  • Well, not sure what the hell this video is supposed to be about concerning immigration, but the US still accepts more immigrants every year than all of Europe combined... and how many people are immigrating to China, India or Brazil, some... but not many.. get real

  • What an absolutely amazingly poignant story!! WE HAVE TO "Wake-Up!" from our Orchestrated mind-numbing greed and materialistic trance and understand that the Whole World has been massively Lied to and Deceived by one single group of individuals; (FACT!) Please; read: wake-upbeforeitstoolate(dot)com or start researching into "Who Owns What!" because the masses are totally oblivious that this group has through their stolen wealth and nepotism stealthily taken CONTROL of virtually ALL industries

  • We are always being told to give up freedom for the sake of security... national or otherwise. We end up with a polluted river. Nietzsche said "Live dangerously" and maybe we need to take that advice. Throw away those guarentees of safety and accept the unknown. along with the freedom that accompanies it.

  • It's telling everyone the power is not actually in the hands of the powerful, it exists in our collective hands. Don't be fooled by those who put a reality in our minds that is false.

  • @IndisguiseIam Whoops, I wasn't trying to be that general. I was focusing on the US alone. My mistake.

I'm probably a rare breed that considers "compliment" as a pure sentiment, but point taken regardless. Still, thanks for the kind words. :)

  • @IndisguiseIam The phrase was always that the punishment must fit the crime and of course in modern society, the punishment is commonly worse than the crime. Crime, with each passing day, garners less and less victims. Punishment, with each passing day, is more likely to be carried out after their sentence is completed. Exceptions? Sure. Consistency isn't in many people's language.

    I appreciate the compliment. :)

  • the usual Marxist crap out of Hollywood.

  • Some of us are working to restore the river... and SUCCEEDING

    freestateproject(dot)org

  • Go back to sleep everything's fine !!! sigh....

  • Freedom ;)

beoutifull word but freedom has not with "IRROGANCE"

If you will live on tree you will not cut it while living on it.

  • Orson Welles FTW!!!!

  • What a wonderful visionary this man was!

  • I think the saddest part about this video is that it has less than 200,000 hits, and viral garbage gets tens of millions :-(. As a teacher, I have put this in my favourites.

  • People, Look at the River NOW!

  • excess and deficiency. that is the way it is, there is a moment in which the big billionares can be counted easy, they own evry thing so they control the stock market, obviously, with their business and exploitation, The Big problem is that most people don't really takes it seriously. One Greatest misfortune is the lacking of CONSCIOUSNESS, there is no prudence, there is conformism, submission, brown-noses, and especially foolishnes with tons of lies. NO HUJMAN VALUES. INSANITY... sigh :/

  • Way more relevant today than it was when it was made IMO

  • Tells it like it is, only the People can restore the Freedom to these lands.

  • makes me wonder wen will the river flow again in VENEZUELA... 0_0'

  • well done

  • God bless whoever posted this. The Truth can be both clear and elusive.

  • How prophetic was this cartoon?

  • @MrUhwoody

Not at all. It was a response to events which had already happened at the time. Sadly, it didn't work and things progressed to where they are now.

  • a wonderfull film made and thanks for sharing with me aho

  • sad tail. what do you do? when do you take a stand? how do you get rid of the fear to take a stand? as the story by Dr. Seuss about the sneeches with the stars upon thars...i tend to love everyone and hope it makes a difference. Sorry I don't make much sense but the emotion of this simple cartoon creates frustration, fear, sadness, and a drive to hope.

  • @vtxrider3 Look within first, and see the freedom & love that creates the courage to stand up to all injustices.

  • its simply because people are guilty with shame inside , its not goverment but society is also responsible for polluting the earth since everyone wants airconditioned house and car so called comforts of life

  • I sense some anti-government conservatism at 5:10. Anyone else?

  • For the most part this struck me as anti-conservatism. I think the idea is that the idea is to show the negatives of both extremes.

  • from 3:00 on it promotes socialism

  • Socialism right there in 3:00

  • Actually that was not a socialism tangent.

The description was about common corruption.

The 'let's all pull together' sentiment is not by definition socialist. It is merely a sentimental generalization.

  • anarchy for the win!

  • yes sir!

  • Becloudend??

    Pretty awsome vid actually.

  • to become cloudy

  • The River of Freedom has been damned. Pun intended.

  • In 1971 by a man named Joseph Cavella.

  • It's a bit old albiet a hodge-vorkorklin of fact and fiction:

"And then they changed, allowing everyone to come in. One day English was outlawed to accomodate the new 'freedom'--Spanish Only--soon maybe Arabic and Chinese.

"And the old freedom-people were sent back--across the Atlantic Ocean but they sank."

  • but alas the republicans didn't want to see..

  • nor the Democrats

  • Nor the argumentative, wishing to win points and make their pride swell. For they shall show all around them... what? Kindness or hatred?

If there were no enemies or boundaries to destroy, what would you be doing? Creating or with nothing left to do?

  • Interesting how a master hypnotist has left out the part about how the people's became themselves hynotized.

This is a very bad video that places blame where it does not belong. Those "others" who came up with the "solution to the problem" are, of course, the New World Oder.

Please, wake up and redirect the flow yourselves. It can be done now, this moment.

  • @05:58 probably the most important bit of the whole video.

  • none are more hopelessly enslaved then those who truly belive they are free.

  • falsely

  • There are too many voices and not enough river anymore. We have all had to move away from the river of freedom because of the garbage we have let stew in it. Whether that river is indicative of our gov'ts or peace of living without trashing our world does not matter. This is a wonderful video from an era that would have seriously frowned apon it.

Now we accept seeing videos like this but most of us will carry on and toss another rotten apple into the stream!

    Thanks for sharing

    Ohkwa:ri'

  • Citizenship has duties. When we ignore our responsibilities our Country dies.

  • I sincerelly think that this message is beyond the simple definition of government, because if you think carefully people who are on the government are just as human as you and me. This is a general message to harmony and respect, to honesty and justice. We are all free, but we need to respect that not everyone is equal to us, and stop rebelling and causing rebelion. War only generates war.

If everyone applaudes this matter it will just keep on going and going. If people took a stand...

  • what do u mean not everyone is equal to us???? are we not human how is one human diffret from another human. people in the gov. are also humans like u said but they are also animals who like to kill inoccent people and enslave the people under their governance.

  • i said: "respecting that not everyone is equal to us", meaning that i dont understand why when i get a history book and study about it all i will see is people trying to impose their ideals on other people. so... war. that's what comes next.

  • And im talking about the governers like this because people tend to throw rocks at them in a matter of finding someone to blame. True - they do have a lot do deal with... however, the power to do so will not be theirs unless we believe in them, right? That's where all the manipulation begins.

  • Picture this as a maze. there is a big difference from when you have a panoramic view and when you don't. now, in this case, what will give you a panoramic view? the values this video showed. harmony and respect. honesty and justice. now... the values that we live under, they only give panoramic SELF views.

  • the American public has no say in these matters and no real effect on anything. Many if not disillusioned by the political process are dumb enough to believe that there's power in voting.

  • the only problem with this story is, it keeps needing to be retold.

  • Lest we forget - lest we forget!

  • I think this gives a small parallel to conservatism...people look back on how things "were" and don't want to change, ignoring any benefits to society. It also shows how capitalism gives power to the greedy.

  • If this were made today, I'd say the wise man is a parallel of Colin Powell. He was the only intelligent man in Bush's inner circle and the only one with the guts to actually oppose him.

Sure he had to present evidence of WMDs before the UN, but at leas the admits he was wrong.

  • Does he help support the families that are broken as a result though....I suspect he sleeps very well on his fine quality bed in his mansion behind the moat and drawbridge. We should be boiling these people in oil.

  • Who are you people talking about? I live in Europe and am under the impression that all republicans are neocons apart from Ron Paul but he's just dumb

  • not all Republicans, just the ones who gain high ranking position in the party.

And Ron Paul's a liberal in libertarian clothing.

Any guy who said the Civil War didn't need to be fought isn't looking at the effect of the War as a whole.

  • Most Democrats are neocons as well. Look closely at both candidates and you will see only minor differences.

  • Read Capitano's comment. This is an exellent interpretation of part of the video.

  • Its all a matter of who is going to take the initiative...are WE going to take RESPONSIBILITY and do the HARD thing or sit back and be complacent and allow those with the Big MOUTHS to continue telling us LIES or are we going to ACT???

  • Great video!

  • That was wonderful.

  • year - and let´s bomb somme countrys, so that they can taste this freedom as well ....

  • Why not. As a Neolibertarian I believe that freedom is the right of all of man. No dictator can stand in the way, or they will be destroyed.

  • exactly - thats why i is ouer responsability to bomb all diktators in the world (together with just a few inocent casulties) and bring those people freedom weather they want freedom or they are still unaware of the fact that all they want is freedom...... and coca cola and micky mouse and Mc Donalds .....

  • Well said. Democracy is the answer as democracies dont fight. Freedom and democracy will bring peace. Then the free world can have what it likes and what it wants.

  • So a demokracies don´t fight fight ? So,

    US-amerika ain´t a demokracy then ???

    (well i knew it ...)

  • You missed the point. Democracies dont fight other Democracies. If the worlds states are all democracies, then the there will be less wars. In theory.

Explaining political theory to dummies. Aaaaagggghhhhh!

  • so why us-amerika hinders then the development o f demokracy in so many countrys arround the world by finacing citiczen and terrorism, puting Diktators in place and by assasinating demokratik politicans ??? do you want me to make you a list ???

  • I dont generally support that. Im a neolibertarian (look it up). In some cases, by doing that it can prevent another dictorial element: Communism for example taking a foot hold. The dictator kills the communists, then we move in and remove him, taking out 2 birds with one stone. Dont make me a list, lists bore me. Im educated enough to know all the dictatorships in the world.

  • stick to the question - why doe´s US-Amerika stopps demokracies to develop just because the have a left wing aprosch and don´t act in fevor of the US but in there own. - Even when they go for Comunism, you have to accept it.

  • It is because there are warmongers in office. Many Americans do not support it at all, most of us are simply being lied to, and far too many people in our country simply don't know or don't care what is actually being done in our name.

  • Hitler was elected, bush was appointed.

  • @SayNoToIslamofascism

Nice theory. Too bad in reality we have overthrown quite a few democratically elected leaders. But maybe you're right, and democracies don't fight each other ever, and maybe we just aren't one, which enables us to go to war (very limited, clandestine war) with nations that are.

  • This is simply awesome and inspiring.

    You Inc.

...is the way to restore the river. Click on our profile :)

  • history of the world in 7 minutes - awesome.

  • Thank you!!!

  • the only problem with this story is, it keeps needing to be retold.

  • He's talking about America.

  • which one?

  • What can I say? This is a very profound lesson being taught here. I love it. 5/5. Enough said.

  • This is really something beautiful.

Kangalanatolian, when you say socialism, are you saying that helping people afford the things they need, even when they don't have the resources, hurts freedom? Or are you saying that a fear of socialism is one of the enemies of freedom today? I would personally argue that denying opportunities to people who can't afford proper education or healthcare does more to hurt freedom than the loss of the money required to help them.

  • What old animation.

    But awesome. xD

  • It was made in the 1960's

  • Seems reminisent of public awareness ads I remember when I was growing up.

    Good times.

  • What does freedom really mean. With the mindset of freedom do you actually have to worship laws. The more laws you have the more you can relish in thoughts of possibly not following the laws. This perspective seems to be based on a feeling of freedom and false pride that masks itself as free will. I think freedom is like a river of actions that wind their way through a canyon of laws. If someone could not understand the concept of laws would empathy take over as a form of personal governance?

  • Pretty good. It does not address the socialism, though. That is one of the main reasons we compromise our freedom.

  • that is not necessarily true unless you live in a republic. Socialism works fine as a democracy. There are many successful models in the world today, with standards of living far higher per capita than your republic. Yet we do not say give us a republic so we may experience freedom. Actually, from reading comments here, we appear MUCH more free and not nearly as concerned about having our freedoms removed by a small group. If you think you aren't being compromised, think again!

  • Why can't the ideals of socialism work in a republic?

  • excellent point...

  • Well said Brawk....what WE think is going on and what is REALLY going on are two different things...

  • This is amazing.

  • "We will stop the river and start it again when things are safe", Wow! We are in that bleak river at the moment

  • I remember this!! lol

it used to play on weekends!

Why can't our generation of children be exposed to this!

  • A perfect annalogy for the state of our Union!

  • great the best i have ever seen

  • An allegory for the times.

  • perfect ending.. well worth the 6 minutes

  • How BRILLIANT is that? It perfectly illustrates the world we're living in right now. "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave" ? Not by a long shot, not any more. We need to reverse the so called "patriot act" and we need to make our leaders accountable. Our republic is in SERIOUS TROUBLE.

  • Ok. Here's your difference. Democracy is ruled by majority. Republic is ruled by law. In a republic, everyone has freedom of speech. In a democracy, only the majority has freedom of speech. I'm sure there's a video that explains better than I.

  • Yes. You are right. I must recomend a book by Hans Herman Hoppe - Democracy. The God that failed. Especially the first chapters which compare monarchy and democracy. There is one thing the movie shows ina a bad way. New immigration - so called "free" migration realy means "compulsory integration". Also explained in the book.

  • Freedom is only something individually we can promote within - the fascists are promoting fear - but it is only our choice.

  • @Ovalshine Actually you are not completely true because laws are made by the majority of votes too ;)

  • @kaaskiller666 Have you ever looked back at something you said 3 years ago and thought to yourself, "I wrote that?" I do refine my arguments over time and I'd probably say what you just responded to me with. Not sure, though. What I do know is that since that time, I've grown to despise words such as "ruled by" and I uttered them then. Nonetheless, I believe I meant "law" in its natural sense rather than anything determined by a vote. Thus, not sure if "law" is an accurate word to use.

  • lets all go and clean the river, shit to much to do already o well must go to work hope someone sorts it out

  • Today the river is being befouled not only by arrogance, but by fear.

  • this is how shit works in jail, take more than your share when others do and hate the weak and different, dont complain, crazy

  • Comment removed

  • It wasn't part of most indigenous cultures to use people for personal benefit, and in doing so injure them, because the sense of community wellbeing was very strong and necessary for survival. In this world, it really just wouldn't have happened that way... so, yeah, if it means something to you to say if brown people were like whites they'd have done the same thing, too, then ok...but it really means nothing.

  • It's really about cultural and societal values- not color. It just happens to mostly divide on a color line historically.

  • hmm

  • Brown skinned people were killing each other way before the arrival of white people. Brown skinned people were never worked in the factories that made America prosper. Free market capitalism brought you electricty, computers, internet and YouTube to complain about it.

  • Critical thought is the only way to foster growth. Yes, capitalism has benefitted a lot of people. Could it be improved upon? Yes. Could we have founded a strong culture without exploiting people? Yes. It seems stronger to me to be able to accept the benefits as well as understand the faults, and there are many.

  • No it didn't. The internet was originally developed as a military system, not as a profit seeking endeavor. Electricity was discovered through human curiosity, not desire for profit. Computers were developed by the military, and in universities receiving government funding. But you're right, youtube was created to turn a profit. So you can cling to your religious faith in the "free" market. Hurray for the freedom to exploit and oppress.

  • This is the type of attitude that will never get anything done. Instead of trying to make change and improve our country, your argument says that it is impossible to make anything better unless you have money. I'm glad those such as Martin Luther King didn't think like you. "Some men see things and they are and say why, I dream things that never were and say why not." Robert Kennedy.

  • This video should be posted as a response to immigration gumballs.

  • awesome!

  • Old cartoons scare the hell out of me.

  • yeah me too, especially the ones from eastern europe

  • Yeah your right kid...

Because we all know Britain never imposed their will on others, or pushed their faces in the mud.

The American Colonies are your creation, whom you abused.

India, Africa, SOUTH AFRICA, Australia, New Guinea, Canada, Etc.

Your list of woe's and ill's is much older and much much larger and longer than ours.

Though we're working on it; together as a team now. Yea! Isn't it lovely?

  • yes but we aint celerbrating it duc. n our "list of woes" r older because we are older.

  • Well, judge not...

    Lest ye be judged yourself.

  • Oh!

    I get it!

Because other people have made mistakes in the past, it is completely okay for us to make those same mistakes!

    You make sense!

Thats what you are saying, right???

    ...

*sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell.*

  • FREEDOM obviously has nothing to do with money, status, pride, looks, jewelry, war, selfishness and self centeredness. The spirit of dispair is all around the us.

  • when was this shown made?

  • It's like teaching a kid about usa, i just love it xD

Althought i don't agree at all with the end

  • It's harder to keep freedom, then when getting freedom.

  • And, the people lied to the toy manufactures, saying they would manufacture clean toys if the toy manufacturers would take the factories out of America, and therefor take jobs away from Americans, and place the factories in Asia, India, Central, and South America and the Middle East, but the people lied, and put poison in the toys, use suicide-bombers, and pilot aeroplanes into buildings, acts that rivers can't wash away.

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • Yo doctorkazoo! Who was it who came over and took over the land of the Mexican ancestors? The white man, so why don't you shut the hell up?

  • Anyone in here know the credit for the animation?

  • Whats charming commentary to an already eloquent piece of you tube clip-age.

  • Oh, so true.

One thing - shouldn't there have been representations of the crooked Pennsylvania Ave. & Wall Street there somewhere?

  • Awesome video

  • Excellent political allegory. Very well done and finely narrated by Orson Welles. More relevant now than when it was made.

  • pico pal que lee

  • why is this happening to us?

  • An old story told many diffrent ways this one to me seems the most simple and easy to understand

thankyou for your time with this

stay strong in truth and love

    Zq

  • bill gates is very generous.

  • But he's also taken much more than his fair share. If he hadn't, we wouldn't have to sit here and argue about whether or not he's generous.

  • Whoah. That's...wow. That's freakin' relevant.

  • Very prophetic. Show this film to Bush.

  • has bill gates seen this movie?

  • saved this video with savetube :D

  • The shirking of new ideas and the idolization of crime are almost verbatim the ideals of the socialistic enemies of Ayn Rand's philosophy. I suggest reading Atlas Shrugged or The Fountainhead.

This is a great segment I've now watched for the second time after a long intermission, its just as good as the first time I viewed it, five stars.

  • What a great video, reminds you what's really important.

  • what's important? making money, scoring booty?

definitely not caring about other people...

just ask that "soundwave348" who's an ayn rand freak "aka fascist pig"

  • speedcrayzy, you are misinformed. an "ayn rand freak" cannot be a "fascist pig." ayn rand fans are libertarians, who believe in every form of freedom and liberty. fascists value a laissez-faire, capitalist economy (like libertarians), but want to control your personal lives. the neo-conservatives (and by extension, almost the entire republican party) are fascist pigs. liberals are at best socialist pigs (at worst, communist pigs).

  • Objectivism is a strain of fascism with those Randers seeking to define a higher level of social class based on their values.

they define limited criteria for dynamic individuals to make paradigm shifts that in reality use human fodder without giving back

  • liberals are not socialist pigs!!! I don't know what you talking about dude. I'm a socialist and i don't like the way liberals think. Nor do i agree with their policies. Nor are there communist pigs. If you read marx you'll find communism doesn't truly happen untill the last vestiges of the state and capitalism are obolished. China is not communist, not even close, nor are liberals communists.

  • What particularly broke my heart was seeing that new ideas were laughed at. In actuality it is new ideas that are meant to amend our constitution, and it is the wise who are meant to lead us with those thoughts.

  • Democracy is horrible for 49% of the people and full liberty only means no protection to those who lack monetary representation.

  • Awesome. This cartoon really says something about the inbred aristocrats that run the US, and it also has a message about pollution. I give it five stars!

  • Great vid, thanks for posting. Should be required viewing at the DNC and RNC Conventions.

    Peace

  • Exellent video. i see that some refuse to believe, calling it liberal propaganda. some are just plain ignorant. it's nothing to do with leftist or rightist, we have all had our freedoms comprimised.

  • Orson Wells is dead, right? Hmmm, let's see. Bambi's mother and father are dead too, right? ..and the word is compromised...not comprimised...so, maybe we should weigh your opinion. That's okay isn't it? You're open minded right? Liberal means to be open minded..surely you don't insist on your own limited experience as being the rule. Orson, wasn't someone I would hope to be like. His gluttony is an expression of who he loved. He was selfish and self serving.

  • Excuse my misspelling, sometimes I type faster than I should without a spellchecker. My parents are alive and well. I am very open minded and rather liberal.

  • Orson Welles was a very generous man. The fact is that he gave consistanly to charitable organizations. Yes, he was addicted to food and alchohol I would be too if I had peaked in my mid to late twenties and was expected to keep up that kind of genius forever. A brilliant man and a humanitarian. We are all selfish. It's how we modify that selfishness for the public good that makes us good or bad people.

  • I'm addicted to food - and I haven't even peaked yet.

  • amen brother.

  • In my opinion, the river represents democracy and freedom. The citizens of this country much realize that we must protect our freedoms before we lose them, hence the river going into decay. And the shovels represent the tools we need to start a revolution. Jefferson stated that we would need a revolution every 5 years to keep leaders from abusing the power and for our rights as American citizens to be kept intact, thus presidential elections are held every 4 years.

  • Superb

  • Man, you don't know how bad I needed that. Thank You!!!

  • Excellent.

  • thanks for sharing this...

  • people became arrogant and forget where they come from, even if they were in need before.

  • That is scary because they said that maybe 30 years ago and look what America is still doing...

  • well...I think EVERY generation is responsible for maintaining and improving freedom river. Freedom has been at risk from day 1 of our existance; only eternal vigilance will keep it.
