The final scene in this film was used in a advert called "Fear Of Cheese" showing Barbara having a breakdown because she was exposed to a pound of provolone.

This is a perfect description of someone with ADHD, but they didn't know what that was back then. She'll never be given the freedom to be herself and as a result, will not reach her full potential.
