you get a 2 year warranty vs. 90 days. Also, It's a known fact the leica bodies go thru a more selective process in the line. They pass more QA tests than the Lumix bodies. Other than that, if price is more important, go with the lumix. For me, the warranty is most important. I own 5 Leicas for that reason. I've dropped the Dlux 2 three times and sent it in 2 times under warranty. They fixed it with no questions asked. Now I have the Dlux 4 and I retired the Dlux 2 to my mom's house.
speaks for itself. For such a small chip it does very well... The 28mm wide angle lens is killer. Put it on a tripod and it rivals SDHC camcorders for consumers. It's less obtrusive too. Plus it looks cooler than the Panasonic one.
Quicktime... or at least that what it turns into when I put it into my Mac. iPhoto takes it, then it makes it available for iMovie. Don't know about the codec. If you have a mac that's newer it is easy to put on youtube. You can either go thru iMovie's "share" or thru youtube's uploading proceedure. I find using iMovie works faster. It's a great little camera and the 16:9 aspect is why I got it. Plus the lens... it's a 24mm.
/i love it already... will post more asap. I had the Dlux 2 and got the Dlux 4 last week. it's pricey but worth it and you get a 2 year warranty, not 90 days like the Panasonic sister camera. The movie mode works very well. I am a pro video camera operator and I can use this as a "3rd" angle camera set up on a tripod to get dif. cutaway shots during sit-down interviews.... Go get one!!!!
why dont you upload it in hd? this cam does 720p...a friend of mine has one very nice!

"Is it a Casio?"
OMG .. a casio is nothing, a casio doesn't even deserve being called a camera compared to a leica.

Some would definitely consider me to be one. Personally, I'd like to think that I just like a brand of great prestige. Hahaha.
