, the same with your lungs. james hatfield vocal has changed, tom araya too. Ripper Owns, Rob- Respect.

  • very true, 1 complaint, tom araya never had a good voice... everything else make your rant very applicable

  • +1

    100%

Rob better than Ripper? i don*t like him.

  • have you heard ripper's solo?

  • That's a matter of opinion. I like the Ripper

  • I do to, I mean hes no Halford. but he does a good job.

  • man ripper sticks out like a sore thumb. He belongs at a ball game with that stupid hat.

  • alright???

  • Ror Harfold was much better!

  • Is This Ripper Owens?
