I'm still stunned when I read something like "Ovie's better because he has better stats". First of all that's not true : their points-per-game average are pretty much equal. Second of all suspensions and injuries are part of the game. And to me the most important fact is that Sid never had a linemate like Backstrom (except Malkin and Hossa for a few weeks). So far this season Ovie has 8G9A in 13 games playing with Backstrom and Semin while Sid has 8G9A in 14 games playing with Kunitz and Dupuis

What does not prove anything is when their TEAM wins a playoff championship or an olympic tournament. Crosby won those two things because he happened to be on good overall teams. It's Team Canada's gold medal and the Penguins' Stanley Cup, not his.

So throw all the "what ifs" you like about if Ovie had played those 10 games, and I'll throw it back...Crosby beat Ovie while playing with at best second or third line wingers all season. "What if" Crosby had played with players of Backstrom's calibre or Semin's on his wing? How many more points would he have had?
