  • Rock on! God is an alien from Kolob!

  • To Clarify We do believe in Polygamy It is a Gospel Law. For the Purpose of the Early Church in this dispensation, It was brought back per heavenly Fathers Orders to Multiply and Replenish the Earth. In some instances, such as the Prophet Joseph it was also meant as a Test of their Faith to see if they would Follow Him. As for now, today, We do not practice it because it is against the law and it was stopped because the World doesn't approve of it. The LDS Church Does not Practice it today.

  • Thanks for the Spanish subs. I was reading them and understood many phrases. Thanks for posting this! One of my favorite songs!

  • I so love this song, it's so beautiful

  • I love this version of Kolob. I can't find another recording of it anywhere. I wish you could post the source. I would buy it.

  • Oh, and this was a tremendous video. I've always loved this hymn, definitely one of my favorites and up there with A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief and The Spirit of God. Thank you, I did truly feel the spirit.

  • -Continued-

    6. If Joseph Smith actually was an adulterer and committed sin, why does this make the church false? Need I bring up prophets of the bible who were adulterers? Ever heard of David? God has to call imperfect men who sin, otherwise He wouldn't have any prophets at all.

    7. Judge the church by it's fruits and not be individuals who lead it.

  • -plural marriage cont-

    4. Wives of the men who practiced plural marriage were given a right at ANY time to divorce, which was the only time our church advocated divorce was when one of the wives of one man felt that he was unworthy or not treating each wife equally.

    5. We haven't practiced the ordinance in over 120 years and yet people still bring this up.

    -continued-

  • I would like to clear things up about LDS plural Marriage, which some brought up as an argument against us.

    1. many of the prophets of the old testament took on multiple wives at the commandment of God, ex: Abraham and Moses

    2. There is officially only confirmed that Joseph had two official wives, anything beyond that is unclear and not proven.

    3. Less than 5% of LDS males at any time had more than one wife, and those who did, were those whom were commanded by the prophet or God to do so. -cont

  • The argument in the comments totally just ruined the spirit for me. Aren't we supposed to be respectful of everyone's beliefs? It's the LDS people that argue like this that give us a bad name. :/

I love this song. The music and the lyrics are just amazing.

  • 0:48 "do you think that you could ever through all eternity find out the generation where the gods began to be?" kolob, nearest to the celestial home of god...

  • To understand this song you have to understand Mormon christianity. Mormons celebrate Christ, his life, his death, and his resurreciton through the joy they feel in their souls and by viewing His incredible works of creation. All good works symbolize Christ. God has no end or beginning. Likewise, His creations have no beginning or end. Neither does love, service, goodness, honor, virtue, honesty, morality, being, families, improvement, glory, truth -- all are apart of God's eternal glory.

  • Well, well well! Aparently some people are under the impression that polygamy is always a horrible sin, and that God would never command it and that all who practice it are satanic. Well, I guess since Abraham and Jacob had many wives, they MUST have been wicked, and so all they taught and did in the name of the lord was wrong, and by implication, the Old Testement is not a holy book of God...hmmm...lets go look at the bible again before we start accusing people of blasphemy, shall we?

  • @Shaleiceyy123 don't be hostile, don't be angry, that is not in the spirit of the gospel. there is a difference between arguing and reasoning with people

  • I like how all these comments say that mormons worship satan when they base their beliefs in being good people, charity, love, and being as christ like as possible. Didn't know satan was such a nice and loving person lol. Anyways, loved the song, simply beautiful.

  • Why do all of you continue to entertain him? let him say what he will. the pearl was cast and it fell before swine. ignore him we know the truth and there is no point in arguing with one that has hardened his heart. the day will come that he will know the err of his thoughts, deeds and words. don't lift up your heads in arrogance either. accept and love them that hate.

  • I'm not going to argue the topic of religion with you. Obviously you have nothing else to do with your life at the moment, so you choose to attack religions. Believe whatever you want, it isn't my place to judge. Just remember that when judgement day comes, you might regret saying what you have. That is all:)

  • Most people believe that we Latter-Day Saints are polygamists. Please I want everyone to understand that that statement is false. We once WERE polygamists in the past, only because it was commanded by god to the prophet. Now there is no need for polygamy, and we do not practice it. It is only a few choice people of the LDS church who adopt polygamy when it has not been commanded of god for us to have right now. Please everyone understand that almost entirely our whole church does not practice it

  • @findyourtwilight123 THE FLDS PRACTICE POLYGAMY, ANYWAY MORMONISM IS A JOE SMITH SEX CULT AND BOOK OF MORMON IS A SATANIC LIE.........YOUR DOOMED BECAUSE YOU BELIEVE THE LIES OF JOE SMITH AND SATAN...........NO MORMON IS A CHRISTIAN........

  • @eitoobmiz Oh and just so you know, God says that we must forgive everyone, if we want to be forgiven ourselves, so, I FORGIVE YOU FOR SAYING THOSE THINGS:) I hope someday you will actually see the light in God and ask for repentance of the things you have said. Have a good day:)

  • @findyourtwilight123 NO SUCH THING AS A MORMON CHRISTIAN.........NO NEED FOR YOU TO FORGIVE ANYONE,YOU CANT RECEIVE FORGIVENESS BY SAYING YOU FORGIVE ME, YOUR A SATANIC CULTIST MORMON.......YOUR BLINDED BY SATAN AND WORSHIP SATAN IN YOUR FREEMASON TEMPLES......ALL MORMONS WORSHIP SATAN............I'M SORRY FOR YOU THAT YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THAT.........

  • @eitoobmiz WOW! Do you know anything about our church? Have you ever even read the Book of Mormon?? Im sorry you are VERY MISTAKEN about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Please dont comment on what we beileve in until you come to one of our sunday meetings or sincerely study our doctrine with an objective mind!

  • @19glenner WHAT!!!!!!!!!! YOUR SATANIC MISSIONARIES COME TO MY HOUSE.............THEY LIE ABOUT JESUS AND THE BIBLE AT MY FRONT DOOR...........YOU MORMONS WORSHIP SATAN...........MORMONS ARE SATANIST.................

  • @eitoobmiz how do you figure that we're satanic? What's satanic is that satan has you believing that we aren't the true church, which indeed we are. I feel bad for you that you don't have the light in your life. Read the Book of Mormon and you'll find that light.

  • @alexstinson12 HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.........MORMON S ,THE TRUE CHURCH........HOW CAN MORmONS BE THE TRUE CHURCH WHEN THEY WORSHIP SATAN AND BLASPHEME JESUS...........THE BOM IS A LAUGHING STOCK OF SATANIC FICTION.........WHY DONT YOU TRY READING THE BIBLE.......MORMONS ARE FREEMASON SATANIST............

  • @eitoobmiz k you never answered my question of how you think we are satanic. you clearly are ignorant and have no knowledge of our religion at all.

  • @eitoobmiz we do not blaspheme sesus or warship satan and we do read the bible.

  • @BryceisBibleMan THE DEVIL SITS IN CHURCH AND CAN READ THE BIBLE..............MORMONS WORSHIP SATAN..........JOE SMITH WAS A MAN WHORE AND A FORNICATOR AND WAS A SATANIST........WAKE UP KID

  • @eitoobmiz Joseph smith was a prophet of God and did not warship satan he warshiped God and Jesus Christ and God is the one who leads the church of JESUS CHRIST of latter day saints not satan.

And it is true that the devil can go to church and read the bible but he well not live it and he well not warship God.

And I am a wake I know that God have prophets in todays time and he have a true church that have hes sun name in it.

  • @BryceisBibleMan WHY WAS JOE SMITH A MAN WHORE? WHY DID JOE SMITH WORSHIP FREEMASON SATAN? ANSWER THE QUESTIONS............................ALL MORMONS WORSHIP SATAN AND THINK ITS JESUS........................

  • @eitoobmiz 1st off he did not warship freemason or satan u can not friend 1 thing that is true that says he warshiped satan but u will see that he warship Jesus the christ, and God.

2 were do u see satan in the name of the church of JESUS CHRIST of latter day sants?

3 we belive and warship GOD and his son JESUS CHRIST.

  • @BryceisBibleMan

In respect to you, you can find Free Mason ties go to utlm.org and you can find all the connections that were implemented into the LDS faith. Informative web site give it a try.

  • @eitoobmiz fuck you your an idiot go die in a hole bitch

  • @eitoobmiz why dont you learn about christians then well talk dip shit

  • @BryceisBibleMan

Sorry, but I can't follow a man like Joseph Smith who is supposedly a prophet, because he didn't act like a prophet when he married over 20 women, so of whom were just 14 years old (he was 38) and some of whom were already married to other men! That's just wrong....

  • I am a banana!!!

  • Thank you!

  • please people understand that we are not polygamists

you should try to get to know our beliefs and then make your comments

  • @morita2517 MORMONS ARE SATANIST.............I'VE STUDIED UR SATANIC LYING RELIGION..............

  • @eitoobmiz and why do you believe that it is satanic? What are you reasons?

  • @morita2517 Then what is Kolob? A planet near God's residence? Because that can't be Christian...

  • @morita2517 Youre and idiot. Mormons are polygamists we believe in it and will practice it again, got a problem with it gtfo. we just dont practice it right now. Im a mormon btw so stfu

  • one of my favorites.. it was taken out from the Spanish Hymnbook.. but it is still one of the best!!

  • "(5)They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. (6) I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. (7) But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes" Psalm 82: 5-7

Plain enough, no? We are gods, we are divinity, but we will die like men. Did Jesus Christ not do that? If we are children of God, like Christ why should our death and resurrection be any different?

  • @CoolClarinetist92 Romans 8:16-17! That's a great explanation too!

  • After all why would we be given agency if only to be able to excercise, but we are held accountable for the decisions we make.

  • haha i fully agree with what you say!!! God is all about freedom! I know that God exist (through the power of the Holy Ghost) and we should not fight but love each other:D

Eventually we will perfectly know how everything is ment to be but for know we just gotta believe in the things we've got given.

  • Not trying to offend anyone, I just wanted to clear that up. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I truly believe in this church and everyone should freely be able to believe in whatever religion they choose without being ridiculed for what it teaches.

  • If you have something negative to say, please keep your thoughts to yourself. This song isn't saying there was a beginning to God, in fact in the last verses it repeats THERE IS NO END over and over. This song is meant to make you marvel over that: that there is no end. "Do you think that you could ever, through all eternity, find out the generation where Gods began to be?" is not hinting that there was a beginning to God, but just making you think how mind boggling it is that he is constant.

  • There is one thing I don't agree on in this song and that is where it hints that God had a beginning. It still sends me soaring everytime I hear it. My better half dosen't like her voice much however I think she is fantastic.

  • Isn't Kolob supposed to be the closest star to where God is sort of like how the sun is the closest star to where we are?

  • This is what I have heard.

  • @alexrad1...If I'm not mistaking, Mason's were a group of people who actually did a lot of the labour with the construction of acient temples. Some of this information they possesed has been handed down in its true form. So you would assume some of the information they have would be present in temples today.

  • Do you even know what kinds of temples they built? they weren't mormon temples you dumbass

  • I'm humbled at your superior knowledge

  • You should be, because from what you just posted your saying that even if joseph smith built a statanist temple it would be ok because its a temple. Your a freak

  • well if your a mormon you are.

  • To make you even more happy I'll give you last reply..c'mon you can do it, I know you can..plzzzz

  • Wouldn't have it any other way.

  • lol well thats obvious. Its ok to believe that the indians were jews, that joseph smith is a god now and that your gunna have polygamists wives in heaven its all good yo

  • and there you go with that lack of sense again

  • This is a hymn I am going to have sung at my baptism.

  • I want to go to Kolob with the Saints. Beautiful song.

  • go then lol

  • I am a member, I did not worship Joseph Smith.

You much have gotten your information wrong.

  • Apparently you have and you need to study the history of your church. Are you aware that many masonic symbols appear on your temple walls? and that joseph smith was a 33rd degree free mason?

  • We Believe in God the Eternal Father and in His son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. [Article of Faith one ] & We don't worship him we revere him , he was a latter day prophet in this dispensation.

  • We don't worship Joseph Smith, but he is a key person in the bringing out our church in this day. =)

  • he gets to much credit. He didnt do anything to deserve how much you guys lick his nuts. Besides he had sex with little girls. You really shouldnt say things like hes god like.

IS JOSEPH SMITH GODLIKE???? ANSWER THAT???

  • Es la primera vez que escucho este himno y es precioso, DIOS NO TIENE NI PRINCIPIO NI FIN HONOR Y LOOR A NUESTRO GLORIOSO PADRE CELESTIAL AHORA Y SIEMPRE. AMEN

  • This is hilarious! A song about Kolob.

I never heard this when I was LDS.

  • why hilarious??????????

  • hilarious...because it's a made up place from the imagination of Joseph Smith. It's not biblical. Jesus isn't from Kolob. He's God in the flesh. He's always existed.

  • Would you mind pointing it out to me where it says that? I have always been curious how that misconseption came about.

  • Jesus is God in the flesh and has always been God and always existed...

    John 1:1, 14

    1 Tim 3:16

    Isa 9:6

    Col 1:16-17

Exo 3:14 cross ref John 5:58

  • I didn't know God could die

  • @johnyjamie maybe it's just another word for heaven.... when I was aethiest I thought it was cool to make fun of people for believing in heaven. Now I realize if i have anything worth giving dealing with religion, I need to do it out of love for the person or it's not worth giving. Even if I think it's good advice. Otherwise, I don't have the right. Especially if I want to do it as a disciple of Christ trying to live as He taught.

  • The thing is, Bugsrcool, Kolob is not another word for heaven because it doesn't line up with what God already said (Isa 8:20).

God was NOT once a man born on Kolob who progressed and earned or meritted his godhood!

The Bible says God has always been God. Ps 90:2

Mormons are no different than atheists. They are still lost because they don't TRUST what God says. They don't understand the work of the cross (1 Cor 1:18), they have another gospel (Gal 1:6-9), and another Jesus (2 Cor 11:4).

  • I feel sorry for you that you never heard it. It's my favorite hymn. The only one that I like almost as much is "a poor wayfaring man of grief."

  • The first definition of praise does NOT indicate worship fyi.... so you can praise Joseph Smith without worshipping him.. silly.

    praise (prz)

    n.

    1. Expression of approval, commendation, or admiration.

  • just stop

  • Ps 150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

GOD DOES NOT SAY PRAISE A MAN!

  • Wanna bet?

Genesis 49:8 - Judah, your brothers will praise you

    Proverbs 12:8

A man is praised according to his wisdom

    Proverbs 31:30

a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised

    Zephaniah 3:19

I will give them praise and honor in every land where they were put to shame.

    Zephaniah 3:20

I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth

  • Thank you so much! I have the sheet music of this arrangement but not the recording! They no longer produce this.

  • i know isn't it lame???? The new version not near as good...

  • is this the mormon tabernacle choir version from the fall of 2001 general conference? thanks for the upload

    LDSdotORG

  • Absolutely love this song.

  • This is my favorite video of my favorite song ever!

  • Gracias, Hermano!

  • i heard a version of this song today in seminary but the beginning was violins and such. does anyone know what version that is? i really want it haha

  • Enter "if you could hie to Kolob," there is a version with no lyrics but violins posted by Imyak. or something like that it has around 103,675 views, enjoy

  • Kolob dwells within a start and god lives in a planet that circles it, this is said in the Book of Abraham and The pearl of great price/dogma.

  • UMMM No it does NOT, flameon, try reading it for a change.

  • Yes God Lives nigh unto Kolob. Kolob is a sun.

  • No one knows where exactly Kolob is, and it is believed that it is, well... I guess a star planet. Heavenly Beings live there, but it's too hot and bright for a human to step on or go too close to as is. If you would please stop commenting rude things about it, we would all appreciate it.

  • Ok, that was fantastic! i got chills thruogh the whole thing!!! Nice work! By the way, what temple is that?

  • Thank you for the translation, good work!

  • I love this song!! they sang it at my aunts funeral

  • Only you would believe a lie like the mule. I know that Kolob and I have no doubt that it is there just beyond our sight. Just beyond mortal eyes.

  • I love this hymn, i have learn a lot of precious things from them, but this translation is to inaccurate hope the translator will burn in hell, lol just jk, but really dont post this type of things this way.

  • Himno***

  • ... What is really important is the feeling that expresses this hymn, and the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his only true Church. The translations never have to be literally the same, but the doctrine is a genuine and not because it was composed by a good and inspired poet, but by the personal and confirmed testimony that the LDS hold ... Christ lives.

  • Nice one!

  • i 'm agree

Esto significa que creemos en la trinidad, compuesta por tres deidades distintas, pero iguales en unidad y propósito/Our beliefs about the trinity is: "We believe in God, the Eternal Father and His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit." This means that we believe in the trinity, consisting of three deities separate but equal in unity and purpose.

  • This translation is very approximate - to the point of being inaccurate - and the translator has removed most of the most theologically controversial references.

The first two lines are translated as "Si pudieras ir a Kolob" (If you could go to Kolob) and the second two lines as "y pudieras alli volar" (and could fly there). Fair enough.

But then the next two lines are translated as "?Podrias encontrar el origén de Dios?" (Could you find the origin of God?) This leaves out

  • (continued) the plural "Gods" (as in "Where Gods began to be").

The next bit gets worse. "Or view the last creation, where Gods and matter end" is translated as "?O ver la última creación de Dios?" (Or see the last creation of God?) This isn't even remotely the same thing.

Looks to me like the translator was trying to appeal to Hispanic Catholics and attract them to Mormonism, by not jumping straight in with the most controversial points of Mormon belief.

  • is there a real spanish version of this song?

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • Thank you for this video. This is one of my favorite hymns. I was having a troubling time tonight and your video and testimony helped me so much. Thank you for your Love of the Savior and your Testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Love your Sister Angela
