Pure cars that command respect to drive fast are the most exciting, the ones that actually require skill or else they'll send you into the wall. Until Guiness World Records verifies this, the car has no official top speed. I do believe the Agera R will eventually possess the Top Speed Record, but it doesn't at this moment.

The thing is that this is 1200hp that is as controllable as the 95 hp in a Skoda Octovia while the roughly 2400 hp in one of those muscle cars you mentioned would send you careening sideways into the nearest tree if you as much as looked at the accelerator.

That's the biggest success of the Bugatti. It immensely powerful, superbly luxurious, extremely safe and it frankly doesn't look as shouty as cars like the Camaro (what would you prefer? A dinner-jacket or a tracksuit?).

Nothing shouts "I have more money than car knowledge" like a million dollar hypercar. These 2,500 hp muscle cars, however, are totally modernized, IRS, beautiful custom interiors, fully streetable with amazing electronics, boost control at the touch of a button, dual injection per cylinder (yes, secondary throttle bodies per cylinder) and too much more to list....

That's the tricky business of defining the word shouty.

I see shouty as cars like muscle cars and TVR's (generally cars that have an overabundance of intakes, odd angles), a design to make most people turn 7 years old. Yes the Bugatti costs a lot of money but that isn't what I see when I see it. I see the height of engineering. I see how every little curve, every fin, every spoke helping the car stay controllable at 431 km/h. And I wonder, how did they do this?

@MrFalconfly What people saw in muscle cars from the 50's 60's and 70's was the height of engineering too, oddly enough. I didn't know this but in the 70's (especially on the challenger/cuda) they were changing the body lines etc. and testing different styles for aerodynamics...in '72 and '73 they really made some big leaps that I don't think people really understood back then. The cool thing now is all the new tech and modern engine designs that can be used in older cars, it's amazing stuff!

I don't know why people knock the Bugatti Veyron. The Bugatti people have over come so many engineering obstacles to produce a wonderful piece of engineering. I must admit I wasn't impressed with the style of the car at first but it has grown on me, as I have seen the work that goes into producing the car.I won't carry on with copious amounts of superlatives but I will say good on the Germans for beating the yanks.

Guys i dont think bugatti super sport is strong enough according to its engine w16 and 8 liter +4 turbo charges= 1200hp and a top speed of 434km/h Because Koenigsegg agera R has 5 liter v8 twin turbo and produce 1150hp and a top speed of 440km/h

A 8.3l V10 only produces 510 bhp while a 5.2l V10 (in a Lamborghini Gallardo) produces 570 bhp.

The funniest thing, same engine V10 in Viper is used in heavy trucks, but Lamborghini helped construct an all aluminum alloy engine for Viper because iron block weights almost 750Ibs. Viper engine is really powerful producing 600+hp today, but it's useless behind other engines. AMG have 570hp 6.2 V8, Lambo have like you said 5.2 560-570.

Reliability is key. A 1150hp (using ethanol fuel) v8 engine has more stress than a 1200hp W16 engine because the combustion is not smooth enough and the pistons have to work harder. FYI, Veyron test driver stated the SS was still accelerating when it reached 434 km/h but had to brake because he already reached the end of road. At that speed, tarmac and tires are also an issue meaning the limit. Agera R has not been tested for top speed yet.

Actually SSC attempted to get Guinness Record on 12 miles long straight road in Nevanda. That means "not enough road straight" is a lame excuse. UA maxed out at 230 mph with regular fuel. That 257 mph was done using octane 104) nearly without interior meaning the car was unsafe at high speed with no traction control, no ABS nor power steering.
