Al was supposed to stop short of actually striking David Bowe with the pan, and accidentally smoked him in the face for real (cutting his lip too.) The result was one of the funniest parts of the entire movie.
oh my gosh this is one of my favorite parts of this entire movie (which im getting ready for my 3rd watching) this movie would have been NOTHING if weird al hadnt been in it!
The film was written by Weird Al and his manager Jay Levey. So yeah, it literally would have been nothing without Weird Al. :P And this is one of my favorite parts of the movie also. :D
