@professorrapport - Lanchbery is responsible for this edition of the score. This is what I like to refer to as Makarova's "ready to bake" production of "Bayadere". Should one want to have it for one's own company, it literally comes in a package, complete with Lanchbery's edition of the score (piano & orchestral parts), videos of the choreography, designs for the decor, but your on your own for costumes. Makarova's bank account number is in there to! ;)
@hnbballerina The third act of La Bayadere is the Kingdom of Shades, not the second. And, originally there was a forth act where the palace walls collapse, but usually isn't done due to production costs.
Eu já dancei duas vezes no grupo do tutu roxo. É bom preparar o fôlego porque o bicho pega, especialmente no final. Mas não tenha medo! Se te escolheram pra dançar ele, é sinal de que você pode. Boa sorte!
I love darcie Bussel she by far the best ballet dancer around. One day i would love to be like her, hopefully my dream will come true, im on the right tracks at the moment! =D x
I've just seen the POB version and Platel did a wonderful job playing Gamzatti. However, there's just something about Darcey that makes her interpretation more memorable.
I thought Ms. Bussell played the role of Sylvia very well, but on La Bayadere, at least what I have seen, I much prefer the Paris Opera version. While of course, Bussell has incredible jumps and turns, Elizabeth Platel of POB really perfected, in my mind, the character of Gamzatti. Bussell comes across as regal and royal, naturally, but I think Platel really captured best the undercurrent of Gamzatti: manipulative, more than a little narcissistic, and very sharp.
Has her tutu come unstrung or are there classical style tutus actually designed that way?

Thank you hnbballerinna! You are quiet right. I should have known better, for Makarova version is my absolute favourite.
There's by the way an excellent article on La Bayadère in English Wikipedia, almost a paper. Thank you for writing

no, this is the last (3rd) scene from act 1, then you have got the 2nd act, Kingdom of Shades, and after that the 3rd act.
hnbballerina 2 years ago
which is EXACTLY what I said...
bolshoiboy8 2 years ago
