Did I count that right? 12 rounds? That must be due to the rimless .308 cartridge taking up less space than rimmed .303. Same thing happened to the P14 when the US made it into M1917 in .30-06. The rimless .30-06 allowed for 6 rounds in the same sized magazine, whereas only 5 rounds can be fit when configured to the original .303 British cartridge. That... or I can't count lmao
@AlyxanderWilliams Right on. Strange that they would make mags with an odd number like that but whatever sells. I'm gonna stick to my theory of making the mag the same size as 10 rnd .303 but ended up holding 12 rnd .308 lol
@NormanMatchem I've figured out that there is a 10 and 12 round mag for the Ishy. A company called Navy Arms apparently sold shortend "tanker" verisons of the Ishy, which ended up looking more like a Lee-enfield No 5. They were sold with either the 12 or 10 (for CA residents). Not sure which was standard on the miltary issue though
I have a R.F.I. Lee Enfield made in 1965 it looks one in the video. The previous owner had stuffed the rifle full of grease and and i'm trying to clean it all out, to oil and lube it properly. I almost have the rifle disassembled but there is like a pin or something holding it towards where the stock around the trigger guard that is keeping the bottom wood from separating from the barrel. keep in mind that everything is disassembled, just not this one pin.
I've got some of the latest/greatest bolt action as well as a couple of enfields, including an Ish308. No bolt action can spit 'em out like an Enfield! Love my Remington VLS and Sendero though!
I have a 66' it's a bit rough looking and still has the rack number on the stock. I found an old used leather military sling and put on it, gave it an awesome vintage look. It shoots very well, action is tight, and a lot of fun..
im having safety probs w my ishy. it wont go all the way back and it will half fire so you have to recock it to do anything. i fired it anyway and after a few rounds the safety lever gets flimsy and the recoil makes it go back to full safe. i think i may have installed the safety lever improperly but im not sure. i would appreciate any advice on this.
order a replacement safety spring (that metal tab on the left side holding the safety on one end and attached by screw on the other). The metal is no longer acting as a spring and needs replacing.
I just completely disassembled my 2a1 for the first time and I'm noticing now that it's back together that the bolt is a little sticky when I start cycling it, and the trigger pull has definitely gotten heavier.
Anyone have anything similar happen? Any idea what I might have done wrong?
I also have an Ishy. I havn't shot it yet, but I've cycled some ammo through it. I've have ejection problems...especially the last 2 rounds from the mag. Does yours do the same? Or do empty casings behave differently than whole rounds?
It's so good to hear that I'm not the only one having that issue. I'm in the same boat. I got it at the Nation's Gun Show back in November, and when I cycled ammo through it, it did the exact same thing. I tried taking out the magazine, and putting it back in a few times, but then the round got jammed a few times. I've been meaning to take it to a gunsmith.
I unscrewed the boltface from the carrier and noticed the extractor spring was weak. I removed the extractor and spring and found the spring was cracked. I just ordered an extractor spring from wolff gun springs. it's for a No.1 Mk3, so I hope it works for the ishy.
@mediamafiaproduction Lee Enfield family of rifles are THE fastest bolt actions going ;) I dare any other bolt action to get 42 rounds on target at 300 yards in one minute lol I recall that was the record, correct me if I'm wrong.

Did you change the settings so that the 480p option isn't available?

@csmybuttt
No, I didn't even realize it was missing. I've no clue why it did that.

the bolt action was specially reduced in lee enfield to reduce loading time.

Nah, 7.62x51mm doesn't kick hard at all. Especially in a rifle this heavy.

@ytykg It does get a little sore when your prone shooting though. Your right though, mine weighs a ton.

ok, the No.1 Mk 3 extractor spring did not work, but I finally found an actual Ishapore spring. it's on the way.

Is 7.62x51 NATO ammo plentiful and affordable ? I have a No.1 MK 3 in .303 that I love to death, but would like to get one in 7.62 NATO also.
serekithegreat 2 years ago
most likely, there's a massive ammount of it in NATO member countries, and that means it won't cost too much.
