I say you should put the plate back on, but before you do, spray paint it! If you sand off the smoothness and make some stencil cutout shaped "GHP", you'd have a more personalized controller, and to me, the plate reduces sound coming from the inner strumming mechanism, so you can hear the song better.

@LMSwarriors81 watch for the notes that have a big white light in the middle shining up brighter than usual, theyre called hammer ons and pull offs, you can take the tutorial in any gh game as well for some hands on training if you want to. hope this helps :)
