  • why the fuck is there a nightelf with a shovel!!!

  • No one sings to YYZ you dumbass!!!! Its an instrumental

  • @opperhammer

I think if you've ever seen Rush live you'll know what KingOfKatamari "means" which I guess means that actually you are the "dumbass" who has never even seen the best band in the world live. Shame on you.

  • @opperhammer Wrong, hardcore Rush audiences sing along to YYZ.

  • @opperhammer Just because there aren't lyrics doesn't mean you can't sing along.

  • heard this on nights with alice cooper!!!!!

  • the chorus reminds me so much of the police lol. don't troll me. i love both bands. the drumming on the hook reminds me of stewart copeland

  • To think, this song is Rush's only official "hit" (#21) after all these years... I refuse to think of them as one-hit wonders. Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, the Spirit of Radio, Freewill, all of those songs were hits in every sense of the word aside from reaching the Top 40. Our definition of "hits" shouldn't be limited to how songs perform on an airplay chart. The crowds singing along to YYZ at every concert certainly feel the same.

  • @KingOfKatamari Same thing applies to Saga and Chris DeBurgh who all had rock radio staples but little pop glory. Pink Floyd, same deal. They had two US Top 20 hits yet sold more albums than any person who had #1 pop singles.

  • @KingOfKatamari Amen!

  • opinions are like assholes. good is good period.

  • @45Hamlin not for afirca those niggers are still selling and killing each other.

  • @MrJonny333031 Would you just read what you've written? Africa is going to be just fine with or without your "medieval world" opinion. There's, however, no hope for you, Mr. Johnny, no matter what world you think you belong to.

  • I think this is about Christopher Columbus.

  • Simply superlative music...masters at what they do. Glad I own a pair of ears!!

  • Australia misses out again....RUSH is non-existent down under......but hey - we got 'Midnight Oil' ?? Fair Trade - my oxy-moron for today.

  • @BigWheelGolf Oh, and you guys got TISM. Fair trade, I guess.

  • fave rush song.

  • Outstanding slideshow! Great Rush tune for it too!! Great job!

  • I would like to think of Steve Jobs, and think that this song describes so well who he was. He truly revolutionized our lives today, and we will miss him forever. iMourn the death of Steve Jobs.

  • The fact that RUSH are behind the beatles and the rolling stones for consecutive platinum albums says it all. they are among the top most appreciated loved and listened to bands of all time and no matter how much cowell and co try they will NEVER find a RUSH. so all the dont represent the ....... bullshit flys out the window - type in ANY other band on you tube and you wont get as much choice or hits as u will with RUSH simple as that and the "establishment" can go watch x acts on xfactor

  • "Rush, you have yet to have to be inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame, by any chance will your next album be called, Thats Bullshit?" -Steven Colbert

  • canada fuck yea

  • @TheBobsmithers You bet your ass I am!!!!

  • I think Superunt43 is a Scot-Irishman.... Just a guess though

  • @TheKabruce How did you guess that? LMAO? Scot-Irish remains a hybrid I remain VERY proud of. "He's not concerned with yesterday?". Since you guessed that, may I ask if you know what 43 is? Bonus points for correct answer on that 1? Few notice or ride around long enough?

  • putting rush in the rock and roll so-called hall of fame is like giving Jesus Christ the nobel peace prize: nice, but a little beneath them.

  • why is there a random world of warcraft screen shot?

  • lol, why was there a random world of warcraft screen shot?

  • The reason why they are not in the hall of fame is because they are too great for it. Rush will help save the world. I'll let you guys in on a little secret. I think that this song and the song 'The pass' from their Presto album are about the same person: these songs seem like guides for The One, The savior who is born again into the world for his "second coming"...I am Rush's #1 fan. visit my forum, the link is in my channel

  • @EsotericTengu You may have a valid point, actually.

  • @superunt43 glad to see someone agrees. hopefully... no sarcasm in your statement.

  • I've heard the 'official explanation' is along the lines of "Rush is certainly worthy in terms of music, but they don't represent the wide-spread popularity that is typical of our nominees".

To me, that translates as "Their music is too good for ordinary listeners".

  • @DJChrisBradley

Exactly. It's a travesty that this group isn't there.

  • @DJChrisBradley "I've heard the 'official explanation' is along the lines of "Rush is certainly worthy in terms of music, but they don't represent the wide-spread popularity that is typical of our nominees""

If someone like Leonard Cohen or Tom Waits is popular enough to be inducted then so is Rush.

  • @DJChrisBradley I soo argree

  • Rush hit #21 in Billboard, 10-30-82. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • Rory Gallagher should have been inducted 20 years ago....go look him up. Jimi Hendrix said he was the best guitarist in the world in 1969. He spanked anyone on a strat....like i said..you have to be popular before anything. Most people that inspired the people that are in the HOF get left behind.

  • a few deserving bands and people (Tom Waits)do get in but come on...Neil Diamond just got in...i never thought of him as rock and roll. He does have 200 million albums sold worldwide(thats why)

  • Tupac should have made a song called "New World Fool"

  • why a night elf @ 1:26...xD ok then

  • These guys come from a time when lyrics actually had to have some meaning. Songs like "Something For Nothing" were not only really kick-ass tunes, but ALSO had meaningful lyrics. Hard to find these days.

  • @TheSkyTripper thanks man but you cant neil young max webster kim mitchell

  • new worl order man not the past

  • Got 2 rush tickets for the concert in glasgow Saturday 14th may can't wait!!!

  • @smeato09 I wanna go; take me with you! Oh wait...Glasgow isn't in Texas is it? ....Damn.

  • @eldongb1 Nope lol Scotland though lol. the concert has been now! can honestly say it was the best concert ever!!!

  • @smeato09 Those guys are the best. I think it should be mandatory that all movie soundtracks include a Rush song from back in the day. Some bands lose it after stumbling into a few hits, but these guys have true talent. A Passage to Bangkok is one of my favorites of all time along with Tom Sawyer. And I'm 25yrs old! Most people my age like crap. I like real music. Hemispheres and 2112 are some of the best music of all time in my opinion... and my father's ;-)

  • @eldongb1 Well i am 14 years old and all the people my age listen to main stream crap too. i love clasic rock and metal its really too good!

  • @smeato09 hey, I'm 15 and i listen to the same stuff along with blues and jazz and almost everything released. but you know what you're 14 and thats awesome that you know good music and music that has heart and meaning but because you're 14 doesn't make you any different from the 30, 40, 50, 60, how ever old they are. just means you love music with meaning. more power to you man, rock on!

  • Saw Rush in Detroit last night. I don't know what to say. Freaking brilliant!!!!

  • three cheers for the new world man. May 'he' learn the self-control mentioned and harness all that power for good. (Written by a new world woman visiting the old world.)

  • THIS SONG IS AMAZING

  • Madonna is a corporation, Rush is an amazing rock n roll band. Best canadian band ever, without a doubt.

  • And No Grammy's yet either. Hands down Peart is much better writer than Bono.

  • These guys are such geniuses! The lyrics are so clever!

  • This was fucking Lame!

  • i dont think that this song is about literally the "new world" its about the new generation. and its funny it works for both last generation and this generation. P.S. Talkin bout my Generation. who reference. sorry... that was necessary

  • This song is AWESOME! But why the pictures of random farming equipment?

  • pure songwriting class

  • I was so happy I got to see these guys live over the summer. No one concert is the same for everybody, but Rush isn't just a concert, it's an EXPERIENCE.

  • I remember playing over and over, especialy the bass run Geddy does at the end(3:27-3:30 and 3:33-3:36) GEEEEZ...It's now that I realise what an incredible amount of wealth Geddy's playing was for me way back in the day.

  • my dad got me into those type of bands :)

  • This song could be about

    The Growing USA

    Bill Gates and IBM

Or about a alien lifeform coming here and helping us (More like Pink Floyd but you know)

  • WHY aren't these gentlemen in the rock 'N' Roll Hall of fame?

  • @rmww117 because Micheal Jackson and alot of other Hip hop pop cock kinda people are in there. When they say Rock and roll hall of fame the description is far from accurate

  • @rmww117 Because they're too damn epic for the Rock 'N' Roll hall of fame. They'll have a monument put up in Ontario after them :D

  • @rmww117 WAIT THEY ARENT?!?! i actually could have sworn people as good as this would be in as soon as possible

  • @27Lechmann Unfortunately not :(

  • @rmww117 Because some would say they're too controversial. But I love them and I think music is part of the motor of the world. I think they'd agree. They deserve the distinction of the rock and roll hall of fame. Not everyone is entitled to that, but they've more than earned it.

  • @rmww117 I know man, Rush deserves a spot.

  • @rmww117 Because they thought Madonna was more of a candidate then a real band I guess. Not that I hate Madonna.. I think some of her stuff is cool. She's a cross over so I guess they thought because she connects to different genres she was more worthy. But Rush will (or has already) be placed in. And when they do, it will be big for Rush fans and anyone attending.

  • @rmww117 because they are Canadian.

  • @sunflowerofpeace

    ...no.

It's because Rush has been critically panned their whole career and despite paying attention to things that actually matter - like records sales, longevity, musicianship etc. - the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame [which is a total fucking joke] would rather base their decisions on what Douche McGouche of the Rolling Stone or some other such worthless magazine says. And a lot of critics didn't enjoy Rush 'cause it wasn't straight forward rock.

    That's my two cents.

  • @RossSewage You know, I grew up with Rush, one of my friends had every album ever made,I heard it all at every party up ...way up in the Great White North.Besides Floyd I can`t think of a more intelligent band who actually had something to say,and the musicianship ,well, speaks for itself, cheers from BC

  • @sunflowerofpeace

Not that I actually give a squirt about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but, obviously you're right. If they were from the states or, at least British, they'd have been in long ago.

  • @Fakename70 totally agree, maybe it is more an honour to NOT be in it, cheers !

  • @rmww117 Because The Rock "N" Roll Hall of Fame is nothing but a HUGE joke!!!!! They don't deserve a great band like Rush!!

  • @rmww117 because they are prog, prog = public dislike. unfortunately. RUSH NEVER DIES!

  • @rmww117 I think it is because they are Canadian.

  • @tacomadavid68 if that's the case then the Beatles wouldn't be in the RRHF either... it's because their type of "rock" (progressive) wasn't considered to be qualifying for the RRHF which is a laugh considering WHO they seem to be inducting lately...

  • @rmww117 Probably because they're Canadian, and more musicians than "stars".

  • @rmww117 Cuz they are still kicking ass, you have to be a retired bum to be in there.

  • @rotvalo thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard do your research before you try to tell other information there are plenty of bands still playing today who have been inducted

  • look up rock and roll hall of fame induction process

  • @rotvalo no you dont... your songs/hits have to be at least 20 years old to get you in.Granted most bands that get in are already broken up but theres alot in the HOF that are still active....most of the bands that are in are top 40 bands. Rush probably wont get in for a long time because while they are popular...they only have a couple of hits that made it into the top 40 or albums that went past platinum.Thats why the Sex Pistols told the hall to fuck off and refused induction.

  • @netrioter not because of Rush not being in,but because the process on how you get in is based on corporate bullshit...its mostly about sales and not about music.Madonna is eligible to get in the HOF for fucks sakes.lol

  • @rmww117 Give it time, Paduan...they will be there....they better be, dammit!!!

  • @rmww117 The Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame isn't adequate honor for Rush :D

  • @rmww117 because the hall of fame is run by dipshits?

  • @GutsyguyPrime Thank you my friend. I remain Scot-Irish so therefore my Mom does not allow me to say dipshit.Even though I know dipshits and dumbasses run the country and the world.

  • @superunt43 I thought I was only Scot-Irish guy ridin round? You are aware we are quite the RARE breed and quite PROUD my friend? I am assuming you were commenting about Rush. Apologies. I just noticed the Scot-Irish comment. And yes I am quite aware of the state of current leaders. I remain both Scot and Irish my friend. I am also American, however I know who my ancestors were. I remain DAMN proud of that fact. New world man? And yes I wear a kilt once in a while, very proudly.

  • @rmww117 the rock n roll hall of fame doesnt deserve a band such as rush

  • @rmww117 Theyre too good for that.

  • @rmww117 Hall is too worried about "The Meat Dress"

  • @rmww117 Cause there too good to be in the Hall of Fame!

  • @rmww117 Because theyre from Canada.

  • @rmww117 The hall of fame is overrated. They don't have to be in it, when they're already in our hearts.

  • 0 people have to be some random thing...

    Go Rush!

  • The opening sounds like it could be a Police song.

  • @endgammer Police coppied thier sound offten, but its all good

  • @SuperMrMalibog Perhaps. I'm not a big fan of either.

  • @endgammer The style seems to lean toward the Police.

  • Dat guy can play da bass.

  • great song!!!!!!!!

  • world of warcraft smells bad

  • This song is from the Signals album.

  • Could have used about 2.5 times more pictures, but still good :P

  • thanks for posting this. it's on signals.

  • They made dozens of brilliant songs,as a musician you want to play their songs.

  • he's got to make his own mistakes ~! and learn to mend the mess he makes <3

  • Comment removed

  • I thought this was on Signals.. I have the CD! lol

  • @cncdolphins yup its on signals(:

  • 19# in hard rock ratings is tom sawyer

  • Errr its from Signals......

Oh good I see its been pointed out already...

    Carry on..

  • so that's the story?

  • You know this is on "Signals," right?

  • Signals

  • What the? There must be TWO azbill2's because I didn't write that.

  • Aimtrue is correct. This song is describing Pilgrims as they discover America.

  • @azbill2 The same thing happened in Canada though, didn't it?

  • @sandro28grizz Yes I think it was just different groups of pilgrims landing at different spots on the Atlantic Coast of North America.

  • I like contrast between this contemporary song and the imagery from centuries ago when the "new world" was truly new to pilgrims.

  • i got into prog rock at the age of 17 thnx to my dad, great band

  • HIt #1 rock, #21 pop in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in Canada? God bless!

  • Hella great song up there with My Girl by Chiliwack. They both happen to be Canadian groups that put these songs out about the same time (81-82). I was 16 then a great time. You're only young once and my youth for the most part was a friggin blast. That's what keeps me young now in my middle age.

  • @Nivicoman Right on brother...Keep on rockin you'll never grow old!!!!!
