  • That sign pointing to all the bigger cities at 1:37 with the music really gives me that sense of just how remote Barrow is. I'm not particularly keen on ever visiting there but, learning about small towns always seems to interest me.

  • Ihave never seen snow, never touched it, but it is a dream that maybe one day I can make it come true!

I reallly would like to know Alaska, (and barrow) someday, well I am from Brazil so I think ther is a long way to......

  • I've always wanted to drive to Deadhorse, and then from there, fly to Barrow

  • Im curious...do they have any type of electronic store in Barrow Alaska, or is there a general store or something that sells maybe TV's or stoves, or possible even video games? I know there are high schoolers there, was wondering if they have stuff like Ipods and video game stuff like you see alot of kids in more populated parts of the country.

  • Golden Sun music?

  • Hi! i really like this video. i live in new jersey (20 minutes from new york city) and i've always wanted to visit barrow. has anyone ever made the trip from nyc to barrow? how much does the trip cost each way? i assume that there would be a number of transfers to make it there.

  • I plan to go on an aurora-gazing trip through barrow sometime in the next few years

  • what the weather like in summer time, or when is the best time to visit barow

  • after living up in barrow for 5 years I am happy to say I never want to go back.

  • @figureskater2004 How can you say that about Barrow? I'm packin' my sunglasses, a light jacket, some sunblock, and I'm off to Barrow this January where the girls are pretty and grass is green.

  • @wolfsblood07 psht. u better pack a COAT and trust me u dont need the sun block. in the middle on summer it started to snow once. GRASS!!?? LMAO! they have NO grass.

  • @wolfsblood07 remember, barrow is part of the artic circle. its not hawaii.

  • @figureskater2004 I can imagine how cool it is to live in Barrow, to be in such a remote place. With the sun never rising and never setting at different times of year. Don't ya ever miss it?

  • @wolfsblood07 well I have to admit it is really cool to see whaling and seeing polar bears and all different kinds of wildlife. but I like where I live now better than barrow. but everyone has different opinions. I would probably go back and VISIT barrow but never live their again. I really miss walking on the nice beaches though.

  • @wolfsblood07 how the hell can you pack sunglasses and a small jacket to barrow in january...this aint the bahamas it stay minus temps that month...if you do sumthin stupid like that please get it on video lmao

  • @Mr2pacalypse Do you live in Barrow? Because I happen to think it will be enough to have a light jacket in January and I'll be skipping in the meadows with the birds and bees and flowers.

  • @wolfsblood07

LMFAO, I doubt there's any birds and bugs up there. A light jacket for 30-50 degrees? unless your wearing a thick sweater under that, good luck.

  • @figureskater2004 Agree'd.

  • Cmon! You didn't mention the Osaka ;)

  • good congratulations from Brazil

  • some of your facts are wrong, but this was a good video of my home! nice pictures!

  • thanks for show barrow, maybe someday i can visit barrow. its nostalgic and cool.

  • Cool, yes. Literally.

  • i really want to visit barrow but only during the summer

  • Ive live lived their for 7years It blows ass. haha I still think Browers is the best to eat at.

  • @cyclone1134 what did you do for fun? and why did you leave?

  • Nice job....generous of you.

    Would love to see someday.

    Take care!

  • Thanks for sharing! I've always wanted to go to Barrow!

  • how far is barrow from fairbanks ?

  • If i can work out a contract i will be wintering in barrow. it is my dream. after Bethel, Dillingham and Nome; I am stoked to spend a winter or more in Barrow. Nome was intense, but I know Barrow will be awesome.

  • what do you mean nome was intense? I would like to go there to live for awhile....any jobs? way to make some money?

  • I was speaking weather wise. Nome is a great place. Just make sure you are making enough money to live there. Housing is not cheap, but with the gold mine shut down it was getting a little cheaper. I was working for the hospital under contract and that contract included free housing. Permanent they do not give even subsidized housing, they pretty much leave you on your own to get affordable housing and ship your own stuff up.

  • Thanks for the help....isn't there a barge that pulls into nome and barrow? if so, how does one get ones shit on it? and how much does it cost.? I was the full on mountain man in colorado for several years so I'd like to try my hand up there as the forest service is chasing everyone away in lower 48. i figure i could survive up there for awhile. Also i wintered over outside of anchorage a few years back. went into town to get supplies. even worked for awhile...

  • there is, but i do not know how to get a hold of the barge company. there is a lace in anchorage that advertises shipping to and from alaska, the packaging store moving center, i only know there ads, but if you contact them, they might be able to help.

if you want to mountain man, look around dillingham maybe, they have cannery jobs there during season.

  • haha barrows SOO NOT CHEAP is pretty expensive compared to hmm well all the other places in alaska

  • my contract pays for my meals, so i am set.

  • of course its expensive. they have to fly everything up there, otherwise they are putting it on the barge, which takes longer. so, of course everything is expensive

  • I do not know what you do for a living, but before you head up anywhere in the Bush, meaning fly in only areas, you need to make sure of your cost of living and your income.

if you take a job and they offer to help with shipping things up, ship up food, non perishables. food is expensive. the Safeway store does have some good deals, but it is still not cheap.

Bottom line, if you are looking for adventure it is something you will find there. Just be prepared for the cold and remoteness.

  • uhm... we dont have a Safeway up in barrow. we have a bunch of little store, but no safeway, idk if you heard of AC, but we have one of those.

  • yes, i shopped the ac when i got here. just glad my meals are covered in contract. I even shopped at the quick shop. Loving Barrow, the beach is amazing, and I am told whaling is starting soon, I hope I ca see one.

  • yes soon, but now its just the fall whaling. you'd like it better in spring whaling.

  • THIS MUSIC IS ANNOYING AS FUCK.

  • What? They got MEXICANS in Barrow?? You gotta be kidding me, the US is F*CKING invaded.

  • Alaska has been invaded by unitedstatians, it was from russia

  • @eskorbutin89, the United States purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867 for $7.2 million. The British were actually offered the deal first, but turned it down. William H. Seward, the man most responsible for closing the deal was laughed at for purchasing such a "folly."

However, this MONDAY, March 29 is Seward's Day in Alaska -- a state holiday. Enjoy.

  • @JohnnyTRex99 yes, you're right, i made a mistake.... :s, anyway i don't like unitedstatians, most of them are very very stupid

  • @eskorbutin89 CORRECTION! You made a very very stupid mistake. You are in no position to call anyone stupid. Maybe you should try meeting more Americans (not "unitedstatians") before you so quickly pass judgement.

  • @JohnnyTRex99 i'm american, i live in america, but the mistake is yours, america is a continent, so, actually, yes almost everybody i know is american

  • @eskorbutin89 CORRECTION No. 2 - America is TWO continents (North and South). However, the United States is sometimes informally called "America," and only one country refers to its citizens as "Americans." For instance, many American presidents began a speech to the nation with "My fellow Americans......."

  • wow, Nice place :D

But it isnt is any warming-streems up there, like the Gulf streem from Mexico? Same Latitude as NordKapp Norther'n norway ;-)

  • I want to go to Barrow so much, and I've been obssesed with it ever since I first saw it on Google Earth.

  • my thoughts exactly!

  • Great vid , Damn how you guys do it up there in the Artic Circle.

  • I live there on 1:32 thats my friends house

  • Great video...and great music!

  • aaah

  • cool video

  • Lovely little documentary. But why no images of the people of Barrow? Was it too cold to go outside?

  • I use to live there, I still like it there, though right now i live in the 48's. I just wanted to correct u on something. You wrote inuit. inuit's are canadian, the right term is Inupiat. Inupiaq for singular for eskimo's in Alaska. I suggest if you visit Barrow, you go during the spring/summer. Around the end of June to July. That is when our celebration of Nalukataq happens usually. you can find out more a lot of times on the local brodcasting station KBRW site on whats happening in Barrow :)

  • Thanks. That's informative. I'm thinking to moving to Barrow. :)

  • yeah, well then if u are, i guess il see u there sometimes during celebrations or at the store lol.

  • @SuhachiChutchen

Dude all I have to say is, don't expect moving to Barrow thinking "it's going to be paradise". It's a great town full of nice people from what peopel say, but if you have no college or have no interest in working for an oil company, then don't bother moving to Barrow, mainly because jobs are somewhat scarce unless you have college experience with State and federal agencies or if you have *experience* with oil field operations/companies, then you will land a good job at Barrow.

  • @SnowyGrl11 its true that there is 30 days of night?

  • @SorinFromRomania no, its actually about 3 months of darkness in Barrow...a lot longer than the comic and movie claim lol.

  • @SnowyGrl11 3 months ? woww .. i can't believe

what do you do in this period of 3 months of darkness? the airport is open?

  • @SnowyGrl11 why do people CHOOSE to live there?

  • @funrizwan even with the extreme weather, its still beautiful. its a place for those who like to live a naturalistic lifestyle really. if you need a mall, its not the place for you. also, all the people there are quite close knit. its like one big family in barrow. you most likely will be friends with your boss. some people like that aspect. also, the pay is very high...even menial labor. its double the pay basically from what you see in the 48's. some like that type of lifestyle is all.

  • @SnowyGrl11 how long did you live there, and what did you do for entertainment?

  • @TBAKER4230 I lived there for 14 years and I go back every once and a while of course to see my family and do the traditional stuff. entertainment besides the obv. is basically getting to know your family, discovering the land, camping and hunting, staying physically fit. For teens its the same stuff besides going to a shopping mall really. There are also frequent random parties/get-togethers with friends and family. No fast food but there are restaurants. brower's cafe is my favorite one.

  • @SnowyGrl11 I e-mailed them & they replied promptly. Is the Nalukataq like a Harvest Festival obviously with the fauna of the region?

  • @SnowyGrl11 i want to visit Barrow in the winter because before i die, i want to know what -40° degrees actually are! :D

  • omg. BRR you would have to be crazy to live there!! aaah!! Im happy in Arizona and the UK. lol

  • peppes is a good restraunt

  • :O wow ive been in and seen alot of those places you realy captured barrows buety. plz do not comment on my spelling

  • yeahs thats my home town but damn put better fuckin music....

  • hey man! this is soo nice!

    thx for uploading ^_^

  • Nope, not livin in Alaska, but I hope I do. I love the nostalgic and picturesque aurora.

  • Beautiful Video , This is the reason why I want to move there.

  • Visit, maybe. Live there, no.
