HOW TO DEACTIVATE A HIJACK VIRUS

If you can't figure out how to remove it, you can do a non-destructive restore with a backup partition. All your files will be safe in the backup. Just don't use the backup to restore settings and programs, as malware and minor bugs can re-infect that way. Once the malware is safely isolated in the partition, run a virus scan on all drives. It will identify a non-active version of the virus and quarantine it. I've done this several times now.
