oO.. the other comments make me feel old.. lol.. I read John Carter of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs when I was a kid.. known as the Barsoom series, they were pulp paperbacks. He also wrote Tarzan. There is an earlier attempt to bring this story to the screen, low budget, starring Traci Lords as the Queen of Mars (no its not a porn, but the dialogue is almost as bad.. lol)
@AlvinValkenheiser not just violent...its also overwhelmed with sexual references, disney is not for children so i suggest not letting little ones get attached
@Ndesire John Carter is used to Earth's gravity so when he goes to Mars which has lower gravity, he can jump higher. Like, If you live on the moon your whole life you would walk around normal while a guy from Earth who suddenly shows up would be bouncing around you all day
Uh... The Asylum is responsible for making one halfway decent film in the whole history of the company: Princess of Mars. It's based on a novel, but whatever, it's still their best. This is the high budget version.
@TheNewDaySucks Lucas credited the creation of Star Wars to Flash Gordon. Not John Carter. Also the majority of Sci-Fi is based off the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep."
@nny156 Not star wars Dangit I forgot the movies name but anyway john carter inspired the majority of romantic sci fi but anyway the whole book is more of a western/romance/adventure/sci fi which was pretty rare for the time in which it was written to bad people will still say it copied movies even though the book was written first
so who came first, the avatar or john carter?
