Hey man, i know this has nothing to do with the video, but how do you like the WGS speakers? I'm trying to upgrade a cabinet and every video I've heard with them in them sounds awesome. Sound like they have a nice mid balance and low end
Sounds great ! how you modded it for more gain ? I found a schematic for this amp that adds a footswitcheable boost with a 9V battery between each triode of the 12ax7. What I'm about to try on mine is to adapt a compactron tube to the 12ax7 socket (it just plugs in the socket) and that one has 3 triodes so adds an extra gain stage.
cabinet, would you use one green beret and one veteran 30, or 2 green berets, or other. For mainly classic rock, or EVH sound. I just bought a Pinnacle pedal to
My stock little Giant seems to be voiced more towards higher mids and pretty tight bass. I kind like the this sounds though. Think different speakers would help me?
Cool. I never thought of using ceiling tiles. I just installed some 1/2" soundproof board in my music room. It is connected to the family room so I hope this is all I have to do.
I actually insulated the walls, installed the ceiling tiles over the studs, drywalled over that and then installed another layer of ceiling tiles... works pretty good actually!
Wow..sounds great Brian...superb...I love your stuff...Now if only I can get my hands on the Super-Plex...Man, none of your online dealers have it in stock, and a one month wait period !!! Damn !!!
Nice playin' on this one Brian! I agree with an earlier post, these amps are great right out of the box. Place your favorite (Wampler) OD or Distortion in front and you are good to go. Also I opened mine up and was amazed by the neatness of the layout and component quality.
Not sure, honestly!! I just modded this one for my own personal needs... I'd probably say $250 or so though if someone wanted me to do theirs. It's a bit time intensive.
wow great clip if this a mod you will be offering in the near future count me in,so this mods would in probe in how your pedals would interact with this amps?
Valve is the way to go :) I know guitar guys that think digital sim amps are the bomb??? and seriously! they sound like crap to my ears!! the guys set up in this video is GREAT!!! follow his advice
Well obviously I don't expect you to say you changed R10 from 1.5k to 15k to even out the top end etc but the general idea behind them was... what exactly?
sorry - it was posted in the info section but for some reason isn't there... Hmmm... anyway, here's the skinny. I modified it a bit to have more gain, be a bit tighter on the bottom end as well as be less spongy. I wanted something closer to a Matchless type of sound through a marshall cab
Thanks, thats what I was looking for. I can't get the sound out of mine, or close to it. Even with the volume dimed and a high output pickup, I can't get it to overdrive like that. Any idea what the cost will be for the upgrades?
Stock, it def DOES have gain. I restructered the gain stages a bit so it boosted mids and highs first, then boosted lows lastly. Stock it's the opposite. Change the plate resistors, add some resistance between stages. Contemplating on removing the 3 band eq totally and going with more of a baxandall type control before the EL84.
what marshall cab is this?

@35and4 Marshall 1960A 300W, retro fitted with the WGS speakers.

i said it's an MG becuase there is no white piping on the grill cloth and no 1960A badge.
joshuarugg 1 year ago
Do you think this amp will do as a "low wattage plexi" for the studio ?
adam10603 1 year ago
MG cabs are card board. lol! that cab should thank you for saving it's life. haha
joshuarugg 1 year ago
@joshuarugg it's not an MG cab. what makes you say that?
wampcat 1 year ago
@wampcat sorry there is no 1960A badge so i assumed. your an awsome player though. god bless you bro! :D
joshuarugg 1 year ago
@joshuarugg It looks like an MC412, MGs are smaller than normal size.

So if you were building the ultimate 2x12
cabinet, would you use one green beret and one veteran 30, or 2 green berets, or other. For mainly classic rock, or EVH sound. I just bought a Pinnacle pedal to
use with it.

Hi Brian, What did you put on the walls in the room you are recording this in?
mrstar74 2 years ago
That's the inside of my little homemade soundproof room. It's acoustic ceiling tile that is glued and/or nailed onto the inside of the walls.

what do you think of those Agile guitars, Wampcat?
rfphill 2 years ago
For $200ish, I dig it! I've been thinking about swapping the pickups out but right now it's all stock.
wampcat 2 years ago
wampcat, thanks for answering that question about the guitar. I hadn't heard of them & now it looks like I'll check into this Agile guitar soon.

yours may be faulty... I can get that kind of crunch/drive easily with low output PAF style pickups.... :\
