@Y2H He is not only a baritone but a Verdi baritone which is the highest kind of baritone, and the Toreador song is a fully blown Baritone piece because of its high tessitura...something a bass-baritone couldn't perform well.
@Y2H You seem so confident that he isn't a Baritone, Im sure that if you were to ask him what he considers himself as he would say a Baritone. Better yet look in the MET Voice performer roster and go under the Baritones..look down to the "H's" and you will surely see Dmitri's name under there...get your facts straight before posting your opinion on here.
Does he really need the full volume on the microphone? Nay, not really I think (depends on the concert hall). Again, I know it's hard for him but it(s "cOMbatANt".
I don't really understand you here :-) Full volume is necessary for this song, but it's one of those huge halls where you need the mike... Or what are you driving at?
I mean the mike is necessary so is Dmitri's volume. It's just that I hear a lot of sound coming back at us from the mike. I find that the amplification is maybe too much.
It's disconcerting that the sound & picture aren't 100% synchronized. Seeing him live is incredible. His own website describes him as a baritone.

Great baritone !

@FirreFace He’s definitely not a baritone!! First of all he is a bass, don’t you hear how deep his voice is?
Second, the Toreador character is performed by either a bass-baritone of a full bass.

@Y2H Actually, he IS a baritone...

@Asmerud On the contrary. Most people I saw performing the Toreador song are basses. But you can see why I would think he’s a bass.

@Y2H Wikipedia says he's a baritone ;)

@Y2H Sorry he's a Verdi Baritone through and through, the rich sound he has is characteristic of his voice type and he's definitely not a bass.

I see :-) Yeah, the sound could have been better.

@jhvorotin for TV, of course, he needs.
If you just wanna hear, there, in that place, he doesn't need it.

Great performance by Dmitri!! But Mr. Poutine doesn't seem to appreciate it as much as me...

Au contraire, Putin is Dimi's big fan, he could be seen at several of his concerts! Not sure about Medvedev, sitting right next to VP... ;-)

Well, then he could be a little bit more demonstrative... ;) He look like his is at a funeral... :p
