Why do so many people want to buy? Rent, make some calculations how much you actually use it, and by renting you are not committing to one camera for its lifetime.

Why are people comparing this to DSLR? This is a production professional camera. Also how many people actually need 4K in their projects... does that make business sense? Is that going to make post production slower? Can you grade RED, storage, GPU cards etc. those are the questions people need to ask. Then decide by renting!

If you can't afford a powerful workstation, I don't think you can afford this Scarlet nor should you be shooting 4k.

@Bloodsport1 The usual 8+GB RAM, SSD, IPS LCD, etc. machine, which is not that expensive these days. Hence my comment that if you can't afford one of these, you have no business playing with 4k video.

@Bloodsport1 I have no idea, I'm in Australia. I buy the PC components separately and build my own machine. Ends up a LOT cheaper than buying something like a Mac Pro, specially here in Australia where Apple charges from $500 - $1500 more than the US price.

The last time I overhauled my PC was about 15 months ago, it cost me around $1800 for the PC and another $800 for the Dell U2711 IPS panel LCD, which should be cheaper now.

@cinema5Dnews You don't know what the 5D is? It is a dslr camera, what is capable of 1080p video at 30fps and has an impresive 21 mega pixel sensor. It only costs a fraction of the price (around 1500 pounds) It is unriveled in low light even by the red epic, if using a lense with an apeture of 1.4 or lower you can pull off amazing night shots with it, what you can't do with the red epic or the scarlet. So you see if you don't wan't to spend a fortune buy a canon 5d.
