whoa union hands bear in mind we all do the same job we both have useless tit suckers where i live union is non existance well they are here but there is never work so in order to eat. anyway im headxed north and willing to join if the work is steady, and i have run union jobs as an aprentice here because of lack of exp-erienced folks and so forth at 22 years old thats just wrong
I'm a union ironworker apprentice and I haven't met a lazy man yet but I do know everything u rats do we have to come and do right keep up the good work rats. Local 22 Indianapolis
@moego420p i think the piece of shit fuckin rat that wrote the ( unions are lazy) couldnt hang his fuckin hat right...sorry ass rat fuck ......FROM RADLEY LOCAL 433 IRONWORKERS LAS VEGAS
@moego420p Why don't you come say that to me son? I guarantee you one thing boy come try working with me for an hour busting rod you will go home sucking on your thumb and wouldn't be back the next day for work!!! ;)
Getting in the union might be a mission impossible It sucks that Not everyone is going to get in when 800 people try out and there only going to pick 60 people a year to let in.
@tonlo2006 Best of the best or you gotta know someone . Most of my apprenticeship class is family of members and helmets to hardhats . Not me . I don't know anyone in my local . Maybe I tested well .
@viciousbill So I've been told . Quick question Would it better to serve 2 yrs in college in a Applied science degree toward Welding , or 4 yrs in the Army , which one would give me a better chance of getting in ?
@tonlo2006 Well you run the risk of dying in the army . Getting an Applied science degree toward Welding will not get you in any faster and Training is free in the apprenticeship . Work is slow . So they are not taken many people . My district only took 65 in 2008, none in 2009 , 14 in 2010 , and I heard they were not taken a 2011 class . So keep trying or buy a your book .
@callujah Off the top of my head . Bowline , sheets bend , figure 8 , square knot , Clove Hitch with a half hitch This should get you through the first year . Until you start rigging . You must also know what they are used for .
I am very tired of seeing crab fishermen and lumberjacks on tv, this is the scariest job in the world and you need balls of steel. Why isn't there a show on these guys?!! - thumbs up if you agree and thumbs up if you don't agree.
@gndzroirnwkr Ouch! I don't know if I have balls of steel, but the rest fit the bill. I have been an Ironworker for 6 years and God willing I will be an Ironworker for the rest of my life.
And for the dude looking to get into the business...Find a construction site where Ironworkers are working and ask to talk to the foreman. He will be able to help you. You can work for a private company if the Union is not "hiring".
@ThePluke85 it's not as easy with no connections to the union hall, however it's still possible to get in. Iw721.org has info about our local. There's a test once a month to get in, half is aptitude based and the rest is math. Unfortunately I don't think were taking new members just yet but it never hurts to ask. If your able to get to etobicoke the hall is at 909 Kipling if you wanna check it out.
Local 22 here. (Indianapolis) Attn: all ironworkers. Ive been in the trade for a long time; and also a member of 9-11 truth. But before you jump to so im an idiot for my beliefs about 9-11 i hope you all do your own research. especially in the case of the molten steel present in wtc7 along with the twin towers. Heres a small video out there that just barely scratches the surface. NOTE: REMEMBER THAT 6 OUT OF THE 10 COMMISSIONERS OPENLY STATE THAT THE ORIGINAL STORY IS A COMPLETE FABRICATION.
