  • Shame this show was gone before it had the chance to get really going. I think the whole storytelling through flashbacks gave backstory without constant long monologues about everyone's past. In America, ABC dropped the ball. Show had too much potential and genuine intrigue to just go off the air like that.

Oh well, give or take 10 years the show might come back. It happened with Cupid.

  • Like a lot of cultural elements those that dislike real life human interaction usually

display potty mouth tantrums and a lack of perspective. Real life is not about X men

or war games. It is about human values and that is alien to those with tunnel vision.

  • If you like Defying Gravity, give Stargate Universe a try, pretty much the only other sci-fi character drama on TV since Caprica was cancelled.

  • @01000001011100100111 And it got cancelled............fucking tv can suck my dick.........Caprica, Defying Gravity and now SGU............meanwhile fucking jersey shore, fucking american idol and all the other shit people watch is fucking coming back............fucking retards

  • I can see why some people disliked this show, but overall I found it very entertaining. Its pretty fucking lame that they canceled it before the first season was even up. They were just starting this mission and it just got cut off.

My only beef is that it looked too much like 2009, and also the sex-drama did not seem to hold up as well as the sci-fi aspects of the show, when it was all said and done.

  • This is one stupid fucking pathetic show. It's like Young and the Restless in space. This is like 90210 in Sci-Fi. Pure crap and cheese.

  • @diamonddust22 youve clearly have never seen the young and the restless then..........this show was great..........and how dare you compare it to a fucking soap opera.

  • @IGNsucks Go fuck yourself you punk. Defying Gravity was crap and always will be crap. It was a fucking soap opera in space, nothing more. Clearly, you like drama and soap operas, cause they is why you watch that trash.

  • @diamonddust22 You really know nothing...........if you think this show sucks then you dont now shit about TV.......

  • @IGNsucks ahahahahah you are really stupid aren't you? Defying gravity was crap and was a soap opera in space. You sound like an immature little pussy who is bitter because his Young and the Restless in space was cancelled.

  • @diamonddust22 right Im the immature one, cause Im the one yelling "pussy" and "fuck" non stop............look kid grow up and then come talk to me.............you clearly never seen young and the restless cause defying gravity is nothing like it........great show

  • @IGNsucks Yes I have seen Young and the wasted when stupid females watch it. The Defying Gravity is just another space age soap opera, boo hooing for an hour.

  • @diamonddust22 you clearly didnt give it a chance

  • this never aired in sweden and i am to stupid and legal to download it. was it any good?

  • is there a season 2 ?

  • what a pile of boring shit way to slow. The characters are so boring who gives a shit. Shit or get off the toilet.

  • In tne previous paragraph you could replace the word "COMMUNITY" with "CONNECTEDNESS"

OOps! I've gone all quantum, or is it spiritual?

    :)

  • God bless the crew of the Antares!

In my mind they endured all of the challenges, their sense of compassion, faith, and community kept them strong, they completed their space mission, and all of mankind benefitted in the process.

Bless the writer, the cast, and the crew!

    And

    Thank You!

  • It was intelligent, sexy, witty, poignient, compassionate, and had a lot of heart.

No wonder it was axed then!

After all. the fat controllers don't want you to start thinking and feeling - do they? - You might wake up!!!!

  • The show tackles issues like "Obeying Orders", and when it might be morally wrong to do so (hmmm, I wonder what the "In Charge" people would do if the UK and US soldiers deployed around the world said "This is wrong, I'm not going to do this any more!").

It also shone a light on religion and spirituality, beliefs (paradigms?) - which is probably why Jen couldn't see the Alpha.

  • I don't watch much TV, but this show I like, a lot!.

The cast were brilliant, and Donners "thoughts" added an extra dimension, adding to, and underlining the story.

In the UK the BBC moved the schedule around so much, you had to look for it, rather than it just being "on" at a certain time.

  • I have watched all 12 shows. Fantastic. Odd ending so I take it was pulled. When a top class program, great acting and fine effects with plot its just to much for the low IQ middle class in the UK. If its not karoke or dancing its got no chance. Great Sci Fi, hope it revives itself.

  • @matthepple1 ... but there's 13

  • I only saw 12. Just watched the series and Sky'd it to record series. Tell me were it is!

  • watch.spacecast.c o m / #clip200589

  • *SPOILER HERE* (maybe) Yea what the hell?? I dunno where it went. I came here to see if I could find the episodes. The last one I saw, they got away from Venus, was that the last? Coz I was really getting into that show.

  • i'm from poland, i'm living in uk right now and have been watching this on BBC, this one is one of the best shows around, it's amazing, i got hooked up on it after watching one episode! and i'm so amazed that they discontinued it. maybe as somebody before (in comments) mentioned, this may be because avarage viewer wouldn't be able to follow such complexed and twisted plot

  • english episodes havent ended yet and if the have we got up 2 episode 12

  • this is sooo sick i hope they havent cancelled it but they sed episode 10 was the end but they WENT 2 12 and also theyve left so much 2 go

  • I can't believe this was pulled.

SGU and V fail in comparision

  • is it possible to get it on dvd??

  • The series is reported to be released on Blu-ray some time in January 2010, and scheduled for DVD release on January 19, 2010.

  • How do we do a petition for they not cancel the show? This show is awesome. Portugal haven't yet but i'm sure that will be a sucess.

  • US shows ended with the "love, honor and obey". Reports suggest other episodes will appear on Hulu or iTunes...though nothing yet. CTV showed the full season, there's hope for the UK. This was the first innovative show I've seen in a while...ok, the science was hokey but between the crap reality shows & these little cop dramas that are too easy to figure out...guess I'll be watching reruns of Top Gear and Dr. Who. & the song at the end of Bacon is That Home by The Cinematic Orchestra

  • WHAT?! How can they cancel it? This is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. I bet they thought the plot was too complicated for the average viewer to follow! Haha. What season did it get up to before they canceled it? I'm watching it from the UK and we're still in the first season.

  • RIP

  • i loved this show

  • seriously they canceled it??? im in uk we are just half way threw the 1st series so unfair

  • does anyone know the name of the song/artist featured at the end of episode 6 - Bacon? Sooo need to buy it....thanks x

  • the bastards canceled it

  • Amazing series. I hope to god that there is going to be a Series 2, 3, 4 and more!

If i won the lottery I would fund this series fo sure :-)

Where can we sign this petition then?

  • Defying Gravity was the BEST new series I've seen in a long time, but ABC cancelled it!!! Just goes to show ya that ABC doesn't know when they have a good show, yet they keep stupid shows on like that boring show that I refuse to watch, Desparate Housewives. Idiots!!!

  • Best Series in a long time the rateings only dropped because various networks didnt give it a set time, people who loved it had to literally revolve ther life around watching it which caused people to drop it ABC is a joke.

But then again silly Americans can give us another boreing ASS reality TV series. I vote Petition. People have been watching to much reality TV that they dont know what a good show is if it smack there fat ASS in the Face with a bag of Chips

  • Gah...it's getting canceled and all we can do is start a fricking petition. :(

  • This show is one amazing adventure. Episode 13 is one of best I've ever seen on a tv show. Science is only a part of Defying Gravity. Its about stretching the imagination ,courage and convictions. It builds up to episode 12 and 13. You have to see it to understand. Wonderful actors and writing about ordinary people who are heroes. If you don't see it you are missing something you should not be missing.

  • Brilliant show, ABC obviously has a bunch of morons running it who decided not to properly market a great product and then wonder why they don't make money off of it...

  • This show has been cancelled. Yes you had to use your brain a tiny tiny bit, thats too much for US audiences it seems.

    Yes it has been cancelled.

  • pple virtuality will be the most amazing sci-fi show after battlestar galactica! ronald d.moore is fantastic! the series will begin i think in january! and also stargate universe!

  • love it , dont cancel it

    Grazieeeeeeee

  • How did someone get to watch episode 10 ABC canceled the show after episode 8. Where can I see the finally episodes. My family also loves watching this show and was very disappointed to see it go.

  • This show started off very well but at episode 10 it's getting a bit ridiculous. The science advisors to this show have clearly never cracked a textbook. It takes 3min for light to travel to or from Venus for one but hey lets make a phonecall to Earth. The sheer complexity of a manned single mission to multiple planets in the solar system is complicated enough without all the trite characters and their mediocre drama. This show will get cancelled before season 2 on the basis of poor writing.

  • Your prophecy appears to be coming true. Although I hear they will air the final shows at a later date, there is a good chance of cancellation. The fact is today's television leaves a lot to be desire, however, this show is a science fiction program. Emphasis on FICTION. We know that FTL won't happen in our lifetime. But on TV, it's ok. I enjoyed the show and will miss it.

  • agreed :)

  • Yeah because man has never made strides in technology before...it would be completely impossible for us to come up with a way to communicate over great distances in real time, just like it would be impossible to clone a sheep.....oh...wait...

  • I see your point and I would have totally been okay if they had at least attempted to give an explanation for it... like the "whatever" device... but it's painfully obvious that the writers didn't even consider the time delay.

  • ahh...touche. Good point.

  • Well, you never know; it's 40ish years in the future. Communications technology could have transitioned past radio to laser technology.

  • Laser light travels at the speed of light.

  • thats like saying light travel at the speed of light. u idiot

  • I'm replying to MagMag123 you moron - he's saying that maybe communications tech could have advanced from radio to laser. Both travel at the speed of light so there's no difference. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

  • I don't think they were aiming to be scientifically accurate in the first place; they took liberties and shortcuts to make the show move faster. Can you imagine watching a 40 minute episode where it takes that long just to get a message from Earth to Antares? This show was as much about the characters as it was the journey, which made it interesting. Unfortunately, hardcore sci-fi fans threw a fuss and critics shot it down before it even got in the air...it's Firefly all over again.

  • Please don't cancel this series. I'm totally addicted to it. PLEASE DON'T CANCEL IT!!!!

  • debating whether or not to get into this show , i LOVe space... but i HATE how half of this fucking video they are nattering on about "oh hes so cute" "is she gay" "omg !!" when i heard the guy say the producers worked on Desperate Housewives I almost puked.... still... going to give this season a shot

Why must space exploration be "sexy?" fuckin wack

  • what the hell did they all see in that qudrant four? Someone told me it was a whale that could communicate with God. and they had to return it to venus. BTWY that spanish girl i forget her name has some hot ass pics on the internet. Who knew she was such a whore in real life. Now im really tuned in.

  • I've been going crazy waiting for the next episode. You can't know how depressing it was for me to look on my DVR schedule and not see it for Sunday.

My whole family watches this show. We have discussions about science and moralsI don't have to worry about covering the eyes of my youngest child.

  • 2042? wont the 2012 incident kill us all first lol

  • episode 9 was awesome !!

  • Episode 9 is amazing and brings everything together. One more episode wil be will be shown on ctv and then the remaining 3 will be shown when they find a time slot. Its a shame more viewers don't give this a second look because its a real keeper. Very mind opening.

  • hope is not lost. insider info reveals that ABC hasnt decide the fate of the series just yet. since its an early season primer (like greys midseason series debut), big milestone episodes are gonna dictate whether the series gets picked up. With episode 9 not being aired yet in the U.S. this is the episode that will determining factor for a full season pickup. (2 weeks between episodes - test of audience retention) CTV, i believe, has picked up the entire season already.

  • I see that the BBC will be picking it up, but I don't know if it's just for the one season, or if there will be more to come. Here's hoping.

  • Ron Livingston is very good in this and very sexy too. It is such a very good show .There are so many elements to it that are revealed with every episode. It is truly amazing how good it gets as the show goes on. I hope it stays on.

  • So far, the publicist of the show has said it is not cancelled and they're thinking about what they want to do with it now.

However, there is no currently available schedule that says when the final eps of season 1 will air.

  • Episode 9 is awesome and brings all the elements together. Its a shame more viewers don't give this a second look because its a real keeper. One more episode will be shown on ctv and then a slot will be found to air the rest. This is a mind opening character driven show. One of the best I've see in many many years.

  • This is a great show. I hope it stays on because its very good.

  • nasa should be helping fund this show I've never seen so much as an advertisement. it'd really help public relations with the obvious recent decline in public support for space exploration. Not to mention who wouldn't backup Ron Livingston after watching office space?

btw Mike Judge's new movie Extract is pretty awsome.

  • way to stereotype, loser

  • These people are supposed to be friggin' astronauts not passing notes to each other in Study Hall! What pisses me off is that the goddamn show looks good and they are fucking it up with this Soap Opera shit!

  • Stfu, the show is amazing. God I am sick of pessimists like you Gotham.

  • haha, you cracked me up, dude. i just saw the show with high expectation, and i, too, found the show to be like that chick show Grey's Anatomy inside a spaceship. and i don't think chicks like watching grey's anatomy in space, either, because most girls would rather go to a spa than space!

  • yeah its like lost-friends and astronauts

  • Do you hear that? What the baby crying? No, the ratings being flushed down the toilet!

  • I love the look of this show but that is about it! I would flush half the cast esp that sad sack looking shithead Ron Livingston who is about as interesting as watching flies fuck. The mysterious back story is kinda cool but sex has never really mixed well with Sci Fi. Guess it's too soon for a re-boot, lol! Is anyone on the crew of the Antares mentally stable, btw?

  • Dude, 8 people traveling around the solar system in the early days of transsolarsystem exploration in a tin can with millions of meters of electronics, hydrolics and plumbing, with a limited oxygen and food and water supply. Don't you think you'd have to be a little crazy to do that in the first place? But only the doctor and Ron's character have a mental disorder, PTS and survivor's guilt. They are doing fine at keeping drama down by keeping a good amount of mechanical malfunctions in it.

  • I really hope that if ABC makes the decision to drop this show, another network picks this up, like Syfy.

It's an amazing show, I love Ron Livingston in it!

  • This is a great scifi mystery show that is more like the show LOST and the movie 2001 a Space Odyssey. They should promote it more because I just found it a week ago, and I had to search out all the previous episodes.

  • Where did you find them?

  • This is a great show. I hope tptb have the sense to keep it on. The cast is great and the characters are well wrtten. The show should be promoted more at ABC

  • well i dont get u guys... i absolutelly L.O.V.E. this show!! it's got all the best ingredients: drama, comedy, romance, action, thriller, ... well written and great acting (something missing in lots of shows).. u should try to see it...

  • oh, and by the way, I never saw so much F#@#$@ flashbacks in a tv show. Talk about killing the rythm, the writers are olympic champions.

  • that show is not caca, it's diarrhea!!!!!!!!

If you like all my children mixed with ER and a lot of bev 90210 that 's your ticket. After 4 episodes that's it for me. In the previews and announcement a few months ago, I thought they would explore the solar system and land on planets, seing incredible lanscapes and so forth, I know the conditions on Neptune and venus and so on, no need to tell me it's impossible to go there, but it would've made a nice little sci-fi series.

  • tell them how i am deffying gravity im flying hi deffying gravity and soon ill match them in renoun and nobody in all of oz no wizard that there is or was is ever gonna bring me down! lol

  • hmm expected a little more action...might give it a go just to see if it's got potential. But if it stays boring...I'll probably give up on it, after the second or third eppy

  • I think the unevenness has settled a lot by episode 5. The character backstories are starting to deepen. Yes, it's a bit slow, but it's a lot like reading a novel.

The music they've used it terrific. The special effects are pretty good. It's not an action show, it's more of a character show.

I like this show and really hope the rumors of poor ratings aren't true. Seems every time I start to like a show it gets canceled.

  • From the creators of Desparate Housewives and Gray's Anatomy??? It's gonna be a sci-fi drama.... yey... :(

  • This is potentially a great show I hope they keep it.

  • your right this looks like right wing crap its so wet, just what we need more dull middle of the road sci fi

  • This sucks. For one thing, it has too much of a 20th century uptight right wing American sensibility. They censor the word "porn" from a television broadcast. Abortion is apparently illegal. Suck my dick!

  • don't know why, but i sense that hal-1000 is back

  • this shit looks too gay! sorry too much drama for me

  • . Build character depth beyond sex. Have villains that are interesting, threatening, and complex. Have a clear objective, as in save the colonies by finding Earth. Defying Gravity has a good cast, good premise. It moves too slow and doesn't provide its characters much depth. Or rather, uneven depth.

  • This was a really great interview. Thanks for posting this. I also saw the series premiere and I thought it was great. I really liked and enjoyed it. I think that this will be another great series and I hope that it doesn't get cancelled.

  • sounds good. Interestant show. Gonna watch.

  • I love the timing of this show since it has been announced that they are trying to convince NASA to pass a 3 man mission to mars which they will be there for about 2 years seaching for microscopic fossles which carve out life. The show itself is a sick idea but the romance a flashback are going to be a big drawback

  • does anyone know the music from these episodes?

  • i saw the premier, and it has possiablities, but it needs work, i will wait to see more before i make my final decision but it seems a little too much like lost only in space, too many commercials, too many flash backs, i'll keep watching, but i am on the fence for now.

  • I never was a fan of Sci-Fi shows but I watched this last night and thought it was great. It may even be for the simple fact that I don't watch Sci-Fi often. Or that I'm a big Ron Livingston fan after watcing Band of Brothers a million times.

  • This show looks pretty good! I missed the series premiere Sunday, so I'll have to catch it online. Finally another hard scifi on network television!

  • A crew of undisciplined hormonals on extra doses of vitamin E and viagra, sent on a trip around the solar system by Big Brother until they learn each-other's backgrounds and Kill Bill. Ugh!

It's only the mystery of "Beta" that keeps this watchable. And the lack of sci-fis until Stargate: Universe comes.

  • THIS SHOW FUCKING SUCKS!

  • woow...and it is so exciting...i cant believe it , OMG , America has made one more idiotic ,stupid ,moronic tv show . Perfect ! Make the nation even more dumb !

  • WTF is your problem ?

  • Wow! I just finished watching the previews. Awesome. I am so going to like this show. If the writers can keep the balance of human frailties and needs and science, we will have a winner. Too much science would make it dry. Too much sex will just degrade it. But so far....we are balanced. I just wish they could be a little more forthcoming about who or what 'it' is. Beta? The folks on the ground sound nervous. Looking forward...

  • I am actually liking it!

  • I think the show is going to be great. As to religion and sex in space....it is part of our lives...some of us anyway. It would be hard to return to Earth knowing you might not ever get back into space. Donner used the fella's own sense of right to save him. And while it would be frowned on as sexual harassment or unethical behavior on most jobs, it is 40+ yrs in the future. Sexual mores and laws may be different. I don't want a steady dose of it, but it does bring the story together. JMO. ++5

  • The show would have been great if they left out the religious stuff - I say no thank you to the Hindu teachings and we don't need that taught to us while watching a cool idea for a show.

  • There are more than hindu teachings on the show. Paula is catholic. I think the doctor is jewish. There is enough non-religion on the ship to even things out.

  • Sex in Space, if I want a soap opera I would watch Days of our lives. Why can't they make a straight action Sci-Fi without the contraversial bull crap.

  • give it a chance, theres alot of secret stuff that will happen in the later episodes,

they think they are on a mission that they where trained for, but what they will find out later is that they where sent for something totally different. apparently its something big cause you here the flight director and another woman on the ground say they wouldnt of went if they knew what they where going for

  • mejw1 spoiler alert! don't read if you don't want a spoiler. The reason that there is no gap in the transmissions no matter how far they get from Earth is that they never left. The computer has taken over the mission, and staffed it with some who should have been 'washed out' of the program. Some of the crises and problems are actually virtual reality which is seen by the crew which are in stasis. It is a head game, it also reveals who really messed up the previous Mars journey.

  • are you shitting me? how do you know that? good twist tho lol

  • I totally agree with you - they don't call us nerds for nothing!

  • seems cool, but if its young and wrestless in space it will be gay

  • its not going to be.

there is a hidden mission that even the crew dosent know yet

the story line says they will find out in the later episodes and its sounds big

  • this looks so good, I'm pretty pumped for the debut tomorrow. the cast is incredibly solid all the way through

  • this sounds so lame..

  • Love shows with a continuing storyline!

  • Big Brother in space?

  • gay
