  • Oh yum, I don't generally eat fried food, BUT, how I wish I knew you and this was for dinner. Must have been fantastic.

  • I remember in the 50's and 60's we had friends who got abalone in Monterey, Moss Landing areas. My gramma fixed it the same way and served with lemon and homemade tartar sauce. Those were the days! Yum.

  • Whooo! I'm coming to your house for dinner! :) My family and I are getting ready to move to Fort Bragg, CA. I heard there is amazing diving there!

Thank you for posting all of your videos about how to shuck, clean and cook an abalone. It's so helpful!! I will definitely be referring back to these when I bring home abalone! :)

  • @xMrCustom24x ....The ones we get can only be taken in 5 counties in northern California. You have to freedive for them (5 to 40 feet)...or rock pick them on minus tides...

  • @abaloneten Is it easy to find them at minus tides rock picking?

  • @Robkat3751 I wouldn't say it was easy; however, many seekers do..

  • @Robkat3751 I wouldn't say it was easy, but, many seekers do rockpick them...

  • @asutn americans fry EVERYTHING

  • @frewcc that's a really intelligent thing to say. youre obviously an authority on all things american.

  • This just looks absolutely delicious!

  • so whats the price on abalone, in us dollars thats is?

  • @btesh69 ...Priceless, as it cannot be harvested for commercial purposes..black market...higher than drugs...and, a tough jail sentence when caught...

  • thats crazy, ok did not know that, im from north carolina, i really wouldnt know that, love your vids though, keep em up, im a huge sea food guy! love it!

  • @abaloneten wellit could be farmed

  • @12ock Yes, it is farmed..However, the abalone are harvested at about 3-4 inches...Lucky to get a steak out them....

  • @12ock I have seen some videos on you tube now that they are farmed, looks like if they expanded their operations there would be a huge swell in populations again

  • @abaloneten if it is priceless, why coat it in bread and fry it in grease?

  • Yumm!

  • That is how I do it as well erick yum yum, I think that is the best way, especially the next day on two peices of white bread with some tarter suace oh yum.

  • That's the best way to cook abalone. Simple recipe but the abalone flavor is the best this way.

    Nicely done.

  • i really need to try abalone.

  • Yum!

This gives me some ideas. My method thus far has been simply pounding the abalone and coating with Ritz crackers in butter. One friend loves to put the whole abalone in a pressure cooker - but I haven't tried that yet either.

Love your videos. Last year was my first season and can't wait to get in the water here soon!

    thanks!

  • To each his own....

  • ...I have prepared abalone every which way conceivable. We never have left overs when preparing by flash frying...Check out the recipe page and view other abalone recipes...
