@JediRebelKid Then again at least Degrassi took itself seriously (most of the time), and didn't talk down to its audience (most of the time). Remembering Captain Planet now, I couldn't tell if they were being serious, or if it was parody, because I doubt that the show had no idea who they were trying to appeal to. Some episodes went way over the heads of children, and the ham-fisted approach that it took would've turned off most people over the age of like six or so.
@KiwifruitPixie I hated Captain Planet. I didn't understand Environmentalism at all as a 5 year old. I think maybe they were pandering more towards the parents rather than the kids. I found nothing appealing about an environmentally-conscious guy who wasn't kicking the living dogshit out of someone every five minutes but perhaps my parents did.
@JediRebelKid But the parents were probably bored shitless, too. In fact, anyone over the age of six would be bored and/or offended by the way Captain Planet talked down to the audience and took the sledgehammer of environmentalism to any viewer's face.
Anyone who gets drunk enough to walk on a ledge (especially being aware that you have consumed a mind altering beverage) deserves to fall painfully to their death.
LOL at Tim Allen talking about being a supplier when he himself was a former snitching ass coke dealer.
@JediRebelKid Well... I take people like that who tell me not to do drugs more seriusly than those that didn't. Those that did really do know what their talking about. My aunt used to date a guy who was on the needle and smoked pot a lot. But he was the sweetest guy. He always told me and my sister, he never wanted to see us with a cigaret or pot or anything drug related. Ofcourse we were to little to even know what he was talking about at the time but later it stuck with me.
This video serves as an excellent cautionary tale for parents: Don't Let Your Children Grow Up To Write For Television. The results could be ugly. This and more on a very special episode of TV Gude Presents.
Urkel was saved from splattering into the street below by grabbing onto the ledge. Trouble is, the ledge is so far below the roof that it's not much safer than landing on the pavement. After falling a few feet he'd be whizzing by too fast to grab without tearing off his fingers.
Also, has anybody else noticed TBS runs a promo with her screaming "I'm so excited!" like it's a good thing? They must have not even seen the episode for themselves and it's weird every time I see the promo because it's such a sad scene and they totally misused the clip.
The episode of Fresh Prince when they get robbed and Will gets shot, and the episode of Home Improvement with Randy's cancer scare always made me teary eyed since a kid. I can't believe they didn't include that Fresh Prince one, though. It was the most serious episode of all in the series.
@shrek187 it just meant that he was doing poorly in school because he was dyslexic, not because he was stupid. :/ he was trying really hard and not getting great results. so it was kind of a relief.
Cripes,Cosby couldn't even take a "Very Special Episode" seriously.
