Wow. I serve in the USCG active duty. It is a military service, and all members are held accountable by the same UCMJ as all the branches under the DOD. It is a military service, but in order to perform its function it can NOT be under the DOD, as the DOD cannot police civilians. We are in the Middle East. We are not a fighting force, unless the pres. transfers us to the Navy in times of need. No apology from us when instead of killing people, we save lives. Tell me that's not noble.

Wow had to check my ID card, it says UNITED STATES UNIFORMED SERVICES, Coast Guard Retired. But I guess I was Prior Service US Navy 1973-1979, US Coast Guard 1983-2001

What I don't understand is how your respect for the coast guard can flip as easily as you were rejected Alex. If a person can at one point hold the USCG in such high regard then whether or not they choose to use you should have no factor on your respect for them.

i also say fuck the coast guard. i was more than willing to serve for them as it was my dream to go into the coast guard when i turned 17. even though i know i'm more competent than some fuck ups i know who are serving for our country, they turned me down because i was previously treated for an acute anxiety disorder. so if they don't want me then i say fuck em.

Just got out. I did 7yrs and 31 days active. I'm active reserves. Don't miss active at all. Coast is a good branch. If I had to chose two it would be the guard and the Air Force. To the guy talking junk. I think we took shot up you families drug boat in 2002.

Great video. They actually saved my life in 2002, to the last minute that I was able to keep my head above water after 7 hours of treading. I owe it to them, and the beach home owner who spotted me on a telescope. Waves were so big, I would've died trying to swim back to shore.
