  • I came on here just to check if i'd gotten the real ending. The "There are others mightier than you" threw me off because I played on the hardest difficulty with the weakest class. Good to see there wasn't a secret ending i'd missed out on.

  • @xDeadMedic

You played by yourself from that comment.. so you only saw 1 character class on the chess board where as my ending has all 3. =p That's the only difference in the 2 endings. Solo or co-op play.

  • Thanks for posting this, I loved this ending quite a bit

  • @sonic8005

    Alrighty then =)

  • Whoa! 3 vs 1 hahaha, that´s nice!

So, you can play 4 player split screen in N64?

  • @AmirBayareh

Yes. One of the few N64 games you can do 4 player co-op campaign mode. Aside from 4 player deathmatch too.

  • @acidglow That´s nice, Thanks for your answer!

    Have a nice day.

  • Hexen and turok 2 are the most creepy games ever.

  • @JonyzazO

    okay

  • You're talking to a suspended account. LOL. XD

  • crazy.. i never knew you could have more then just 1 piece on the board. all i ever remember seeing was the fighter on the board in the pc version

  • In the PC version, the chessboard only shows only the piece that resembles your class and not all 3. But there are technically 7 different chessboard screens in total in the PC version, it being which class you or your buddy(ies) chose, and how many players were playing coop at the time. The only way to get all classes on the chessboard was to play 3 player coop with one of each class. Now that's epic.

  • 7 pieces on PC? So that's how many classes of each showing up?

  • not 7 chess pieces, but 7 different screens showing the chessboard. So 3 of the screens show only one chesspiece, depending on class. 3 of them show 2 of the chesspieces depending on which class you chose, and which class your buddy chose that is different to yours. The final screen shows all 3 classes representing a 3 player or 4 player coop where you and your buddies have at least one of each class in your group.

  • Ah, cool.

  • A few more monsters would have been nice with some special attribtutes. The ghost monsters in Heretic for example, could not be hurt by some weapons. As well as simply more variation. The weapons are simply what you need. 1st weak start wepaon. 2nd replaces 1st and is used when the 2nd has no mana. 3rd is the standard. 4th is the powerful for rare use. There is no need for more. :/

  • The game simply doesn't need more than 4 weapons due the similarity in enemies health. In general things die in either 1 or 2 hammers threwn. :/ Mace monsters die in 1 or 2. Centaurs in 2. Serpents in 2 or 3. Afrits in 1. Swap creatuers in 1. Ice creatures in 1. It made the game feel less Doomy where the weapons are really weak compared to the enemies.

  • good point

  • I loved the multiplayer on this game. I thought most of the puzzles were kind of easy. A little common sense goes a long way...

  • Yeah, MP was a blast in this game.

  • One thing I didn't like about it was how damned cryptic and hidden things were. The non-linear feel was a neat new thing, but the puzzles are enough to scare alot of stupid dumb people away, which I bet lead to bad reviews. I found myself needing walkthroughs the puzzles, because they got pretty confusing. Like Castle of grief.

  • I DO admire how the lack of monsters and number of weapons each class didn't degrade the gameplay at all. Even with just four weapons, it was fun to smash heads. This made the necropolis fun. It made this game great to me. The atmosphere is good too.

  • They were fine for me. I didn't have much trouble with puzzles.

  • wooo nice upload

good ol eidolon's hand at the end

  • thankx

  • I agree, Hexen is one of the best games I have played

  • Agreed

  • i still cant see how this game got low reviews best shooter/adventure game i played, i have yet to see anything that has the feeling of playing hexen.

    N64 version is best IMO.

  • Yup

  • wtf?!?!?!? all 3 together on the board at once?!?! sweet! Never played Hexen II, so I have NO CLUE who's red hand that is in the black & white picture

  • It's Eidolon. The boss from Hexen 2

  • this game had immense atmostphere from that part of time. the sounds, the background noises, the music, the textures, it really made u feel spooky and mid-evil. it was 16 MEGABYES in DOS mode and took me 10 HOURS with a walkthrough. the levels are in a complez twirl its fuckin confusing. no game since then makes me feel the same.

  • Despite the low Reviews, I loved playing this game 10 years ago in good ol' 1997 with my Cousin. Never seen the perfect ending, so thanks in advance.

  • Agreed. It had low reviews but I fell in love with the game when I first rented it in 1997 and played it all night with my bro.

  • ah the memories lol
