The method involved in creating this is roughly as follows:

A shot is fired from the lightning rifle.

Immediately, its bullet state is changed to 'Dying'

Its bullet state is then locked; Holding it in the 'Dying' state; which for ion bullets causes them to emit shocks.

Since the bullet can't die, it continually shocks nearby monsters.
