  • butterfly style does not seal over time ....go with the gear style!

  • Dont buy RRP cutouts.. They will fail after a few months. After my third set I'm using the JEGS now.

  • @Subw00er yeah, I had them fail almost every year, but their warranty has given me a new set every time. I just assume that whatever I purchase will fail (because of the nasty MI winters) and just the wear and tear you put on the cutouts by using them every day.

  • @jdtowns1 After my second replacement they told me they were going to honor their warranty because I drove my car in salty conditions.. Uhm, HELLO?! I live in NY, it snows here. So I guess the warranty only applies to the bottom 2/3rds of the country. Company support of their "lifetime" warranty is abysmal.

  • I am about to order my cutouts but they are asking me on how much of wiring i need, like the length, how much did you have approximately and which power source did you use? thanks!

  • @RKORoot No clue to either question... I took mine to a custom exhaust shop and they installed everything there, including the wiring. Charged me an arm an leg too! They did a great job, though, and everything is still working perfectly to this day. The one piece of advice I can give you is to make sure that they use a power source that is always on. This way you can open and close your cutouts before you start your car. Very good for surprising people or for not waking your neighbors!

  • question: why the metal plate above the cutouts? is that for heat protection or something?

  • @JohnT192

The pieces you are referring to were not added to the car - the 300C comes like that stock.

  • I just put the cutouts back on for the spring and can't believe how much I've missed them! During the winters I started to take them off, as the salt and cold would wreck havoc with the motors. I had a couple of caps made for the openings in the exhaust and I can do the switch with a simple socket wrench in my driveway in about 30 mins.

  • I'm purchasing a pair of Race Ready cut-outs because of the lifetime warranty.

  • hey great sound also u have the race ready cutouts they also have DMH and QTP cutouts which ones would u recommend due to ur experience Please Comment me Bak Thanks

  • I chose Race Ready due to their outstanding warranty. In my opinion, all cutouts will eventually leak and at that point, I would rather have a free replacement than shell out another $400.. I went through the replacement procedure and it was very quick and painless.

  • soo lets say i have it for a year and the motor gave out ..all i gotta do is tell them the motor died? cuz imdebating weather to get the qtp which is for 165 ..way cheaper or the RR which is 240 with lifetim warrenty ..please help me decide!

  • Yep - I've had a couple of motors go and you just have to ship the defective cutout into RRP and they will ship you out a new one. Seems like all cutouts start leaking and eventually go, so the lifetime warranty is especially important

  • @jdtowns1

funny they never send me out new units, mine have been leaking since day one, sent back 3 times and never resolved, the motor failed again last week, i tell everyone i know to avoid the POS cutouts

  • Do they set off you check enginge light when you open them? Or did you use O2 sensor simulators?

  • Nope - they have never set off the check engine light.. Now if you had said car alarms, that's a different story.

  • mint

  • I just came

  • was there a noticeable difference in power or not really? Nice looking setup, by far the cleanest i've seen.

  • definitely a loss of power... our cars were designed to run with some back pressure, so when you remove it, the car is slower. BUT - it sounds like it's going twice as fast, plus you actually feel the acceleration. my best mod yet!

  • @jdtowns1 my guess is, there is less low end torque until it reaches rpm which will take advantage of high flow, then you get added high end power which when driven in that rpm range yeilds a little more overall power.. Backpressure is not the advantage, it is inertial scavenging from the long fairly straight full exhaust system.

  • beautiful. Nice simple structure of dual exhaust, I'm making my Camaro the exact same layout.

    Nice 300c :D

  • Those look like Race Ready Performance cutouts. I just bought a set and can't wait to get them installed. Very COOL!

  • They are RRP cutouts and I must say - after 4 months of use, the novelty still has not worn off and I doubt it ever will!

  • What are electric cutouts? Did you do that? Lifting weights, pimping cars, you're such a meat head.

  • A cutout is an opening after a car's headers, which allows the engine exhaust to exit before going through the mufflers, greatly increasing the exhaust sound (also called "running open headers"). Electric cutouts make things easier by using a butterfly valve, which can be controlled via a switch inside the car. Now you can increase/decrease the sound of your exhaust at the flick of a switch!
