Jane missed out; she didn't want to give up on her acting career while she was romantically involved with Paul. She was often on the road performing plays and poor Paulie would cheat on her when she was away. Can't be mad at her; but whatever happened to "Lady Jane"? I'm glad he found Linda & went on to have 3 children with her, one of them being his son James. It was meant to be.

I think Paul being with Jane was almost a celebrity type thing, because she was a British actress. Lady Linda however was his match, perfect in everyway for him!!! I know alot of fans hated her for what reason I have no idea, but I love Linda. She reminds me so much of my first wife who died of cancer at 35. Not as attractive as my new one, but so much a better person, who loved me unconditionally as Linda loved Paul. And haters....Wings would not sound the same without her! RIP Linda McCartney.

Plus Jane was quite independent, whereas Linda was the archetypal submissive, passive baby machine. The song "Julia" contained the words "ocean child (that is what the name "Yoko" means) but the song was about his mother. There was "Woman" but that song sucked. I can't think of any good songs he did that were inspired by Yoko.

Why do we even bother with things like this? Paul and Jane only dated from 1963 through late 1967. That's four years. Paul and Linda were together from 1968 til her tragic death in 1998. That is a very, very long time. Because yes, Paul loved Jane, but Paul's real soulmate was Linda McCartney. Linda and Paul completed each other and loved each other in a way beyond words.

Jane and Linda are both very lovely and beautiful women. There's no need to compare.
