hey im having a problem with my mustang and i think i have the plug wires all wrong can u tell if i do cause looking at other videos its looks different than what i have i have a video of my mustang and would appreciated if u can c if i have it all wrong plus the timing is off compare to what i seen where other mustang have it oh yeah and its making a popping noise. well b waiting for your reply laters nice car man!
To check if your timing is off then first make sure cylinder one is at TDC and your timing mark is at 0 then find your #1 plug wire and then take off the distributer cap and see where the rotor is pointing. if its not pointing at where your #1 plug wire was then your timing is off.
@ACHEESEDANISH00 Not necessary. Just get some cheapo timing light and make sure the motor is timed correctly by looking at the marks on the harmonic balancer from underneath the car. That car should be set at something like.. .10 degrees before top dead center. Real easy to do, no need to go pulling the distributor cap.
it's isn't the timing unless its pinging but dont go much on the timing unless you clean most of the carbon out of the engine but even with that don't go any higher than about 18 or 19
@cagonesss it depends on the motor... some motors like stock base timing at 10 some like 14... u just have to mess with it and see what you like best... best thing is to take it a dyno and tune it and see which has the best curve...
If you just installed a cold air intake system you want to make sure the pipes are the right size or it will mess with your maf sensor. also you should check your spark plugs for oil.
is it only while it warms up?? mine is doing that right now too, and i just had some electrical work done. it sputters and has no throttle response for like 5 min while it warms up, but them runs like a champ. let me know if u hear anything.
I have the SAME problem! Can't figure it out. changed out Coolant Temp sensor, Air Charge Temp sensor, completely cleaned IAC, TB, and BBK CAI filter. Its an 88 and had MAF conversion, can it be a faulty IAC or MAF? or something else . . .
@freeloader700 does it want to stutter when its first started or when u put it in the gear those are common symptoms of your idle air controller going bad

anyone know if its ok to have a 5.0 motor timed at 12 dgrs or just keep it at 10? wich one would make the car perform better?

@solsticeaddict1 what if they are oily is that bad?

try checking your o2 sensor if it only happens till it gets warm it might be the o2.

it might be the mass air flow sensor or the iac sensor but its most likely the mass air flow sensor but check the iac too

Sounds like a mass air sensor to me man
