I had nightmares for two fucking weeks of zombified horses chasing after me in my dreams and I eventually refused to sleep at night. Was it the game that scared me? No, like I said I was having anxiety attacks and pretty much anything could set off paranoia, but the dreams I had were mostly of those undead ponies chasing me...

ahh Story of the Blanks. my first foray into the dark side of MLP: FIM. since then, i've seen the Luna Games and Dreamy Rainbows, so Story of the Blanks isn't really that scary to me anymore. however, i think it had the best story. i respect it for that. i wish they made more, and continued the tale.

@eurodraco So... from what I understand, the ponies in Sunny Town had never seen a cutie mark before. So, when Ruby got one, they feared it and killed her. Because this was an unnatural event (and because the powers of friendship that the cutie mark contained were pure), the ponies in Sunny Town were cursed. Interestingly enough, only one of them truly realizes why they were cursed, while the rest believed that it was because of the cutie mark itself that the town had been cursed. Creepy. -_-;

At the end, Pinkie catches another pony (forgot who other then it being a filly in Apple Bloom's class) and just as she's getting ready to start, Apple Bloom comes in saying that Pinkie promised her the next one or something. Apple Bloom then closes the story out with something along the lines of "guess who's going to be a blank flank" to the unfortunate victim.

IMO, Cupcakes wasn't so much scary as senselessly gory. Main reason it sticks out is the detail put in describing the gore. I'd have to give it to Story of the Blanks for a genuine scare and not just making me slightly queasy..

I've now read Cupcakes (god damn it...) and I have to agree with you.

Cupcakes was certainly grimdark, but it was more disturbing and gory than it was genuinely scary.

Story of the Blanks, however, was FUCKING TERRIFYING. It pulled off grimdark brilliantly. It didn't need any blood or gore. It has subtlty. It had atmosphere.

It's like comparing Dead Space to Silent Hill.
