go to the materials tab(it looks like a sphere in the menu on the bottom of the screen to the left) and drag the RGB sliders to color the object, if you still don't understand, then you can go watch my tutorial on materials, I think it is my 3rd tutorial :D

great tut. if youll lower the res of the objects it wont freeze so much. once you have the general shape built then you can increase the res and start sculpting details
