I remember having this vinyl, with its multi-coloured shapes on the record. Many great memories relating to this album. Definitely a classic 80's record.

@1957kevy Hi Kevin, I'm in contact with Rob from Failsafe Records. I've provided one unearthed video ('Jumping Out A Window') which is found on my 'nzoz1981' channel and I have the clip for 'Private Military', which I will be passing on to Rob. I really like Pop Mechanix and I'm sorry that you guys had to change your name due to Popular Mechanics. I hope the Pop Mechanix compilation gets a proper release in Australia - it's a ripper! Cheers, Ryan (nzoz)
My favourite song on 'True Colours"! I must've worn the vinyl out when I got the album, I played this track so many many times. Hauntingly beautiful vocals by Tim Finn and Eddie Rayner's brilliant piano playing gets a fine showcase here. The ultimate heartbreak song of all time and one of Split Enz's finest achievements in songwriting.
Beautiful song, very haunting. Top band. My eldest brother used to go & see them all the time & said they were always excellent. He mentioned one gig where they supported Bowie in 1978 (at Bondi Pavillion, I think he said) where they looked & sounded mad, dressed up in their coloured theatrical Pierrot-like costumes & bouncing giant coloured inflatable beach balls around the stage & into the crowd.
@vanessamcqueen11 Yeah these guys were soo different to everyone else. I don't know how they physically survived in New Zealand looking like that in 1980 :) Awesome band that i'll never forget. Good voices and talented artists. Good comment VanessaMcQueen ;)

Great song, used for an Australian movie classic Puberty Blues 1981. Any-one who has seen this, will know. And No-Body Takes Me Seriously another Split Enz song!! Well done.
There wasn't a video for Charley/ie. It became a crowd fave at their live shows (says someone who's been at a few too many on either side of the Tasman, LOL)
have you tried adding &fmt=18 at the end of this video's URL. Just copy and paste &fmt=18 at the end of the URL and see the sound quality that it produces.

As songs go, I hope I never have to go without this song now that I've heard it.
But, not having heard it, means I wouldn't miss it if it never happened.
Life goes on. As it does whilst not having heard other songs that would help to satisfy.
My life without these songs that I have enjoyed becomes emptier without them if they were to go.
And then I think of all that I haven't heard, and realise that waking up each day is worthwhile.

Great song, used for an Australian movie classic Puberty Blues 1981. Any-one who has seen this, will know. And No-Body Takes Me Seriously another Split Enz song!! Well done.

re Charlie -
thanks for your answer.
I'm from pre-YT-age and whatever else have you with modern means.
Couldn't you post the song without a video

@nzoz1980
There wasn't a video for Charley/ie. It became a crowd fave at their live shows (says someone who's been at a few too many on either side of the Tasman, LOL)

This is such a lovely song, and watching these old Split Enz videos is great. Thanks for posting it up there.

have you tried adding &fmt=18 at the end of this video's URL. Just copy and paste &fmt=18 at the end of the URL and see the sound quality that it produces.
