the guys explanation of the 1808 monster\basking shark theory was brilliant, EXCEPT he didn't mention anything about the hair on the beast, which all of the witnesses reported seeing.
every time a cadborosaurus is washed ashore, it is explained as a basking shark! I the world is far stranger than we often imagine. I guess it is just as well. If people know for sure a strange animal does exist, the first thing that happens is a guy from an opulent family gets up a hunt to track it down and kill it!
If the Stronsay-thing was a basking shark it would be of huge size. The biggest basking ever measured was 40 feet long. The thing on Stonsay was 55 feet.
hahaha, what a crack up. firstly, what bullshit that that scottish dude found a monster. if it really was, he would most CERTAINLY have taken photos of it and shown the rest of the world.
and about clark's ending "the world's 2 superpowers" gotta love it. end of the 70's was the beginning of "cold war mania" that lasted all the way till the end of the 80's. brilliant how they thought the world would move in leaps and bounds back then.
Why do people always burn or throw back stuff like this?

Scientists are so much wiser & need to tell us what we actually see.

I used to go out with a fat bird. Everytime she lay on a beach Greenpeace would turn up and try to push her back into the sea.

I always preferred Norman Collier or that 'slither hither' bloke.

I'm a big Jethro fan. He cracks me up but Lee Evans rocks my boat.

monsterquest does a better job, it looks at the concept objectively but this was one of my fave shows back in the day

When I was a kid, I was always like this when he spoke at the end, near the water...
"Oh my God, a sea monster is gonna come up and eat him, he's so close to the water."

Loved this show growing up, still do. Not as awe inspiring as it used to be though. I remember a different narrator though.
