  • 0:14 he could easily switch, and do a low open hand strike to the attackers grown in case the opponent tries to counter the arm lock.

  • Thats not jujutsu, its traditional karate.

  • Koto Gashi. That's it. Reverse Wrist Throw. Damn, these Japs are so stiff. We need more animation. What ever happened to Anime?

  • Will these throws work? =o

  • @Sabre809 You have to understand that in Jujutsu and related arts both people know how to go with the technique so it looks very nice. On the street things will look differently and your attacker will still suffer damage if he is not trained in proper throws and breakfalls but it won't look as smooth as it does here.

  • it's karate wado ryu

  • i wish i could learn this real jiujitsu- from the ancient battle feild. Not this mma shit. i mean the mms is better than nothing, but its not self defense, its sport. here you move to kill

  • @dirosaga you have uderstand the true spirit of martial arts.

Sport is very very interesting, I like every sport....but for fight I prefer REAL martial arts.

the most important thing is that you train hard e good.

    happy training

  • @DaveTigre90 Thanks man. You too.

  • @dirosaga Don't worry buddy, there are still traditional schools all around, its just that 90% of most martial arts schools are just fake and for sport . But don't worry, You'll find a real school eventually., =)

  • @Sabre809 Thanks :) I think when i'm done post secondary school, i might just follow my calling, and go live in japan, and have a throrough decade or so of training. We'll see; will train regardeless in the meantime. I hope you've found hapiness in your current training, it sounds like you have.

    Take care.

  • @dirosaga Thanks, I use to but its been a full two months since my dojo has contacted me, but...oh well you know? I still train in Shorin-Ryu And Ryu-te, and I was thinking of Japan as well, maybe Okinawa to seek the roots. =D

  • @Sabre809 Anyways, i am fixed on dedicating my self untill i get three 3rd degree black belts. I know ranks/certificates don't really mean anything, but i feel they are physical symbols that represent the amount of training, effort and time you have put into a certain art. I was just glad and remembered your comment, so i thought id let you know. Take care! And if you have any tips for a fellow student, my ears are open. cheers. ;)

  • The founder of Wado ryu karate jutsu kempo was also a master of yoshin ryu jujutsu before the time he trained under Funakoshi sensei.

  • Wado ryu is a mix of Jujitsu and Karate. That's why the "jutsu".

  • hironori ohtsuka left two former disciples, but his best one was obviously tatsuo susuki... who´s the only hanshi alive betwen the 4 hanshis named with that title by the last japan emperor.

  • These techniques are good, but every time I've seen these techniques done, they are too edgy. Japanese Jujitsu is often practiced that way, however, practicing flow in movement is also good.

  • It's jujutsu? More looks like a karate

  • This is Wado Ryu karate. The creator of Wado Ryu, Hironori Otsuka, had trained in both shotokan karate and jujutsu, and out of that he created a style far more flexible then shotokan.

  • then again, just look at the other comments, since they have already said the same as what i said.

  • I just try to understand why karate techniques called jujutsu

  • well, simple. they should not be called Jujutsu techniques then but Wado Ryu throwing techniques. obviously they don't look like Jujutsu techinques. Maybe basic, but i don't know. Haven't trained Jujutsu before.

  • It looks like koryu ju-jutsu, but here kusushi (ballance capture) changed by atemi (strikes). Maybe Ohtsuka know ju-jutsu too?

  • Yeah, he has probably trained in more then just Wado ryu karate. I think both Hironori Otsuka and Hironori Otsuka II have trained some in aikido, and various other styles.

  • japanese jiu jitsu...

ohtsuka the first was 10th dan in jiu jitsu before he trained on the to te..

or first karate do steps, and lot of years after he started the wado ryu teachings

  • Wado Ryu was invented by Jiro Ohtsuka's father, Hironori Ohtsuka, who was a ju-jitsu master BEFORE learning karate from Funakoshi.

Wado is karate used with ju-jitsu principles, like evasion rather than blocking, and locks and throws as well as puncehs and kicks.

Wado still teaches very traditional ju-jitsu techniques that came from Hironori Ohtsuka

  • I have cast respect for BJJ and its ne waza offshoots, But I don't think anyonw is gonna have much respect for a "kid" in his early 20's that has nothing better to do than to call a Sempai's life study "crap". You should respect those that came before you. Without Samurai Koryu Bugei, wyou wouldn't have you egotistical UFC or Brazilian Jiujitsu. Helio Gracie Sensei (RIP) didnt go around bashing other jujutsu systems and neither should you.

  • Seems every video always has one idiot who lacks the knowledge or respect that should have been passed down to them from their Sempai.

  • indeed they do humpN81.......

  • ADL4999 , in your Infinite wisdom can you please explain to us lowly Jujutsuka (who have dan grades since you were a child) what the difference is between jui-jitsu and Jujutsu (other than the different spelling interpretation on brazil). Please.... I can't wait to see what wonderful knowledge you posess. By the way before you spout off , understand that Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is merely pre-war kodokan Judo's ne waza transplanted to Brazil before Kano Sensei changed the name to Judo.

  • yes this is Wado-ryu,But ohtsuka sensei

was at the age of 28 the head of the Yoshin-ryu schools after his sensei died.

but it was one of the first ju-jitsu styles to have strikes in it .Before he became funakoshi student.I think a real Martial artist wouldn't just look at other styles or systems and disregard it .All martial arts

come from the same roots in one way or enother .If you dont think it does then research the history and open your mind!!

and stop talking trash over your computer

  • BUHHAAAAA! you are crap! stupid boy!

  • i'd like to show you just how "ineffective" jujutsu is... ;-)

  • Come on,, I'm waiting for that day.. ;)

  • Hi Bitch! Buhaaahhahaha

  • seems like you are the pulic enemy here. im not suprised since you are the kid with no manner and respect toward others. i've seen plenty of kids like you who love to trash talk people and run away while squeaking "i'm a lover not a fighter" ^^

if you are practicing under any sensei i feel sorry for him not getting through to you mentally.

  • I'm not your enemy, and I'm a lover and a fighter.I practiced karate shito-ryu one years, and now I am practicing brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing and mma for your information. I respect those who respect me.

  • @ADL4999 there isn't any such thing as 'Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu'. There is jiujitsu, which is from Japan, and there are people from Brazil who learned jiujitsu and started teaching it. If someone from Brazil came up with a martial art, why would they give it a Japanese name?

  • @Paulmcxxx1 There is Jiu-jitsu(traditional) and a variation( brazillian jiu-jitsu).. It's just the ground game, the brazillians have been devolup the ground game with no striking at all, and the traditional jiu-jitsu have many striking game...

  • Comment removed

  • @Paulmcxxx1 There is a Jiu-jitsu (Traditional) and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (a variant of traditional jiu-jitsu). The so-called Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was evolved as a master named Mitsuyo Maeda arrived in Brazil and taught the art of jiu-jitsu gracie Gaston, who then taught their children including Carlos Gracie and Hélio Gracie. Since Helio was too weak physically adapted jiu-jitsu for himself, using mostly the ground game and without using any kind of striking.

  • The Gracie family has specialized in: after the fall, it took the fight to the ground and used the terminating blows, which resulted in a kind of wrestling in a kimono.

By changing the international rules of the Japanese jiu-jitsu, Carlos Gracie opened the first case of change of nationality of a sport in the world of sports history.Years later, the martial art became known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu or Brazilian jiu-jitsu being exported to the world, even to Japan

  • Wow , the worst is that you are to dumb to feel shame at your own stupidity

  • Yes this is Karate, Wado Ryu I belive. It has a very strong Jujitsu base. The founder of Wado Ryu was also a Yoshin-Ryu Jujitsu instructor. I have trained (seminar)with Sensei Tatso Suzuki who is one of the higest ranked in the world for this style. He does a lot of Jujitsu, pure Japanese Jujitsu not made up stuff.

    Great video.

  • Great video!! This is karate by the way, not jujutsu, its even written on the banner on the back.

  • Wow, hard falls on hard floor. That`s impressive, I must say.

I wouldn´t do it, I stick with tatamis.

  • juss so u kno

if u do it rite it dont hert so much

  • I love how people try to pick this stuff apart. Its very simple. These guys are the real deal not North American "Jujitsu trained" guys who learned from Joe Bob who trained with maybe one Japanese guy for two seminars.

  • dude north america has some of the best martial artist in the world its only because they are underground and are terrible business men every incridible martial artist i no cant even have a school but they sure in hell should i would look up the names moses powell and sonuces ryu him and his students are world renowned hes a non-traditional aiki-jiujitsu practicioner these kinda guys are all over the place in north america we just dont know about them or hear about them

  • too static, jujitsu its more dinamic than that

  • I'm a jujutsu practitioner and its so clear they are demonstrating techniques. They aren't doing it at combat speed.

  • Its pretty easy to do an armlock from a punch if the guy leaves his arm out there!

  • It's a demonstration mate. They slow it down in order to show the essential aspects of the technique.

  • a little too hard ground???

  • only pansies use matts.

  • only pansies use matts if er already traind

    me i dnt

but 4 beginerz i would reccomend them for a matt

  • You have not been thrown hard enougth

  • awesome...tnx for share...

  • Robotic

  • :o) LOL, do you find your vids you posted of shotokan to be more relaxed?

  • don't get me wrong, Ohtsuka seems relaxed here, there is such a thing as relaxed and robotic right?

    domoarigato mister roboto

    domo... domo...

  • IC what you try do do here, but you're mistaken, sorry. Also you don't need to insult people here. Obviously you don't understand the movements, nor the principles... Kind Regards

  • Sorry SamHaleke, I'm just messing with you. I can see you are a nice fellow. My apologies.

  • Of course it's traditional jujutsu (not jiujitsu btw) It just exist in a "gendai" system (Wado Ryu) and is also practiced in Takamura-ha Shindo Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu (just a little bit different). SJR jujutsu is by many considered as Koryu (Toby Threadgill).

  • damn i guess this is like traditional jiujitsu eh? more so than the mma stuff today right

  • This isn't traditional jiujitsu, these are jiujitsu techniques that aply in wado ryu karate . Some of these techinques are used in shindo yoshin ryu jujutsu, the founder of wado ryu karate do (Hironori Ohtsuka) was a master in this jujutsu style when he started training shotokan karate under Funakoshi sensei.
