Let me tell you. Some if not most of the FDNY firefighters are monsters.I worked in the World Financial Building in NYC.We had shit fire detectors under the raised floors and would go off at least once a week for no reason at all.Well we couldn't find a floor plunger to lift the tiles up.This firefighter took an axe and hacked the tile in half with one shot. These tiles weigh at least 80lbs.Whack,one shot and it was over.Got my respect.lol
Yeah, from doing a ton a research I have found that in fact 10 truck was first on scene, followed by engine 6 (located on Beekman St. just around the corner off Broadway) - Battalion 1 was the first chief inside tower 1 followed by Engine 7, Ladder 1, then Engine 55 from Little Italy was also one of the very first few on scene at the North Tower that morning. Squad 18 from the village also wasn't far behind on one the first SOC units on scene initially.
some big dudes that work the 10 house.I worked in the World Financial Center back in the 90s and one of the alarms went off underneath the raised floor.Well,we couldn't find the lifter to pull up the tile for the raised floor one of the firemen takes his axe and with one shot broke the tile in one shot. Each tile,I beleive, weighs forty to fifty ppunds each. One shot, gone. All of a sudden they found the tile lifter to lift up each tile. These guys picked each tile with one hand.Big,strong dudes FDNY.
@RCcustomPD dude all firefighters are brave...its not only 1 station its everyone that is firefighting saving people lives everyday those are brave people.
So first, the trucks sirens sound like toy sirens lol, and what's with the random guy doing a running jump outta the station after the 2nd truck haha?
I cannot begin to imanage how much things have changed for guys. When I see a film that was shot in NYC and they show the Twin Towers I tear up knowing that they're not there anymore. It must be very hard for you guys. God Bless You and keep you all safe.
i guess i thought the whole point of having a siren was so that it could be heard. if the federal q is too loud for new york city then that means people are paying attention to it haha. that will reduce the number of accidents from people not paying attention.
@EngineNumber5 i think being loud in a city causes to many problems, i think it has to do with all the tall buildings causing sound to bounce around a lot, which makes it very hard for people to know from which direction a firetruck is coming from.....don't quote me on that, i am basing this on my limited knowledge on how sound works
Yeah, engine 7 and truck 1 were first due to arrive, only because of the gas leak. Not to mention, I believe they had a camera crew with them documenting something. Unfortunately, engine 7, truck 1, engine 10 and ladder 10 all got crushed.
Not to mention half of 10 house got killed, and their house was hit hard.
I was listening to the tapes and the surviving members of the collapse were sent out to various areas to help out with other buildings.... Also Battalion 1 arrived as well.
@garf1eld029 Sorry but 10/10 were first on scene, ive talked to guys at the 10/10, and in the footage you see their rigs already pulled up when the guys are gettin outta the battilion car.
How come. Now that I think of it. I never ever heard an FDNY firetruck use a Q, and I go to the city all the time I never hear Q's. Damn I gotta pay attention :D.
i'm not sure why the trucks move out of the station and then the crew gets in. wouldn't it be quicker to get in inside the station before the truck starts up?
Strange... I saw a video that Engine 10 was responding to a fire in John St. (sounds like) and the yellow lights on the back were round! But why lights on this Engine 10 are not round? And that Engine 10 uses automatic siren. Was the vehicle changed?
Question: I had briefly visited 10 House on a trip to NY in Aug/Sept of 2000. I was just wondering how many of those guys made it through 9/11 and if 10 stills run out of the same building.
I only spoke to the guys for a minute and wanted to drop off a patch from my ambulance company in California. They were polite and friendly enough to us.
i rember wen my staiton got a hole truck of new people we had a call it took us 5 min to get to the call i was pissed buy the time we got there we had crap jobs cleaning, paper work, ect.ect
Just a small question but why does every FDNY truck turn there sirens on and the off. I have always wanted to know the answer so get back to me please.
it catches peoples attention compared to just leaving it run....in a big city with heavy traffic just running the siren people up ahead of the apparatus will just get used to hearing it and ignore it
liberty street about 20 feet across the street from the world trade center the tenhouse is still here .. fyi the ten house is only 1 of 2 fdny house that have the same number engine and truck theother one is engine and truck 52 innorthern bronx
