I don't remember exactly what I did since it's been 2 1/2 years ago, but I remember I 1st clamped the cord about a half inch from the belly, then tied with dental floss, then cut the cord. hope that helps

thanks. my pug had a puppy and even though we all read books like CRAZY, we still weren't sure if we had to tie it. we did cut it an inch away from the belly though. good thing is that he is perfectly healthy! :D

Yeah my cat,muffy she gave birth to 4 healthy kittens but 1 had froze to death it was overnight and we diddnt exspect it but the first batch came out at like 7:26 but the next morning just one more came so was april but too cold for the babies it froze under the window we miss him/her

My pug Roxie is in the process of delivering her puppies. So far two are already out of this wonderful dog's world. Funny that I got scared when she scream to deliver her first pup. I jumped to where I was sitting and woke up everybody in the house. As of this writing, a third pup just came out. I am praying that she will go through this ordeal and deliver those wonderful puppies without any complications.

I think it's an interesting idea that a small dog is pregnant with even smaller dogs. You know, like the Russian Matryoshka dolls - when you open them up, there is always a smaller doll inside and a smaller one and so on... :)

thats normal, its instinctive for her to clean up any remains. but you do have to be careful incase she gets too enthusiastic and hurts the pup by chewing too far. but she must be a great mum to keep 6 babies, ita alot for some small breeds to take care of!

The mother can actually do more harm then good...sometimes it is better to break the sac and cut the cord yourself then allow the pup to nurse or be put in a warm area....Small breeds can have an exceptionally difficult time AS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO!

They are helping the mother because dogs like Pugs, Boston Terriers, and Bulldogs are born with big heads and shoulders and can get stuck in the pelvis. I have a Boston whom had to be helped with her first litter cause they kept getting stuck.

Why is interfering seem to be a problem??? If we had not "interfered", she probably would have lost a few puppies since there were problems with her delivery. Also, all of the puppies survived just fine and are healthy, except for 1 with a cleft pallet that had to be put away.

wow..that was the craziest video. i just got a pug a week ago..he is now 3 months (as of today!) and his name is whiskey. his mom had only one litter, she had only 3. 2 girls then 12 hours later went into labour with him and he got stuck, had to have an emerg c-section and they chose to fix her at the same time cause the birth was too much for her. he now has an umblical hernia as a result.
