Minbar is like an Indo-European society with its tripartite divisions: oratores, bellatores and laboratores (priests, warriors and workers). In a way, it's medieval Europe or India with "checks and balances", trying to manage a delicate equilibrium between the casts to govern their civilization. This clip is taken from the episodes when the warrior cast tries to take all power, if I remember well. It does not end well for him.
@Xerxes2005 well no and yes. this was after Delenn had destroyed the ruing council and started building war ships for the coming shadow war. he thought he should take the rangers under his control to keep Delenn from becoming too powerful. he goes to kill her but he meets Marcus nearly kills Marcus but Marcus proves to Neroon in his willingness to die for her like a Minbari, even though he is human, that she is the right person for the job.
This is a very "edited" version of Neroon, any true fan of the series, knows, in the end, Neroon, comes to the realization that Delin was right and he takes her place and sacrifices himself and claims unto her, that his heart "always" was of the Religious cast.... so all these pointless, half witted political remarks using Neroon as an example of "your opinion being right" is ludicrous... PS... the Government has shut down before and guess what... life marched on!
Neroon may come off bad at times, but he isn't wrong about this, as I agree full heartily, History has show as much, even in todays world you can see the same thing happening
You do know how the story ended right? He realized Delen was in the right and had the just cause and that HE was the one blinded by bigotry and protection of the elite and status quo
@ravensheart1369 And right after that she proceeded to give the balance of power to the Worker caste (the unions, basically) because the religious and military castes had been busy screwing things up it was the workers who were building everything and keeping it running.
I watched it an age ago so I may a detail or two wrong.
Will people please remember that Neroon was the bad guy until the very last moment of his life? He broke the balance of the Grey Council, and the warrior caste was responsible for atrocities unheard of for centuries during the Minbari civil war. Lust for power is what drove him. Just how is that "awesome"?
@JesusFreakDK Neroon was not really a bad guy he was just a militaristic kind of guy, where he thought like most warrior caste members, meaning he saw things militarily, all he every wanted was what he thought best for his people. He never wanted the cival war with his people nor did he want the warrior caste to have complete dominance over the Minbari people and even helped to end the war, where he was willing to work with Delenn in secret to end the war with as little bloodshed as possible.
a religious Zealot pelled by prophcecy in a position of military and political power, always a bad idea. - My comment on that state ment is inquistion was a result of what he just described i would think.
What about freedom of speech? It's the same old story, accept something from the government and they "own you." Maybe churches should pay taxes and become free to say what they want.
@GhostInTheShell29 true enough he may come of as an antagonist in most of the series, but most of what he say in the show at times is not untrue, especailly with he said in this
Most Teabaggers are libertarian and shun social issues like mixing church and state. Go to the Washington Post and search for "Tea party groups choose to stand mute on same-sex marriage ruling" Or New York Times and search for "Basis of Ruling on Gay Unions Stirs Debate" You will surprised! Tea Party does not equal social conservative. Those are who Neroon should visit.
@vrm3vrm3 I conjecture it's a matter of priorities. Even social conservatives, there s the belief that the foundations of the country are at hazard, and this is what must be addressed first.
Don't you think that was a maneuver to focus the Left on social programs while the real goal was spending in general? The "deal" in the end was larger cuts in all spending, which miffed the Left, while the Right accepted funding Planned Parenthood and the elimination of the EPA policy changes. Social policy changes were exchanged for great budget cuts -- diabolically clever!
But there are a lot of tea party sites saying that the cuts didn't go far enough and that keeping funding for things like planned parenthood is bad and a sign of Republicans caving in (lmfao), so the tea party is not only a "fiscally conservative" movement (not really) but it is also a socially conservative movement.
@Joe402 you learn something new everyday. The Tea Party endorsed a Planned Parenthood method? oy...thats like taking a pair pliers and squeezing your dick until it bursts. You have to understand though NOBODY takes the Tea Party seriously because their methods/ideals are to extreme. I heard one they wanted to outlaw all motor vehicles and electrical appliances, nice way to cut down on pollution oh but..CRIPPLES THE FUCK OUT OUR ECONOMY!!! not one good brain among them.
Church, State. Cesium, Water. Valuable separate but never mix them.

The Religious Caste is the administrative sect for a reason -- because religion represents spirituality, philosophy and wisdom.
It's only when it becomes corrupted by those who do not truly understand its tenets that it becomes oppressive and malicious.
Hence the other two castes.

Its funy because he acts far more as a zealot, and is for most series the problem,
and not the religios Delen driven by prophecy ....
He redeems himself by pointing to Delen befor death that people should listen to her ...

The government was almost shutdown by tea party demands involving social issues like the ones involving planned parenthood.
Look at how naive you are.
