lonelypeacock, it would be nice if you could add "Gavioli" and "fairground organ" to the tags of this video so more people can find it. Thank you.
This organ is not actually located on King Arthur's carousel, but rather in a special building next to the Dumbo ride. The same recordings of the organ + new synth arrangements are played both here and at the carousel, which has a replica Wurlitzer 157 organ facade with speakers (the actual 157 organ was sold to a collector in the '80s).
For years, I went nuts trying to figure out where the music was playing from and this past year I finally realized that it was coming from that little building by Dumbo's ride. :)
I'd actually love to find a recording of the entire compilation of songs for this calliope, but I've only been able to find or record bits and pieces thus far.
Hi, I don't know if he does, but I do. This is not a calliope, but is rather a 65-key Gavioli fairground organ in a new case.
It was computerized in the 1970's with an electronic Peterson pipe organ controller replacing the usual cardboard book music. This is when most of the Disney music was recorded (from this actual organ, in special arrangements). However, the post-1970's Disney music you hear is synthesized and not actually recorded from the organ. The organ itself no longer plays.
Thats not a calliope!!!
