You have to know your rights! The cops could have ticketed you for skating where you're not allowed, but they are NOT allowed to take your skateboards. Unless they are arresting you (which they shouldnt be doing eather, since breaking a bylaw is typically only a ticketable offence, they can't arrest you... unless you commit another crime in the process) they are never allowed to take your stuff.
I agree, i have had similar trouble being a skateboarder myself, and i just use my knowledge of my city's laws to get them to leave me alone, and it is always good to film so you have proof in court of any injustices.

You have to know your rights! The cops could have ticketed you for skating where you're not allowed, but they are NOT allowed to take your skateboards. Unless they are arresting you (which they shouldnt be doing eather, since breaking a bylaw is typically only a ticketable offence, they can't arrest you... unless you commit another crime in the process) they are never allowed to take your stuff.

I agree, i have had similar trouble being a skateboarder myself, and i just use my knowledge of my city's laws to get them to leave me alone, and it is always good to film so you have proof in court of any injustices.

A skateboard, however, is a legal object. We are allowed to own them, which means a cop can't just decide to take them from you. However, in a few states, you can carry one around. You say that when used illegally they can be taken away. The difference here is the crimes. Using drugs is against state and federal laws, hence, strong consequences. However only bylaws restrict skateboarding. The cops can only take your stuff when they arrest you.

No matter what sort of comparisons you want to make, a cop can't take your skateboard away unless he is arresting you, which he can't do when you have only broken a bylaw. They should come out with a high quality Top 10 skatepark to then enforce such laws. The only reason why America came out with some skateparks is for political reasons that Japan is kicking YOUR asz. Notice the production of skateparks has completely stagnated. They don't really give a crap about you and skateboarding yet skateboarding a Top 10 skatepark is clearly the best sport in the world.
