Nice first shark! the piers in galveston do yield bigger shark sometimes, but to fix your problem (loosing the shark) you need a bridge/pier gaff or a "hoop net" (crab net as they are also called, but if you do get a "Crab Net" make sure it is heavy duty) I have two that i bring with me to the pier, each cost me 15-20 at academy
Yep there are sharks all over the coast most of the ones here in south east tx are black tips and that was a keeper. You have to bleed the shark. Some people like it grilled with lemon pepper and juice I like mine sliced then and fried in zatarans cajun fish fry ;)

Hey my redish stomping ground! Seawolf park by the looks of it. Every time I go there I bring this huge nylon crab net to pull up the fish that are too heavey to get up otherwise. And EVERY time I go someone wants to use it because they are to stupid to bring theri own. They aren't that expensive people! I charge them a spider weight to use it :) haha

why did you got stunned, Galveston bay has sharks up to 600 pds just right on the seawall right in front of the beach!!!, but still a good one for been on the pier, and by the way , where is this pier? 61 ST?
Can you believe there is big shark like these near the shore of Galveston? I was on the pier fishing with my boyfriend Daniel when this huge shark ate our live shrimp. Thank God we had help from this man in the red shirt, my bf Daniel is wearing a white shirt his just amazed. I was stunned, too bad the line broke, so you swimmers be careful the shrak is still out there!!!
