Did a track day on it last year (Oulton Park, UK) and apart from melting the tyre edges, it brought a few onlookers out on account of the noise - "sounded like a Mescherschmitt" was one comment (not sure if was a compliment or not....)

No it's not- it's a sportsbike and if the hunkered-down riding position doesn't get you the high footpegs will- after 1 hour tops. There's a "touring" handlebar kit and footpeg lowering kit available from Wunderlicht but you're better off with an RT or GS if you want to go for long distance cruising.
@SailSafaris I have a r1100rs, not sure if the performance is the same as the S but you sit up a bit higher and is good for long distances. Mine is very quick and sporty and good for long cruises, you get the best of both worlds.

whats the mpg on this bike I got a zx636 a1p looking to sell it earley next year as i finish paying finance on it hope i can find a r1100s for under 2300 quid

It sounds like a yapanese 4 cylinder... but not like a german motorbike with 2 cylinders in boxer arrangment

I notice one huge flaw with this bike is the way you cant get your knees down all the way without hitting the flat twin engine.

It's a flaw of all the Boxer engines. Dragging the cylinder head is a real possibility in extreme cornering.
