  • I liked Mike Meyers' first partner better, that Dana Carvey guy. This Deepak guy is funny too and has a cool rap name but its hard to understand his accent and his humor's a bit dry. I understand Deepak used to write for SNL in the early 80's and wrote some of the jokes for the original Wayne's World skits.

  • Wayne would say : how can a genius like Mike Myers become such a total tool when he starts talking spirituality with Maharishi of Bullshit Deepak Chopra?

  • I used to like Mike Myers.... What a dumb - assx!!!

  • Mike Myers is awesome. Jim Carrey understands this stuff too. Two comedy legends.

  • If we keep searching for truth, we will find truth.

  • I think Mike Myers is a wonderful conscious human being. He has found veganism in his spiritual quest. This lifestyle increases your spiritual consciousness and connects you with all life. I also believe that Jesus, the Holy Spirit and His Holy Angels are the way to peace, not a confusing "sage" that muttles wisdom.

  • @MOvegangal Simply consider that every human is god, and when they truly acknowledge that, and then take responsibility for what hasn't been working for them, then they have their full gamut of possibilities.

  • @MrTayloreh you think that you have the answer, that all us are god? If that was the case then of course there would be chaos and no unity. There can only be one Creator to have complete perfection in the universe, don't be an antichrist that causes mutation and chaos and imperfection-doing it YOUR way. There is only one way and will always be one way, don't fight it.

  • @MOvegangal The true way is love and acceptance for all points of view. The one way is every way. That is unconditional love, that is peace. And yes, it often feels like chaos, but I celebrate the beautiful mess of life, that is what keeps possibility and growth in existence. Paradox is life. I accept your point of view, I don't expect you to change it, I just simply do not agree. However I wish you whatever your heart truly desires.

  • God bless u...no I'm sorry...God already blessed u....and keeps on blessing us all :)

  • Enlightenment is about learning up......actually a brilliant quote from the great Werner Erhard!!!

  • @lydian7999 Except that he said "lightening up".

  • Both gentleman are right, if we can laugh at ourselves especally in difficult times, we are moving forward as a world in the right direction.

  • The Love Guru movie was funny in some parts. Mostly just the parts with Justin Timberlake...

Then again, maybe I thought it was funny because I was in a martial arts cult for 2 1/2 years. LOL

I heard that a lot of "New Agers" were angry that Deepak Chopra collaborated with Mike Meyers in making the movie.

  • i didnt knew Mike Myers was related to Deepak Chopra the Great

  • Frank Zappa "Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet."

Chopra is a bullshitter, and when he is alone or with close friends he must laugh at the gullibility of the general public.

  • good for you!

you do not believe all what you have been told....

  • @ChuckyHammer He laughs at his own gullibility. He's the first one to admit he doesn't know what's going on.

  • Gee and I use to think that Myers was a smart guy, poor Mikey just went down a notch in my books.

  • humor is smiling at something, not laughing when you hear it. That's something most don't [want] to understand....

  • Deepak is high minded :)

  • I guess the message is just to complex for some of you to grasp.

    Lol.

All he's saying is that humor helps us cope.

    Oh, and lighten up.

  • Wow, who would have thought Myers was a member of the gullible brigade! If anyone has read anything by Chopra and has a basic understanding of science then they would see straight through the salesman pitch. What a shame.

  • thank u! ive read a little about wat he thinks, and its all spirituality bullshit. its all pseudo science. he supports intelligent design! i mean come onnnn....

  • cute name....but unfortunately, social conditioning has gotten the best of you my friend..

  • I would be genuinely interested if you explained exactly what you meant.

That is if you could explain it in a credible, unbiased and non-hateful matter.

  • Deepak Chopra will be at the Yoga Journal Boston Conference April 6-11, 2010.

  • Deepak is a flake? He's the most well-spoken flake I've ever heard then!

  • Ha! Why is that murbark?

  • i dont believe humour is just for escaping suffering. one can simply laugh out of joy.

spirituality is a huge industry and Deepak is cashing in like everyone else. and the claims made by books like The Secret are statistically impossible.

  • I agree, but when laughing with joy you are also free of any suffering. I think Deepak is amazing but "The Secret" is full of shit and plays on peoples greed rather than 'appreciation' of the world we live in.

The secret and Deepak are two different perspectives about the universe... miles apart!

  • I'm always amazed at how people, usually skeptics, wrap up THE SECRET into a package of FRAUD and GREED. Did you know that Andrew Carnegie at the height of his wealth commissioned Napoleon Hill to write a study of the "mechanics" of being rich? Hill's book THINK AND GROW RICH is a definite precursor of THE SECRET. There are MANY books like it.

Carnegie didn't need or want more money. In fact, he gave most of his wealth away towards the end of his life. There goes your "greed" theory.

  • "The secret" and think and "Think and Grow Rich" adopt 2 different philosophies

The secret is all about ask and you shall get (mostly materialistic greed)

Think and grow rich is all about creating a definete plan which brings value to the marketplace and taking persisitant ACTION. Then the universe will assist you in what it is you want. Deepaks 7 spiritual laws are better suited to Napoleans work

"It is the worst day of a mans life when he expects something for nothing" N Hill

  • So I dont think 'there goes my greed theory'

  • Enlightenment is lightening up....

  • I am a huge fan of Dr. Chopra and own all his books and listen to him weekly on the radio. I do however have one problem that disturbs me greatly. I have written to him several times to ask if his courses are so expensive does his foundation make an allowance for the poor to participate? All letters have been ignored. This is very disappointing. It is fine to make money on his gift but he should spread the wealth by helping the poor. I don't believe he does this based on the lack of response.

  • if his courses were not expensive, too many people would be lining up his door

  • So therefore in your manner of thinking only the rich should benefit from his expertise? I believe he should have a certain number of slots alloted for those of lower income. I believe everyone should be entitled to participate. My letters went unanswered. I did not expect him to write to me himself but that is why he has people working for him. Someone should have had the courtesy to respond....unless of course they could not find the correct words to do so.

  • People will always find money to spend on things that they percieve to be valuable

  • Wait, what?

I can't find the wisdom there.

  • What are you having trouble grasping?

  • Is this jst a small clip or is this part of a vid if so can any 1 direct me in the direction of it?

  • I love the movie that Mike Myers made recently, "The Love Guru". Watching this video helps to make sense of his use of humor and why Chopra would be part of it.

  • How can I experience that enlightment wwhen it seems consiousness is being surpress collectivly outside of myself?

  • then simple ignore what is outside yourself friend.

  • 1: Understand that the suppression comes from OUTSIDE yourself (You seem to know this already, since those are your words)

2: Physically move away from those things which are "suppressive" (workmates, family, Television)

3: Find a restful area, created by God, like a field, a park, a backyard, and stay there and simply BE. Let your mind think what it will think, let your eyes see what they see, and be still and focus on yourself and the universe.

4: Feel better and go home!

  • No offense, but in my mind this is merely a way of hiding from what you perceive to be the problem. The real solution comes from seeing that your not separated from 'the problem', and it isn't really a 'problem'. It's impossible to approach the answer without sounding like a flake I guess, but I think you know what I mean. When you see the world as a place thats gone terribly wrong there may be no place on earth that you feel isolated from the 'problem'

  • My already significant admiration of Mike Myers just went up another huge notch.

  • that is what I thought when I saw it on ifc for the first time. I laughed and cried because I felt very connected to these two as well.

  • Explain why!

  • have you ever tricked yourself? Told yourself something that isn't true to make yourself feel better? Have you ever told yourself your head didn't hurt when it did...and then it didn't. this particular charlatan is sort of like that, he is not trying to deceive us to destroy the world he is simply suggesting an alternative method to heal yourself. Plus we are all connected so it is you that is the charlatan as well.

  • Mike Myers is now a shill for a new age quack?!

  • yes just dismiss the board certified endocrinologist as a quack.

  • i love how all jannulik asked was who is deepak and he got multiple thumbs down :( why are people so uptight?

  • He's a philosopher and writer. A medical doctor and a spiritualist.

  • who the heck is Deepak guy?

  • Can anyone explain why Deepak does not help me?

  • First, decide what it is that u are looking for help with. Mr. Chopra may be able to provide information or inspiration to assist u. However, u may want to coorelate info and inspiration with other sources as well that u do feel speaks to u.

Deepak Chopra discusses and studies many subjects. After u know what u want to study or take action with, perhaps utilize his knowledge as one of many resources.

A rule of thumb "deepak" helps those who help themselves

  • Each individual is different as we have different experiences and therefore different reactions and connections to people and things.

I think if you don't get much from Deepak Chopra you should just be ok with it. You'll find the person who you will "do it for you" and I'm sure Deepak will be pleased that that has happened for you. Best.

  • Dr. Chopra draws from a mix of eastern philosophies which answer your question. A teacher does not teach anyone, they facilitate learning. Dr. Chopra has no magic powers. he only provides great insight and information. You can attend a week long lecture on kindness and compassion but, it won't make you a compassionate person until you incorporate it into your core beliefs and actions.

The inability to assimilate new info or ideas comes from fixed beliefs about ourselves or our world.

  • Much respect to Deepak Chopra! Much respect!
