Government spends 14 trillion dollars, now we're in an economical debt. And it all conveniently happens when Obama gets elected into office. What's that telling us. It's telling us OBAMA IS WRONG. I'm not taking sides, I'm just saying Obama needs to get out of office FOR THE SAKE OF THE PEOPLE!
WHY did u people who voted for obama have to vote for him when he got elected a whole bunch of things went wrong. NOT TRYING TO BE RACIST but some of people voted for him because he was gonna be the first black president no i thought that was gonna be cool UNTIL . ALOT OF PEOPLE LOST THERE HOUSES. im going through a tough time moneys tight for me but for welfare peple it sure must be amazing for u buts its hell paying for the welfare people . IM ONLY12 yeah 12 and i want to freakin scream!
Thats Obama's fault? Are you shitting me? He is one man with very little power all he can do is pass or veto bills. The work is done by the millions of government employees. How many times did he try and pass a law to help you? countless. but republicans kept swatting them down and filibusterering everything. Face it regardless of who is in president you will have a shit life.. its called a repression. deal with it like the rest of America. Economies go up and down.
I fukken hate Obama so much hate in my heart for a man who is for the killing innocent babies one of the main reasons he needs to go influencing libral shit!
I fukken hate people who can't understand simple freedoms. Obama is NOT for killing babies. He is for women
having rights over their own bodies. How can this even be a debate? Women have a right over their own bodies period end of discussion. Its not like it's Disneyland for women. People get raped, people have trouble giving birth and their life are at stake, people need abortions period. Grow up
Let's not forget what TurboTax spokesman Timothy Geithner said at the G20 Summit last week - he advised other Nations to prepare their economies - that America will no longer be "consumers" and to deal with it accordingly. Apparently someone at the White Mosque knows American consumers are broke before they do?
"If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin." -Samuel Adams
IN CHINA WHEN A LEADER SAYS YES, NOBODY OPENS THEIR MOUTH AND SAYS NO! IN USA REPULICANS SAY NO TO EVERYTHING! WE CANT ,MOVE FORWARD AS A COUNTRY IF REPUBLICANS PLAY GAMES! WE NEED DISCIPLINE , MEANS SUCCESS! CHINESE INSTEAD OF SAYING NO THEY OPEN NEW FACTORIES AND BECOMING CAPITALISTS, BUT OUR REPUBLICANS SOON WILL WORK FOR CHINESE COMPANIES. AND WHAT AM I SUPOSED TO DO? AMERICAN PEOPLE PLZ HELP USA!
@democratsaresmart moving forward to communist isn't an option. it must be blocked at all points.
For obama and the democrats to borrow the trillions China made a deal with obama and the democrats. They must destory America from within, turn America communist, and allow more products made in china to flow to America. Send more American jobs to china.
garrr wht is this nonsense..... wtf.... r ppl rly this stupid? u get taken in by the cult with no knowledge- this is the american deception- that Obama's bad and hasn't done us any good... Gosh people do u even follow current events or is it, " hey that looks cool, let's jump on the bandwagon."
obama and his liberal socialism-worshipping thugs are a necessary mistake, so that we will never have another one like this idiot in the WH, ever again.
I want Obama and everyone else to know that when he spoke out against Terry Jones right to freedom of speech, he lost my support. Clinton and Palin also lost my support. Mr. Jones has every right to burn books, which are his property, if he wishes to do so. I will be voting for RON PAUL in 2012. Thank you.
@chadpopstar what are YOU talking about? President Obama stated that he doesn't like the idea, but Jones had every right to do so. If you listened to the entire story more, and Fox News less, you would know that
People were warned. They would not listen. They still will not listen to facts that are right in front of our faces. It will be the demise of this country. Those who do not want to listen or be bothered will be the ones that scream the loudest when things really get bad. You were warned. Do not play the blame game. You get what you deserve when you are indifferent and apathetic.
It is NOT just change. People wanted RESPONSIBLE change! This is insane! Before you vote, specify what kind of change you want. Do not accept blindly a chant that sounds good. Get informed. That means different resources. People do perish from a lack of knowledge. That is our part of being RESPONSIBLE!
I will remember, in November and forever. I'm a registered independent, but I'll cut my hand off rather than ever vote for any Democrat again after the unforgivable things that they have done over the last two years.
I want the budget balanced, and socialism permanently abandoned. I want the borders sealed, and the illegals sent home. I want limited government, not intrusive government. I want a government where no one is above the law, not one where the party in power makes up the rules as th
@jrrwolf Socialism permanently abandoned? So you believe we should do away with Social Security and Medicare? Just abandon the disabled and indigent elderly? Tough luck grandma, you'll just have to live on the street and eat at soup kitchens if you don't save enough to retire.

there is so much hate in this ad. it spews lies and ads to the animosity. when you have 8 years of ignorance and bad decesions to overcome, things will not change over night. time will show that the will of the american people who voted in Obama was not ignored. that he has done the right thing. instead of hating each other, let us support our leader so that he can create the future he promised us. we can never prosper unless we stand together, united as america.
@supersoraya623 can you get real for a second. Quit reverting to this airy fairy "we can't hate eachother" nonsense. The RGA doesn't hate obama, although some who criticize ANY public figure may (just like the lefties who hated George Bush) But the abrasive tone of the ad doesn't mean that Obama isn't spending us into a third world status, passing bills in the dead of night that the majority of Americans don't want, and being a total incompetent leader during the oil spill crisis. sheeeesh
@supersoraya623 In case you hadn't noticed the economy did not go bad until the Democrats took control after the 2006 midterm elections.
Oh, and name ONE lie in this ad.
If you want to talk about adding to the animosity, I think you liberals and the ACTUAL lies you spread about our former president pretty much set the bar on that.
The Democrats may not have done what was popular over the last two years. They have done whats right. Providing healthcare to millions, bringing our country back from the brink, and charting a new course for America. Their critics have done a lot of whining, but they don't have any new ideas or plans. What will the Republicans do? The same thing they have always done: Nothing.
@Hahntin989 They did NOT bring us back from the brink!!! Things are WORSE now than they were when they took over. If you didn't like Bush, you should HATE Obama. EVERYTHING that Bush did wrong - Obama has increased it exponentially.
Everything that Bush did good, Obama has eliminated.
gotta love the only liberal argument "so you want bush back what a good plan"
NO YOU LEFT-WING IDIOTS! we want our country back; we want fiscal responsibility, a secured border, a president who stands up for us not bows.. that's what we want
@ofcccaddy2004 wat about ppl being able to marry who they want, doing what they want with their body, and not having religion shoved down our throats?
@FlyinSpaghettiMnstr7 double talk.. you want socialism? move. there's plenty of countries out there for you.. in america we have values.. marriage is a man and a women. marijuana is a gateway drug to other drugs. legalizing it would make the people in this country more idiotic then they already are. why do you need marijuana? and no one said we want to shove religion down your throats.
@ofcccaddy2004 values? it's bigotry...marriage is th union of multiple partners, pot KEEPS you from doing other drugs, thats like saying milk leads to beer, also, pot helps ppl when their sick, then can't get help because morons like u let them die...religion is on money, u cant buy sex toys in some states, cant buy beer on sundays in some states, cant marry more than 1 person (even pretend to), cant marry the same sex, and if the conservatives got their way having sex with the same sex would ..
I hate to but in into your conversation but I just thought you should know that America swings favorably "ideology" wise more to progressive liberalism. the majority of America is pro-choice, supports gays and gay marriage and is for legalizing marijuana. when republicans block a bill saying its what the people want, they are lying. Polling and facts show other wise. Just thought I'd help you out there with facts. k bye.
it must really drive you people nuts that barack obama is considered the 16th best president and he hasn't even gone half a term. Hell he beat out reagan.
@wscbostonredsox Yeah, especially that one in the White House, blaming Bush all the time. When is he going to pull up his big boy pants and take responsibility? Never? Got it. Who's the bitch?
@trevtenbrink Lowest taxes in 50 years is EXTREMELY misleading. It sounds wonderful. It makes Obama seem like a great leader when, in fact, this statistic shows the opposite. Consider this: all Americans unemployed pay zero taxes, which for the last two years has been increasing. This means that the overall amount of tax dollars by Americans is extremely low because so many are simply not paying any taxes. Obviously, this doesn't mean he did well for Americans.
Obama, like every President since JFK's murder is a puppet of the shadow government and the bankers. I think the difference between him and GWB is Bush actively co-operated with the NWO, while Obama seems to want to forestall it when and where he can -though unless he wants to become the next JFK, with his "al-Quaeda assassination" used to suspend the Constitution and invoke martial law, what can he do.
Ron Paul is the man for 2012 if you want real freedom and prosperity to return to the USA.
I like how people on here are actually trying to argue that taxes WON'T go up. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that all the money Obama is spending has to come from somewhere (unless of course they're just going to print more). Just the fact that someone would come on here and try and argue against most of the points in this video is beyond me. It just goes to show that what's so blatantly obvious to one person, is invisible to another, sadly.
Nancy Pelosi's "We need to pass the bill to find out what's in it" was pretty clear to me. I've got another quote for you:
The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.
--Josph Goebbels, Nazi propaganda minister
This tactic remind you of anyone? I'll help you out: "Yes we can."
@VigilanceOfFreedom Actually, it does remind me of Boehner, Palin, and rest of those crazy nutbag righties, "death panels, death panels, death panels" "higher taxes, higher taxes, higher taxes" "govt takeover govt takeover govt takeover"...none of those are true. Do you need more? How bout Rush and his repeated use of the word "regime"?
@VigilanceOfFreedom How bout Becks repeated use of revolutionary imagery and ideas. Hell, even says revolution all the time. What about his repeated use of words like, "Nazism, Socialism, Marxist". You've already drank all of the Kool-aid, so don't try to tell me that an innocuous chant (a rally-cry) is propaganda! I get it. You OBVIOUSLY do not.
@VigilanceOfFreedom By taking quotes out of context (the one that sticks out in my mind is the Al Sharpton quote towards the end) is part of propaganda too. Also, propaganda is usually untrue, like this BS. Do you honestly believe that the Repugnants didn't know that they were baiting the left with a video that sounds ominous looks ominous and then at the end they use imagery of a movie based on the repetition of a terrorist act? Are you effing kidding me or are you just dumb?
@VigilanceOfFreedom Oh, Daddy's taxes are up? Hmmmmm...you must've missed the USA Today front-page article that showed that Americans are paying the lowest amount of taxes in 50 yrs. On the assumption that your father was working in the 80s and 90s, he's still paying less taxes than he was back then. In addition, do you know exactly how much money your dad is making.
About the AZ law, Obama is not saying it's racist. He's saying that he's concerned that it will lead to racial profiling....
@VigilanceOfFreedom It only takes one stupid cop to stop one legal resident without "reasonable suspicion" for this law to be overturned. Additionally, the states do not have concurrent jurisdiction to enforce federal borders. Period. It just doesn't exist.

"It's not about Obama/ Bush" - lol, of course not - Bush won't be running against Obama. It IS about party politics. Doesn't anyone know this is just an ad made by the Republican Governors? Also - they don't have the balls to put it on TV...its here on YouTube specifically FOR the people who are "drinking the kool-aid" (not for general consumption, even by republicans (its just that nutty...))
It's not about Obama/ Bush, Dem/Republican. It is about liberty to thrift, industry, and righteousness or bondage through overcomsumption, laziness and wickedness.
The constitution was written for a Godly people and is wholly inadequate for the governing of any other.
@mariposapka Blah blah blah blah. Welcome to reality. We can't have utopia. "The constitution was written for a Godly people and is wholly inadequate for the governing of any other".....ever hear of freedom of religion? Ever here of the Bill of Rights and subsequent amendments? The founding fathers made the constitution amendable so that we can add/change it as time progresses and new needs develop.

Righteousness and liberty or wickeness and socialism. The choice isn't Obama's it's ours.
@Ma3lst0rm, Are you too naive as to understand that it is the same guile that led the people of this country to despise George W Bush? Apparently you weren't paying attention. lol
let's throw obama and the dems out so we can go back to the glorious years of bush/cheney with unregulated greed and ever expanding militarism - the republican glory days - greed and war. yee-haw!!!
@stevethrasher I'm only saying that bombing the president with gunpowder sounds a little extreme to me...also THIS is the kool-aid and someone's liable to drink it and attempt something crazy like those typically conservative Hutaree did not long ago in Michigan...inciting terrorism is bad whether it is liberal or conservative...also - what makes me so liberal? Just because I don't think the president has done anything that calls for assassination? I'm just not a partisan extremist like some.
IF you don't think our freedom in in jeopardy start reading more history - don't just listen to the sound bites on blogs. Read Burke on the French Revolution, read about the Cuban revolution, Lenin, Mao and the beat goes on. Don't be a frog slowly boiled. Keep up the discussion. Keep reading but open your yourself to being wrong, to learning. Security and freedom are on opposite sides of the scale. Risk is part of freedom. The security Obama is offering is just a new slavery.
@averyblessedguy I'm sure Burke would roll in his grave if he could witness "Papers, Please!", the new Terrorist Expatriation Act, warrantless wiretapping, the Iraq war, and PATRIOT, all of which were championed by neo-conservatives. In fact, the man who wrote the modern conservative bible - Russell Kirk - openly broke with the neocons before his death.
You do realize that the men driving the GOP agenda - Kristol, Podhoretz, Fukiyama et al. - are all former socialists, right?
@averyblessedguy I'm not sure that's relevant. I agree that 'The Conservative Mind' is a respectable, scholastic work. I own a copy. Some of Burke's writings are aligned with my values, and some are not. Since I don't believe in Providential Law, I don't consider myself a conservative, but that doesn't mean I agree with Rousseau or Marx, either.
Political philosophy is born of perspective; it is rare when it survives the ages. That which does should operate as ballast, not gospel.
@miles7470 sounds fair. Your last statement I could agree with but it begs the question of where are your anchor points. If you discard a Providential Law or absolute what do you hold as normative to guide you?
@averyblessedguy Wow, that's tough in 500 characters. Let's begin by saying that the code is not the question; it's the origin. My hypothesis is that social organization is a selectable trait, even though that has yet to be demonstrated and therefore requires skepticism. Nevertheless, it's not too far-fetched: social structures lead to stability, defense, propinquity, and ultimately propagation. Successful social structures get passed on through culture. Burke becomes a value proposition.
Observe the direction we are headed: expansive government control, regulation, social engineering, broad entitlements -- all of which restrict and reduce freedom and liberty... the very principles that foster and support equality, charity, true hope, and opportunity for all.
Elitist corrupt politicians pushing an agenda over the will of the people because they insist they know better and the public will learn to like it is unacceptable.
@parish32 Can you convince me of why I should vote for Paul? I agree with a lot of his domestic political and economic sentiments, but his foreign policy would appear to likely get us all killed within 6 months.
@Halo4Lyf They attack us because we are over there. So, we suggest that we come home and initiate a Peace Core effort in the middle-east. It would be more effective than killing them, while they have no media to tell them anything, so they become convinced that we are trying to take over their country. They look at al-qeda and the taliban as freedom fighters. I think the best thing to do, at this point, is to just come home and secure our borders. It will save a bunch of money, too.
@parish32 This is so painfully naive and uninformed that I have trouble believing you are serious. First off, the Muslim world has multiple independent news organizations, and almost universal access to news from around the world via cheap satellite TV. The average MIddle Eastern Muslim is entirely capable of getting opposing viewpoints. Second, you seem to be confusing the Af-Pak theater of operations with the Arab world. They are not synonymous.
@parish32 Lastly, do you understand why we support the monarchies in the Gulf States? Because LARGE percentages of their populations are unrepentant fundamentalists who are anti-Western. If we don't have some sort of presence to support the existing governments in the Gulf, those governments will be overrun by their own fundamentalist population, and we will hand the greatest weapon to the Islamists they have ever had: 40% of the world's oil.
I'm stunned by how many people can be swayed by this kind of trash, even in the face of the Arizona legislation, the GOP refusing to work on financial reform, and the plain lack of substance to many of the falsehoods being circulated. Do you really believe Michelle Bachmann when she talks about internment camps? Do you believe Sarah Palin when she threatens you with 'Death Panels'? When does their credibility suffer?
The GOP needs to stop treating their supporters like idiots.
@miles7470 Perhaps you would be better informed if you READ the "Financial Reform", "Health Care" and "Arizona" legislation documents. It isn't a question of BELIEVING what someone says is in these documents; it is a question of UNDERSTANDING what is actually there. Do yourself a favor; put away the remote, put down the Kool-Aid and learn some history and the facts of our founding documents. Or not. See, in a "free country", it's up to YOU.
@SurlyMac I love the interwebs, it makes my morning coffee so much more entertaining...
My comment referred to the video posted; you seem to have branched off in another direction, making assumptions about my beliefs and lack of understanding. I guess you have an agenda. Or perhaps you believe the substance of the ad? Frankly, I'm always suspicious when people tell me to read legislation or "founding documents" because that is an indication they haven't. Be careful about projection.
Are you denying the fact that the US government rounded up Japanese Americans and put them in "War Relocation Camps"? FDR Executive Order 9066. The US Census Beureau handed over confidential information to assist in finding them. 62% per US citizens.
What is it with liberals and history? What other falsehoods do you want to discuss?
@csgforme Who says I'm a liberal? And even if I am, what does that mean? Liberalism is a form of government that bestows liberty on its citizens, as opposed to an autocracy. But even beyond that, the use of labels as a method of demonization is disrespectful and a characteristic of limited ideas.
If you're paranoid about the Japanese internment camps after WWII, we could also discuss slavery or, more recently, the PATRIOT Act.
@csgforme Actually, I was mocking your craziness. There have been six decennial censuses since WWII, what is so special about this one?
Every 40 years or so the wingnuts come crawling out of the woodwork, shocked at the state of society. And it's the same people driving the stampede - Norquist, Armey, Koch, and Scott - that caused the mess in the first place. But now they need you to create a furor and prevent the mess from being cleaned up. Pitiful...
I've never been concerned about the census, and my familiy has always answered the questions asked.
Whats special about this one? Now we have the Patriot Act, now we have mandated healthcare, now we have gov controlled student loans, 96.5% of all mortgages are owned by the gov.
Life without government interaction is dwindling, and I'm going to preserve the little privacy they give me.
@csgforme Oh yes, feign indifference: that is always helpful to one's credibility in a debate. I'm finding that a lot of people who swallow web ads like these (that was the point of this post) haven't really thought through the issues, they simply connect a number of unrelated facts and fabricate some conspiracy theory. It's so intellectually inconsistent they rarely agree with others in their group, let alone convince people outside the delusion.
What delusion miles? You're waxing poetically but you didn't say anything. I gave you 4 hard examples of government over reach, then equated them to a loss of privacy because of increased interaction with them. What delusion am I under?
Exactly what is your position on the size of government, and the power they have to regulate our daily lives? Explain your adoration for them, because thats what makes you and me different. Help me out miles.
@csgforme Wow. Hey man, you were the one who claimed that the government was going to put people in internment camps. That's delusional. Government-controlled student loans? You realize that the private banks were adding fees to loans they didn't originate, thus costing more than necessary? Student loans have ALWAYS been guaranteed by the government. The government owns your mortgage? You aren't working with facts. Your freedom is not in jeopardy.
Since you brought up facts...I never claimed the government was going to put people in camps (only that they had in the past), and I never claimed the government owned my mortgage (only that they own 96.5% of all mortgages). You sound shocked. I guess you didn't know that.
The reason student loans are guaranteed is because you can't repo an education... there was very little gov involvement.
So no thoughts on the size and scope of government?
@csgforme Actually, you said Michelle Bachmann was right when she spoke about internment camps. And not the ones from WWII. More backpedaling.
Sure, size and scope: government should not hold citizens without charge; people are innocent until proven guilty; warrantless wiretapping is illegal; the Unitary Executive is unconstitutional; the defense budget is 3X the size it could easily be; PATRIOT should be repealed; financial deregulation leads to instability. All brought to you by the GOP.
The camps she talked about were the ones from the 60's. She said nothing about current day camps.
The current Unitary Executive must be driving you crazy. 52, so far. You know he's on pace to sign more then EO's than Bush, right? And when he loses his majority this fall. They're going to sky-rocket.
This started because you had the facts wrong on Bachman, and you still haven't got them right. So take care.
@csgforme You take care, too! It's been an interesting conversation, if not terribly satisfying. Kind of like eating Fritos. Anyway, I've learned a lot.
@csgforme Regarding your first question, it's too vague. By 'standing up', do you mean take up arms, or become politically active? You have indicated that the healthcare mandate is a loss of freedom, but I hardly think that is an existential threat (in fact, it doesn't impact me at all, since I already have insurance.)
I do believe in Net Neutrality, because I seek free markets with low barriers to entry, and the alternative is monopoly. So I would favor reclassification.
taking up arms is not an civil option, so I meant politically.
I'm self-insured, so I'm losing the freedom to remain that way.
Actually, a federal court determined Net Neutrality could not become law, so NN is dead. The reclassification is an FCC work-around. I wouldn't mind so much if these were not private lines. The stimulus included 7.2 billion for public lines, which is one more example of gov leaning on the free market.
Remember November? you must be joking every morning when I awaken rub my eyes and check my watch. SHIT still April, I can't wait for this nitemare to be over !!! November can't come soon enough for the USA.

Yes we should remember November as a time to give Obama the support in Congress he need. We should thank ourselves for having elected him and above all we should thank him for all the work he has done.
Also
Waht does it say when a perty has to attack the other to try and beat them?
It says they have nothing good to contribute to the world
DigitalAquarias...keep drinking the Kool-Aid and living in that fantasy world of yours. For the rest of us who can see clearly and aren't stuck in the fog...we'll see you at the polls in November.
More propaganda and distortion by the people that gave us Bush for 8 years. It's hard to restore jobs when the past administrations have allowed them to leave this country for profit! People wake up and think about the status quo for the past 30 years. Politicians do not want change because they have it made! and that's the TRUTH!
What you don't understand is that it's not about a particular party. It's about our rights, as Americans, slowly being taken away. If you don't think so, it just hasn't hit you yet. When it does, you will see what the rest of us see. I will remember in november.
@xJadexLindsehx If you can give me one concrete example of one of your liberties being taken away in the last two years, you have earned some of my respect.
@wetweasel56 You're saying that you have a problem with someone taking away the "right" to let yourself, and fellow citizens, for that matter, risk losing your/their lives in a situation where you/they might not be able to afford medical bills?
@123daan24, your idiot president had many ways to lower HC costs so that many more people could afford to buy it. He also has many ways to lower our taxes and our cost of living allowing us to have more money to buy HC.
Having universal HC is only a recent thing. In the past if you died you died and that was life. No one is going to live forever.
@wetweasel56 First of all, Obama isn't my president. Secondly, universal health care trumps making health care cheaper and more available, since there will always be people who have their financial priorities wrong, and choose not to have health insurance. In those situations, yes, in the past people would die, and that would be life. However, that is the problem. Universal health care is a protection mechanism for peoples lives. I guess you guys just don't care about your fellow citizens health

Once you abandon God, that nation eventually declines. No sense of morality and no fiscal responsibility.

We want a return to open government with public debate

there is so much hate in this ad. it spews lies and ads to the animosity. when you have 8 years of ignorance and bad decesions to overcome, things will not change over night. time will show that the will of the american people who voted in Obama was not ignored. that he has done the right thing. instead of hating each other, let us support our leader so that he can create the future he promised us. we can never prosper unless we stand together, united as america.

The Democrats may not have done what was popular over the last two years. They have done whats right. Providing healthcare to millions, bringing our country back from the brink, and charting a new course for America. Obviously, this doesn't mean he did well for Americans.
jrwolf012 1 year ago
Obama, like every President since JFK's murder is a puppet of the shadow government and the bankers. I think the difference between him and GWB is Bush actively co-operated with the NWO, while Obama seems to want to forestall it when and where he can -though unless he wants to become the next JFK, with his "al-Quaeda assassination" used to suspend the Constitution and invoke martial law, what can he do.

VigilanceOfFreedom 1 year ago 3
@VigilanceOfFreedom Oh, Daddy's taxes are up? Hmmmmm...you must've missed the USA Today front-page article that showed that Americans are paying the lowest amount of taxes in 50 yrs. About the AZ law, Obama is not saying it's racist. He's saying that he's concerned that it will lead to racial profiling....

The security Obama is offering is just a new slavery.
averyblessedguy 1 year ago
@averyblessedguy I'm sure Burke would roll in his grave if he could witness "Papers, Please!", the new Terrorist Expatriation Act, warrantless wiretapping, the Iraq war, and PATRIOT, all of which were championed by neo-conservatives. In fact, the man who wrote the modern conservative bible - Russell Kirk - openly broke with the neocons before his death.
You do realize that the men driving the GOP agenda - Kristol, Podhoretz, Fukiyama et al. - are all former socialists, right?
miles7470 1 year ago
@miles7470 So, do you agree with the writings of Russell Kirk?
averyblessedguy 1 year ago
@averyblessedguy I'm not sure that's relevant. I agree that 'The Conservative Mind' is a respectable, scholastic work. I own a copy. Some of Burke's writings are aligned with my values, and some are not. Since I don't believe in Providential Law, I don't consider myself a conservative, but that doesn't mean I agree with Rousseau or Marx, either.
Political philosophy is born of perspective; it is rare when it survives the ages. That which does should operate as ballast, not gospel.
miles7470 1 year ago
@miles7470 sounds fair. Your last statement I could agree with but it begs the question of where are your anchor points. If you discard a Providential Law or absolute what do you hold as normative to guide you?
averyblessedguy 1 year ago
@averyblessedguy Wow, that's tough in 500 characters. Let's begin by saying that the code is not the question; it's the origin. My hypothesis is that social organization is a selectable trait, even though that has yet to be demonstrated and therefore requires skepticism. Nevertheless, it's not too far-fetched: social structures lead to stability, defense, propinquity, and ultimately propagation. Successful social structures get passed on through culture. Burke becomes a value proposition.

Halo4Lyf 1 year ago
@Halo4Lyf They attack us because we are over there. So, we suggest that we come home and initiate a Peace Core effort in the middle-east. It would be more effective than killing them, while they have no media to tell them anything, so they become convinced that we are trying to take over their country. They look at al-qeda and the taliban as freedom fighters. I think the best thing to do, at this point, is to just come home and secure our borders. It will save a bunch of money, too.
parish32 1 year ago
@parish32 This is so painfully naive and uninformed that I have trouble believing you are serious. First off, the Muslim world has multiple independent news organizations, and almost universal access to news from around the world via cheap satellite TV. The average MIddle Eastern Muslim is entirely capable of getting opposing viewpoints. Second, you seem to be confusing the Af-Pak theater of operations with the Arab world. They are not synonymous.
Halo4Lyf 1 year ago
@parish32 Lastly, do you understand why we support the monarchies in the Gulf States? Because LARGE percentages of their populations are unrepentant fundamentalists who are anti-Western. If we don't have some sort of presence to support the existing governments in the Gulf, those governments will be overrun by their own fundamentalist population, and we will hand the greatest weapon to the Islamists they have ever had: 40% of the world's oil.
The answer isn't disengagement. Sorry.

Do you really believe Michelle Bachmann when she talks about internment camps? Do you believe Sarah Palin when she threatens you with 'Death Panels'? When does their credibility suffer?
The GOP needs to stop treating their supporters like idiots.
miles7470 1 year ago
@miles7470 Perhaps you would be better informed if you READ the "Financial Reform", "Health Care" and "Arizona" legislation documents. It isn't a question of BELIEVING what someone says is in these documents; it is a question of UNDERSTANDING what is actually there. Do yourself a favor; put away the remote, put down the Kool-Aid and learn some history and the facts of our founding documents. Or not. See, in a "free country", it's up to YOU.

Are you denying the fact that the US government rounded up Japanese Americans and put them in "War Relocation Camps"? FDR Executive Order 9066. The US Census Beureau handed over confidential information to assist in finding them. 62% per US citizens.
What is it with liberals and history? What other falsehoods do you want to discuss?
csgforme 1 year ago
@csgforme Who says I'm a liberal? And even if I am, what does that mean? Liberalism is a form of government that bestows liberty on its citizens, as opposed to an autocracy. But even beyond that, the use of labels as a method of demonization is disrespectful and a characteristic of limited ideas.
If you're paranoid about the Japanese internment camps after WWII, we could also discuss slavery or, more recently, the PATRIOT Act.
miles7470 1 year ago
@miles7470
So Bachmann was right. That's all you had to say.
csgforme 1 year ago
@csgforme Actually, I was mocking your craziness. There have been six decennial censuses since WWII, what is so special about this one?
Every 40 years or so the wingnuts come crawling out of the woodwork, shocked at the state of society. And it's the same people driving the stampede - Norquist, Armey, Koch, and Scott - that caused the mess in the first place. But now they need you to create a furor and prevent the mess from being cleaned up. Pitiful...
miles7470 1 year ago
@miles7470
Who cares what you mocking. The camps happened.
I've never been concerned about the census, and my familiy has always answered the questions asked.
Whats special about this one? Now we have the Patriot Act, now we have mandated healthcare, now we have gov controlled student loans, 96.5% of all mortgages are owned by the gov.
Life without government interaction is dwindling, and I'm going to preserve the little privacy they give me.
csgforme 1 year ago
@csgforme Oh yes, feign indifference: that is always helpful to one's credibility in a debate. I'm finding that a lot of people who swallow web ads like these (that was the point of this post) haven't really thought through the issues, they simply connect a number of unrelated facts and fabricate some conspiracy theory. It's so intellectually inconsistent they rarely agree with others in their group, let alone convince people outside the delusion.
miles7470 1 year ago
@miles7470
Help me out miles.
csgforme 1 year ago
@csgforme Wow. Hey man, you were the one who claimed that the government was going to put people in internment camps. That's delusional. Government-controlled student loans? You realize that the private banks were adding fees to loans they didn't originate, thus costing more than necessary? Student loans have ALWAYS been guaranteed by the government. The government owns your mortgage? You aren't working with facts. Your freedom is not in jeopardy.
miles7470 1 year ago
@miles7470
So no thoughts on the size and scope of government?
csgforme 1 year ago

@miles7470
Yeah, me too.
quick question. If you ever felt like you were losing freedoms, would you stand up against it?
also, any thoughts of the FCC labeling the internet as a utility?
csgforme 1 year ago
@csgforme Regarding your first question, it's too vague. By 'standing up', do you mean take up arms, or become politically active? You have indicated that the healthcare mandate is a loss of freedom, but I hardly think that is an existential threat (in fact, it doesn't impact me at all, since I already have insurance.)
I do believe in Net Neutrality, because I seek free markets with low barriers to entry, and the alternative is monopoly. So I would favor reclassification.
miles7470 1 year ago
@miles7470
taking up arms is not an civil option, so I meant politically.

Yes we should remember November as a time to give Obama the support in Congress he need. We should thank ourselves for having elected him and above all we should thank him for all the work he has done.
Also

More propaganda and distortion by the people that gave us Bush for 8 years. It's hard to restore jobs when the past administrations have allowed them to leave this country for profit! People wake up and think about the status quo for the past 30 years. Politicians do not want change because they have it made! and that's the TRUTH!

What you don't understand is that it's not about a particular party. It's about our rights, as Americans, slowly being taken away. If you don't think so, it just hasn't hit you yet. When it does, you will see what the rest of us see. I will remember in november.
xJadexLindsehx 1 year ago
@xJadexLindsehx If you can give me one concrete example of one of your liberties being taken away in the last two years, you have earned some of my respect.
123daan24 1 year ago
@123daan24, the right to not be forced to buy health insurance.
wetweasel56 1 year ago
@wetweasel56 You're saying that you have a problem with someone taking away the "right" to let yourself, and fellow citizens, for that matter, risk losing your/their lives in a situation where you/they might not be able to afford medical bills?
123daan24 1 year ago
@123daan24, your idiot president had many ways to lower HC costs so that many more people could afford to buy it. He also has many ways to lower our taxes and our cost of living allowing us to have more money to buy HC.
Having universal HC is only a recent thing. In the past if you died you died and that was life. No one is going to live forever.
wetweasel56 1 year ago 3
@wetweasel56 First of all, Obama isn't my president. Secondly, universal health care trumps making health care cheaper and more available, since there will always be people who have their financial priorities wrong, and choose not to have health insurance. In those situations, yes, in the past people would die, and that would be life. However, that is the problem. Universal health care is a protection mechanism for peoples lives. I guess you guys just don't care about your fellow citizens health
