Could you please do a video on potty training? Jaxon is 16 months now, I sit him on the potty when he is having "nuddy" time (running around the house with no nappy on to air his skin), but he hasnt done any wees in the potty yet. Pretty please :)
@overweightpregnant I can but I really don't do anything. I just offer the potty at ever nappy change, most times she doesn't use it but when she does we clap and cheer and she gets really excited. She also see's me using the toilet and her sister.
It is neat that she seems to be advanced in her potty experience but remember that (and I am sure you experienced this with Lacey) it is kind of a "2 steps forward ... one step back" thing so expect the unexpected. :) parenting is never a dull moment..
@vivsgran Oh yes I know that, we are no way near undies yet but I am glad she is showing positive signs to knowing when she has been or is about to go.
@alandamandamama Yes I agree, when Lacey says she needs th etoilet, Felicity runs to get the potty for her to use. She sometimes hears Lacey before I do and has the potty set up ready to go :)
Awww she's doing really well! I am a Nanny and one of my charges, now 5, was exactly like this at 18 months. And yes by two he was fully in pants and dry through the night too! Third child I have now is 2.3yrs and Is very interested in the potty but nothing as of yet but I keep encouraging! Funny how they really are all different. Will be fab for you to just have the 1 in nappies when your new little ones arrives!
@DVDeMm Yes, they are so different aren't they. It will be a huge bonus if I only have one in nappies. When I had Lacey and Felicity both in nappies I found it hard, I am glad it only took a few months and then Lacey was in undies.
when the verbal skills ( or signing) is there and the parent is attentive to the cues.,and the awareness of their body functions are all in place, there is bound to be success.. Looks like Felicity has them all. What a handful "mindful parenting" is with two little ones.. and soon three.. but I am sure you are up to it. It is a joy to watch you parent and the result in your happy children. Kudos!
@vivsgran Thanks, yes it is already hard to juggle the two (imagine 3! lol) but I am up for the challenge. Just like in this video, Lacey was still wanting to play marbles with me and I am pottying Felicity at the same time, add another NB to that mix with nursing and nappy changes and I am going to be one busy Mumma, but oh so happy :)
How cute was THAT!!!! WOW...sure looks like Felicity is READY!!! She knows EXACTLY what to do on that potty! And...she's pretty SERIOUS about it too!!! I think she will be using that potty all the time well before she turns 2 by the looks of things! You can see she is tuned into her body's signals! Very interesting the way some kids are ready so much sooner than others! But..I am a firm believer that you do have to wait until they ARE ready! Then jump in and really encourage them!
@amishhorse Yes, that is true, I tried potty training Lacey in my time two times before she was ready and it just didn't work. I waited a month and then she was ready and it was SO much easier, I really didn't have to do anything but ask if she needed to go. Felicity has done this all herself, I haven't been pushing it, just sitting her on the potty at nappy changes every now and then.
Awww how sweet of her. Id' love to see a video about how to potty train. Our first and only baby is 13 months soon and im trying to get all the info i can before we start to make it a success!
@welly0wobbler When they are ready it is really easy, if they aren't ready it will take ages and become a stress. One thing to help them be used to going on a potty or toilet is to sit them on it at their nappy changes. Obviously not every nappy change but at least once a day, a good time is when you are running their bath, sit them on the potty and sometimes the water running helps them to wee :)
@LaureninPortland Yes I think they could but I also think it is just the childs personality too. Felicity has been signing and telling me she needs certain things since 6 months old, she has been good at communicating what she wants.
@summerchic21 Yeh, Felicity also does that but it is becoming more common for her to tell me just before she needs to go. At least she is telling you, I think thats great.
That's fantastic! Do you have any tips for someone looking to potty train a 16 month old?
