@shit311 I doubt it will ever be released to the public and it is also very old. I believe in a old interview older than this one I read that it was on a Mac or Windows 95 but just from either of those it is very old since it is from around when Windows 95 was getting popular. He doesn't even make his old style of music anymore from releases like Systemich or 94 Diskont. He's still a good artist but he now just abandoned what made him so great in the first place, pure glitch. sad really.
@squezey1 as far as i know it hasnt been released yet. haha true. it has to be updated for win vista and 7. he doesnt like to go back the old way. he kinda seems to be a difficult, eccentric person which makes him awesome though. i like this guy
@shit311@squezey ovalprocess has not been released and won't be. it was incorporated into a hardware touring installation, like an interactive box in 2001. However, later this year Oval DNA will come out which contains a DVD of the oval "sound archive" which can be manipulated in a software environment which looks sick, check screenshots out on his facebook. looks a bit like ovalprocess but more modern and flexible
There's nothing wrong with him. People are just used to seeing drones in interviews who respond to questions by talking about their vacation or relating an anecdote. Popp is a true artist, a brilliant man who is earnestly attempting to deconstruct and explain the process he employs in conceiving and recording some of the most innovative records in recent history, a rather involved process that is quite foreign to most, and so he is taking the time to spell it out as succinctly as possible.
to me, he´s an icon, someone who´s gone beyond stereotypes of music and "pop". he´s very serious, very focused on sound and structure, not that stupid and obvious catchy pop hits that everyone seems to like
Popp is such a fucking genius. Some say eccentric or crazy, but I think you really have to think on a different level to understand not only what hes talking about hear, but to also understand his music.
Not everyone can just create their own software to create their own sounds...its a process ;)
The reason he is repeating his point is tostress the fact that his music isn't on on or the other spectrum of music. Think about it; music is either listened to because of the talent involved in playing it (IE, Jazz and metal) or the image of it (rap, pop). Rarely ever is there music which stresses the importance of both.
love his sounds.. I my self use audiomulch, but i think ovalprocess would be great for remixing some of my noise. added a new video btw. check it out. would love some feedback on the song
It's cool to see the Ovalprocess software in action.
I interviewed Oval around this time, and we talked for about 20 minutes about music, then I stopped the tape and we talked for over an hour about video games.
very interesting to watch, thank you for uploading

he's focused in the process of making music, creating that process is art and is subjective.
