  • spoiler she is dead XD

  • @LycheeChannels SPOILER

    No she's not.

  • atelier

1840, from Fr., from O.Fr. astelier "(carpenter's) workshop, woodpile," from astele "piece of wood, a shaving, splinter," probably from L.L. hastella "a thin stick," dim. of hasta "spear, shaft."

  • @LycheeChannels Suck my dick.

  • @mrtrollhaha no

  • I didn't even want Spaghetti.

  • @Riot1TV I don't get it.

  • Plus i lost interest when i needed to get over a 1000 points to get the last rank yeah 5 there 5 points here the ocasional 30, plus everytime you fight or gather from a spot it takes time away, not to mention now you have to havec pies for the hims to work, itd hard to make the pies yourself or if u bie just plain 700 per 10, i just finished the game and i failed the first time on rorona too but at least i had alot of money due to all the shops being in one town

  • I liked atelier rorona alot better, i can't stand how long it takes to go back and forth between arland and the village, and doing the guild quest are frustraiting as well

  • @adacatrw Are you playing the game right? You can either pay Peter to get you there quicker or you can use the Warp Gate, which has no cost.

  • I'm glad I turned the voices to Japanese before i started the game.

    They sound like ponies --'

  • thinking on buying this game but i have 2 questions before i do my order. Does the game has Dual voice option japanese+english? and second, I never played Atelier rorona or other ateliers game is a new history or i need to play the others first?

  • Why god why, why they can't stop the dub, keep the fkng japanes languaje and just put subtitles

  • @sagadeath u can change language on the option menu

  • Spaghetti is all over my ceiling right now.

  • As soon as I heard the english voices I became sick. They should stop ruining Japanese games through horrible dubbing.

  • I want this game

  • after playing some of this game, i fell in love with totori...

  • Is dat some Dan Green I hear?

  • ATELIER TOTORI PLEASE MONEY ATELIER GAMESTOP TOTORI

  • I think the only ENG dubbed voice I enjoy was Melvia. There's a certain fondness with Totori's and Rorona's voice in JP. And there's this overbearing cuteness thats so lovable when they make those JP sounds like "EehHhHhHhHh?!" ... ^^ Rorona's JP voice in this game is godly ... they gave her amazing dialogue to convey her naiveness and ditzyness lol ... <33

  • @MikeChua english voices are better then jp but no voices in this game is the best way to play it cuz english and jp voices 100% suck

  • sounds stupid in english haha

  • Finally got it and it is just as awesome as I thought it would be :D

  • lol english sound fail..why you guys you put you're power in that just put eng subb and i will be happy

anime should always be japanese because the charactere are japanese and the maker studio is japanese

  • @NarutoRocks2011 Don't worry This game DO HAVE JAPANESE VOICE just change it in option menu, ALMOST EVERY single NISA PS3/console game have Dual Voice option.

  • @ZekittyFilmz anyday now 27th i thought

  • Cant wait to get my copy!!

  • it not comeing today it comes out oct 15 2011

  • seems like a shoujo manga made into a game. lol.

they could at least put a bit more effort into the trailer to make it more appealing.

  • I love how people consider this game girly, and yet according to the video statistics, most of us watching this video are males than females. XD

  • @FREAKFANATIC They don't consider this girly. Just more Weaboo bullshit pulled of by the Japs and their Animé community.

  • @MrPrototypz why do you watch japanese anime you weaboo

its not made for you..get the fuck out

  • @NarutoRocks2011 Kids these days.

  • lets see next weeks releases hmmmmm i see rune factory and this...... hmm i choose neither XD

  • Funny to see all the hate on this game. I play everything from Dead Space to Atelier Rorona :)

  • Sweet, Squall made it into the game! WOWWWWW. Way to go Sterkenburg Cranach!

  • sterk became badass

  • @TheWhiteGlint101 Sterk was ALREADY badass!! :)

  • Me gusta!!! (:

  • i wanner be an anime wen ime grow up

  • ah, this game will be so fun

  • you guys are dumb, this game looks fantastic! i cant waitttt

  • Now this is a MAN's game!!!

  • I absolutely adore Atelier Rorona and Totori is looking to be 10* better. Have this preordered months ago, can't wait ;)

  • I went to NIS America's website and found out that their premium edition has a 18x24 in double sided poster of Totori.

  • all the atelier games have girl MC nowadays :O)..looks interesting tho

  • PreOrdering!!!!!

  • So out of curiosity do I get to switch to Japanese audio?

  • @AnimeXGirlsX

yeah, you should be able to

  • @AnimeXGirlsX If it's like every other game distributed by NIS America, then yes.

  • You know, speaking as someone who first started hearing dubs in the..um...interesting video game dubs of the late 90's and early 2000's (go look up shadow hearts shloop shloop I dare you), and went with Japanese audio whenever possible, I actually likedthe dub for Atelier Rorona, very much. When I heard Rorona's voice in this trailer, I was excited, thinking, "ooh, she's back!"

    /and that's my two pennies

  • So excited for this game. Looks gorgeous and fun!

  • Is this game gonna be like Altier Rorona with just one town to explore or will it have more towns this time?

  • @FREAKFANATIC

I heard there will be a additional town. You be able to travel between Alanya(probably starting point of the game since Totori live in that town) and Arland. Not sure if there are any more towns though.

  • xD Just a shame most games never opt for Jap voices with eng sub

  • good game im getting it :3

  • another ps3 exclusive??

  • @chaturga13 yes.

  • I'm going to need both hands for this.

  • so playing this with japanese voice :p

  • I really like the spread of game clips from 1:34-1:50. It's pretty and relaxing. I've never seen anything quite like it.

  • Nothing wrong with "saving the world" time after... time after... time... O_o... but, BUT! If you're tired o the same ol' schtick, then try these games out. Bought Rorona and although rather simplistic, I must say I still had a blast with that game. Can't wait for the release of Totori, LE of course :D

  • This looks like a beautiful game. I don't buy games at full price often, but the Premium Edition is calling for me. After finishing Ar Tonelico Qoga yesterday, it's clear to me that NIS America is the best in the business when it comes to localizations.

  • @Errrrbo

I wanna say no to disagree with you, but I can't disagree with you on this opinion because IT IS TRUTH.

  • win will this game come to gamestop?

  • Err....it was a nice thought to include English voices I guess. Will definitely not play it in English though. In any case, I'm very excited for this game!

  • the only english dub i like was resonance of fate xD

i'm gonna switch the japanese voice for this one :3 , it's a great game but i still prefer the original japanese seiyuus x3

    still , i <3 this game :D

  • i read the whole 10 pages of comments between Generic, Shinryu and Skellion. I thought it was funny.

  • WTF happened to Rorona's voice!? It hurts my ears!!

  • i getting a new ps3 when this game come out in us

  • As a girl I'm really looking forward to this game. I like the Aterlier's game mechanics and I love that they have made the sprites more mature compared to Rorona.

  • why is it the NIS online store has this game available for purchase saying it came out in september 2010?

  • Comment removed

  • The game is over all a total improvement of Atelier Rorona. But what's with the voice? the English voices sounds too old for some teenager characters.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Because an RPG about a little girl trying to find her mother is totally generic, right?

    ...Right?

  • @SkellionPowalskiz I don't know of any games with that plotline. Also, just because you don't like it, doesn't mean he has a shitty taste. Quit being ignorant.

  • @Shinryu7x Sorry, but the "just my opinion" logic doesn't work, it's never a good argument. The game has shallow art direction, and it shows more cutscenes and concept art than any gameplay, so I can't even tell what type of game it's supposed to be. Any game that spends more time showing off it's anime usually is just trying to hide the fact that it's a shallow, boring game.

But I'm arguing with an anime fanboy, so of course I'm not going to get anywhere.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz It shows gameplay near the end of the video. It shows battles and whatnot. Besides, you have a computer, if you wanted to see what the game is then just search it on YouTube. Not that hard.

Since you're assuming stupid shit like that, I'm going to assume that you're a furry who does nothing but talk shit on YouTube.

And that wasn't the "JUST MY OPINION" thing. I was just saying, it's very stupid of you to judge his taste of games just because you don't like one of them.

  • @Shinryu7x That's not even me as my avatar, just so you know. I may enjoy yiff, but fursuiting is just plain weird. And I don't think I've ever seen a fursuiter use a child's Tigger costume before, while wearing Spiderman briefs.

And I don't talk shit, I express my opinion, you're talking shit to me since you can't handle other people getting sick of the same stupid shit out of Japan.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Ha, now you're arguing with everyone.

That, and you are talking shit. I didn't mean your opinion on the game, I meant how you were calling me an anime fanboy.

  • @Shinryu7x I don't think I ever did. Even then, I might have to explain to you what a fanboy is in my opinion. It's someone that, regardless of quality, will buy anything with a certain style. Games like this have a fanbase that is simply comprised of fanboys, mainly because to any other video game fan, it's extremely boring or shallow, while it's fanbase will deny anything negative and fight to the death to protect it.

As it stands, that's all I'm seeing here. And I saw you're channel.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz You're saying that I'm a fanboy, who will buy anything anime?

  • @Shinryu7x Pretty much. When your channel has so much of Atelier that you can't even see most of the actual text, then it shows that "Hey, this guy likes Atelier, and only Atelier!"

No game can possibly deserve that much devotion, either you're new to video games, which is reasonable, or you just can't stand to play anything else, which is not reasonable. And Youtube isn't just about video games. Limiting yourself is only that, limiting yourself. Try to branch out, it's pretty fun.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Dude, I have 682 videos on my favorites list. You mean to tell me, you only saw Atelier videos. That makes NO sense what so ever. That means you looked pass the Call Of Duty, comedy shows, Music, fail videos, and many other video games I enjoy (Golden Fantasia, Shin Megami Tensei, Call Of Duty, Luminous Arc, Soul Calibur, Gods Eater, and Mortal Kombat.) There you go again, making false assumptions.

  • @Shinryu7x I'm going to guess that Golden Fantasia and Luminous Arc are also RPGs, having never heard of them, so that makes only three of those seven games different. Four RPGs, two fighters, and one shooter., and you can honestly say that isn't biased in the least?

And your favorites being different than just anime doesn't matter. I favorite videos of falling out of trees and hurting themselves skating, that has nothing do with my taste in video games.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz False assumptions again, you crack me up, man.

Golden Fantasia is a fighting game.

And those aren't the only games I play. I was just naming some that had nothing to do with Atelier.

Oh yeah, and that had nothing to do with my taste in video games, you were saying that I should "branch out because youtube isn't for only video games.", so I was just naming the videos that had nothing to do with games.

  • @Shinryu7x Well, you're channel background is still hilarious to me, so I'm just going to laugh and all that, because that makes me look cool, even though you sit here and act like playing extremely boring, obscure Japanese games that no one else cares about, you must be cooler than me, since you go against the current and whatnot.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz When did I say I go against the current? Now you're running out of things to type, so you think you can just make things up and use insults now. Makes you look really stupid. BTW, Call of Duty is such an underground game. No one knows about it, I'm the only player online. Same with Mortal Kombat and Shin Megami Tensei. They're so obscure!

And if you couldn't tell, that was sarcasm.

  • @Shinryu7x I am running out of stuff to say, since it's so hot in here and you are just goddamn intent on protecting a game that really isn't worth the praise it gets, which is not saying much to begin with. I'm just going to say this. I don't understand why playing a series that is so similar to so many other series is exciting. You cannot deny that there are a ton of JRPGs that share quite a few similarities, and you can't say that's boring even by a small margin? That's pretty weak.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Lol, I was never defending this game. You called me a fanboy, who likes nothing else but play Atelier and buy anything anime, and you assumed lots of other false stuff.

  • @Shinryu7x Well, when you bust in trying to make me look bad and insult me numerous times, I just assumed that you were a hardcore fan of the series, because it doesn't make sense any other way. If you weren't trying so hard to protect the game, I wouldn't have figured that you were a serious fan, but you did, so I did. If you weren't being so extreme I wouldn't have labeled you as such. It's entirely your fault for presenting yourself so badly. If you're not a fanboy, don't act like it.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz I never tried to insult you, really. You were the one insulting me.

I never protected the game, I just didn't like how you called someones whole taste in games shitty, just because of one game you disliked. That was really stupid of you. I am a big fan of the series, but I never defended the game. I never even acted like a fanboy.

  • @Shinryu7x You wouldn't have responded if you didn't feel threatened in some way, you apparently aligned yourself with said "fanboys" since you saw me insult them, not you. I never did insult you directly until just recently, I guess, since you basically called yourself a fanboy.

If you're not one, then just accept that this game truly does depend on it's visual style to sell itself, and it's focus is on a Japanese audience, because really, that's all I was trying to say.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz I didn't feel threatened.

I never called myself a fanboy. When did I do that? Now you're just pulling stuff out of your ass. Besides, I responded because you were acting like a person who knows nothing about the game, yet wants to insult it.

The game is not, that is just your opinion on the game. You apparently need to learn the difference between fact and opinion.

  • I began with a single comment, stating that this game looks derivative and boring, and then the two of you jumped down my throat with insults and general hostility. At this point, I don't even care, fine I guess it's just me, the game is fucking amazing and it deserves all the praise in the world, if it makes you well any better, whatever it is I say, even if it actually is based on fact, I'm wrong, simply because I don't like the same game as you.

Go on with your life knowing you won. Grats.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Dude, for the last time, I NEVER really insulted you. If you don't want arguments, then don't leave a comment. It's going to happen, whether you like it or not. It's your opinion, but you act like it's a god damn fact. You were the one insulting me, assuming all this dumb shit that made no sense.

  • @Shinryu7x I don't think I should have to, I have just as much right to voice my opinion as you do to argue whether or not it's justified. I don't like the game, and you decided to jump in randomly and try to make it seem like I was wrong for finding blindingly obvious negative qualities of the game, aka why I didn't like the game. And then you walk in and say I'm wrong? That doesn't make sense. My opinions are based on my observations, and just for you, I actually read about the game as well.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz I didn't say you were not allowed to voice your opinion. I said If you don't like arguments, then don't comment. Maybe I did come in randomly, but I never said your opinions are wrong.

But when you start thinking that their facts, not opinions, that's where it becomes wrong.

  • @Shinryu7x Did I ever? You keep trying to get the last word, but you're totally wrong. My opinion was based on my observations, observations are facts. If I see anime, it's anime, if there's alchemy, there's alchemy, if there's RPG combat, there's RPG combat. It's not that these things aren't there, because they are. It's that it's been done before and I think that's extremely lazy and boring. You're trying to say that those observations are wrong, when they simply cannot be. I don't like it.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz That seems to be what you're doing since you never seem to end.

Not saying those observations are wrong, just saying a lot of the shit you said was wrong.

And not all observations are facts. Like earlier you observed my channel and said "YOU ONLY FAVORITE VIDEO GAMES." That was definitely false.

  • @Shinryu7x I keep coming back because you have such terrible responses. I never said that, and you're merely saying that to make me look bad, yet again. If that's all you can do, at least admit it, you haven't done anything but try to antagonize me, unlike Generic, and while he was being an ass for a second, he at least tried to bring up some points on the game's behalf, all you've done is shout about how wrong I am, but never bring anything to back yourself up.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz I'm not antagonizing anyone. You're making yourself look bad, really. And terrible responses? Me? Are you serious? You kept on trying to make up random shit about me and when you ran out of things to type you started pulling shit out of your ass. And I am backing myself up, we are not even talking about the game. You were talking about how I am a fanboy who defends this game to the death (which I wasn't doing in the first place.) and I buy everything anime.

  • @Shinryu7x Funny thing about that, last time I checked, I have both of the top rated comments on this video. I must be doing something right then.

At this point, I'm not talking about how you're a fanboy, although you're still making it very hard not to call you one. This game has two things, anime and RPG gameplay. That's it, and what I'm hearing from Generic was that the game was addicting. Addicting =/= compelling, innovative, original, or anything else, just that you happen to get hooked.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Never said that? Are you reading your comments? Remember when you said "Youtube isn't only for video games, try branching out, it's fun."

Yeah, that should bring back some memories.

  • @Shinryu7x I did say that, and I honestly regret it, because it's totally missing the point of what I was trying to say. Call it an asspull if it makes you feel better, but I was more referring to the fact that you're using that ridiculous background image, AND an avatar using a character from the same game. Talk about originality, you, sir, are king.

If you didn't pick up on it yet, I honestly don't care what you say, though I can say talking with Generic was at least productive.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Lol, if you didn't care what I say you wouldn't be responding. So you obviously do care.

What's so ridiculous about the image? The only thing ridiculous and disturbing is your avatar.

  • @Shinryu7x Somehow I knew you'd say that, and I have a reason for it. The reason I keep responding is because when I meet people on the internet, I tend to try and end things with a simple "bye" or whatever, stuff you usually do when you end a conversation. When you keep coming back trying to take stabs at me again, it means this isn't over yet. I'd love it if you would just agree to end this.

And really, I used that picture because I thought it was funny, and I had no other pictures to use.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz You were the one who kept coming back and taking stabs. It should have ended when I sent you my 6th reply. But then you came out of nowhere and said that I go against the current (Like I ever even said that.)

Anyways if you want it to end so badly, just don't reply to me, and I wouldn't have a reason to respond.

  • @Shinryu7x Sorry buddy, but it doesn't work that way. If you really want it to end, make your next post have only a maximum of three words. Then we'll talk, because at this point, you're just being petty, your post is completely wrong. I may have been deliberately insulting YOU at some points, I was actually having a discussion with Generic, I never took you seriously. Sorry, but it's true, I'm only replying to be polite.

And since you don't have the spheres.

    Good night..

  • @SkellionPowalskiz It does work that way. I never said I wanted it to end, but you sure did. If you reply to me, I will reply back. What, you think you can just say dumb things and get away with it? No, just no.

My post isn't wrong, it really should have ended there. But you just wanted it to continue, so you decided to type false crap.

How is that being polite? I don't give a rat's ass if you reply or not.

  • @Shinryu7x Say goodbye. You know you want to.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz What's this now?

  • @Shinryu7x Your life will be complete.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Whatever.

  • @Shinryu7x :3

  • @Shinryu7x I thought you didn't want it to end? I just ate some cookies, I feel pretty good, what about you?

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Ahhhh, so that's what this is about.

Don't remember saying I wanted this to continue either.

And if you wanted to ask a question like that, you should not have posted it on this video.

Because there is something on youtube where you can send private messages. You should try it.

  • @Shinryu7x

He might of only seen your background picture he got on your channel. I went to your channel and really only saw like 5 videos of Atelier Totori on there. (BTW Nice Background picture XD )

  • @Peter47890 Haha, thanks!

  • @Shinryu7x You a bit full of yourself. What did I just do that could possible have been good for you?

  • @SkellionPowalskiz "You a bit full of yourself. What did I just do that could possible have been good for you?"

Where did that come from and what the hell do you mean by that?

  • @Shinryu7x I misread that, ignore it. :P

  • @SkellionPowalskiz

well can't really say anything about the negative points of the game since its hasn't come out to North America yet. But honestly, I can tell how you would think this is like any jrpg. I mean, when I first picked up Atelier Rorona, I didn't really think much of it. It just grabbed my attention, and I like playing jrpg. So I picked it up.But when I played it,(from my personal experience) it wasn't your typical jrpg. gameplay and storywise. (continue to part 2)

  • @SkellionPowalskiz

Not sure about the showing more cutscenes and concept art than gameplay part. Because in Atelier Rorona, I think I spend a lot more time trying to gather ingredients and synthesizing then cutscenes themselves. And in this game, heard that they're going to try to put a focus on adventuring this time around. Anyway, can't really say this "particular" game going to show more cutscenes than game play since it hasn't even come out yet.(unless you hae the jp version)

  • @Peter47890 The reason I don't like games like this is because it's marketed to a single audience, Japanese people, or otherwise people that surround themselves in popular Japanese culture. Now, I'm not saying all of Japanese culture is about generic anime and H, but that's what a majority of it's modern culture is, and it's annoying, especially when they started with such great stuff back in the day. Now they depend on fanservice and J-pop to get by with most JRPGs.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Oh, and also, if you even knew about the Atelier games, you seriously wouldn't say they're about "fanservice". They're Japanese-y? Of course they are. They're shallow shit, however? If you really think so, it just shows you've got little, if no actual argument outside your own insecurities and/or trivial, inane doubts.

Jesus christ, if you're going to argue, at least either watch the trailer or do some research; you're just making a fool out of yourself here.

  • @GenericName55 Hilarious you're even trying to call me insecure, when you're talking to a kid that used to watch Sailor Moon and Powerpuff Girls.

I watched the trailer, too bad there's pretty much nothing to do with a game there, it's just shots of girls in short skirts or lame RPG archetypes like wizards or alchemists, along with two prettyboy warriors.

You're just butthurt that someone sees past the gloss and can tell that this game really isn't all that good.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Didn't we all watch those shows, honestly?

Besides, wizards? Seriously? The hell did the wizard come from?

And, by last; dude, you're talking about a game's overall quality by...what, a trailer? Not even knowing how the game itself works?

It's okay if you don't like little girls in miniskirts, many people don't- but thing is, you're talking about a VIDEOGAME here, one you seem to know very little about. You don't even have a solid argument, for crying out loud.

  • @GenericName55 It's the principle of the thing, if all they want you to see is the anime to get you hooked, chances are they spent more time on the visuals, not even the ingame visuals, than they did on the actual game itself, and those little clips you see at the end are merely closeups of the characters in game, but you don't see anything but the characters and a few flashy effects.

Sorry, but if you want me to care about a game, you need to show a little more than shots of anime girls.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz I'm not one to draw strawmen, but...Yeah, betcha they need an elaborate CGI trailer that seriously shows NO gameplay at all! Oh, but wait, they need brown everywhere and guns to draw your attention! Totally cool, man!

...Fallacies aside, there are -four- gameplay videos of the JP version of the game right beside this trailer, in the Suggestion section. Seriously, your comments are more filled with holes than actual arguments.

  • @GenericName55 That IS an impressive straw man you have there, because it has absolutely no relevance to me or anything else right here, I'm basing my argument off of shit I've been seeing since early 2000, which, if you paid attention, is around a whole decade.

The reason I'm not going any further into this game is because I know exactly what I'm going to get, another Japanese RPG that wants the same amount of fame that the Tales of series got, even though those games are equally terrible.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Again, you're drawing baseless assumptions. Do you know anything, ANYTHING about the Atelier series in the first place? "Oh, I've known about these games that have come out which aren't even made by the same developer durrr!" is basically what you're stating right now.

  • @GenericName55 You keep saying "durrr", it sure is working in making you look like a purely rational and intelligent person. You keep pulling quotes out of your ass to make me look bad, but as it stands, nobody has said anything even remotely similar to that other than yourself, so really, you're the only one here saying such stupid things, not me.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Oh, and also, to showcase rationality or intelligence isn't the point of my comments. Just so you'll know.

  • @GenericName55 I can tell.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Indeed.

  • @GenericName55 Just some advice though, just because you can admit to being wrong, doesn't magically make you less wrong. You were being a total ass, you being sorry for it now doesn't make you any less of an ass. The only thing that's changed is that you feel sorry for your own actions, that doesn't mean your actions have changed.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz You say the art direction is shallow, yet you've probably looked at little, if nothing, of the game's art. It's actually some of the best stuff out there; character design can be appealing at many times, and a Victorian setting just makes things better.

Your only argument is that this is "anime-style" and "cheap", yet you've probably looked at little, if no art of it. You just showcase a level of ignorance so strong, it's like you're really from GameFAQs.

  • @GenericName55 I don't need to look any further, if you've seen a "Victorian-era" anime girl, you've seen them all, they're all over the internet. Even more than that, if you've seen one JRPG, you've pretty much seen them all. They never really try to look different, simply because they know their target audience, people that cling to any scrap of cheap anime they can find. Sure, it's good if that's all you know, but it's pretty pathetic when people like that refuse to branch out.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Also; again, you're both drawing assumptions and plain denseness to back up your argument: Mel Kishida's artwork is widely recognized as some of the better stuff out there, and the Atelier games are known for derivating from the standard JRPG formula and, instead, delivering something else: The life of an NPC that's small in a big scheme of things, and that really doesn't do much aside taking care of her own issues.

  • @GenericName55 It doesn't matter what the story is, most people that want story first and foremost and nothing else that's worth a damn usually go for television or written literature, not video games. Anyway, video games aren't exactly legendary for having memorable plots, even less, original ones. I'll admit that the games centering around a relatively unimportant character is good for a change, but that doesn't excuse the generic art style and in game graphics. You can't excel in one area.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Honestly, the artstyle is far from generic for many, and the graphics are colorful and upbeat- in this generation, that's a nice change of pace, in my opinion. Stories aside, the games don't even base themselves in typical gameplay mechanics; the Atelier series as a whole, for example, is known for focusing in...crafting. Yes, crafting, first and foremost. You know, synthesis, alchemy, all that? Yeah. No exploration, saving the world, nor any of that.

  • @GenericName55 Sounds pretty boring to me, most games wouldn't be proud about featuring, much less expanding solely on one gameplay mechanic. If that's what it takes to innovate, then GUST has it wrong. Sometimes simple is better, but other times simple is lazy, not to mention boring. And you just keep saying that his/her art style is original, I really am not convinced.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz

I wouldn't say that Crafting is all what the Atelier series offers.(just played Atelier Rorona though so not sure)There are exploration and battle in the game(from gathering ingredients to defeating monsters for quests, etc.). What I think Genericname55 is trying to say is that the Atelier series first main focus in creating the game is the synthesis system. then expands on to other feature of the game. Also heard that Totori is expanding on adventuring this time around.

  • @Peter47890 Only problem I have is that instead of gouging fans for three different games that focus on one style of gameplay, then have mediocre focus on others, why not just make one huge game with all styles of gameplay that would be included anyway, and implement them fully, rather than just give us one game in three separate packages?

If one game is about exploration, one is about platforming, and the other is about crafting, and they're all RPGs, why not just mix them? Save some time.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz About the gameplay; they simply felt like expanding on what was wrong with the predecessor of this game, which many felt was the rather weak combat and/or exploration, alongside suffocating time limits.

The idea is, also, to set different tones for each game so they won't all end up the same. I think; I don't know what's in the developer's minds.

  • @GenericName55 When even fans of the game don't know what the developers are doing with a series, that's usually a bad thing. It's okay to have one developer making many games with different styles, but it doesn't make sense to make a series of game that should be connected, but with pretty much nothing in common. If they want to make a deep, compelling, difficult, challenging, and innovative RPG, then painting it with anime and having really shallow gameplay isn't the way to go.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Who said they wanted to make a deep, challenging, innovative RPG? Honestly, in my opinion, a game done with charm, that's fun, is more than enough.

And I may not know what they want to do next, but that's part of the fun. The sequel to this game, that came out in Japan a few weeks back, for example, is about being a princess and doing princess-y stuff like having daddy issues and developing your country with some micro-management. I couldn't have guessed that even if I tried.

  • @GenericName55 That isn't a good thing either. If you want to make a game that does something different than the other games you've made, the best idea is to make it a game with a style that at least tries to look different than other established games, and then give it a different name. The point of having a series is that they all have something in common, something that only that game can provide, and yet they all look the same and yet play almost radically differently.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz And that's exactly what they do; they all feature the common focus, overriding mechanic of synthesis. They're all about a young, female alchemist, first and foremost.

They just introduce different mechanics for each game in the series, I assume to spice things up.

  • @GenericName55 That's a telltale sign that the developers have no real imagination, a good game doesn't need to constantly mix things up to keep people interested, it's tries something new, and then expands on it throughout the series. Once people are hooked, they usually want more of the same, rather than anxiously wonder what type of game the next will be, unpredictability only works so well. Ever play a game that never got any sequels that you wish lived longer? I have.

  • @SkellionPowalskiz Doesn't that cause stagnation, however?

    It's counter-productive at a long run.
