  • What are you on to do the lightsaber gimp.

  • @Aleksandraeris What do you mean? are you asking the program name? It's called Gimp 2.6.

  • Can I ask You, where I can Download Gimp 2.6 ? Please . . .

  • @Mimunko Youtube won't let me post the link in this comment, so just do a Google search for Gimp and you'll find it.

Also, check out my new lightsaber tutorial that's linked in the video via annotation!

  • @Kratos87Fan19 Thanks !

  • @Mimunko just google download gim pretty simple

  • how do you make your picture big ?? please i need help on gimp so can you make a video or tell me

  • @TheDeserteagle51 I don't understand. What do you mean by "how do you make your picture big"?

  • @Kratos87Fan19 my picture looks small the size only is w is 292 and h is 219 i do not know how to make it bigger

  • @TheDeserteagle51 Well, you'd have to scale it. You could probably go as high as 720x540 without too much loss of image quality. Look at the top bar on gimp and find where is says "Image", then select "Scale Image". Where it says "Image Size", type in the resolution you want and make sure the little chain thing that's right next to it in clicked (you'll know because it'll appear attached). Then select "Scale". Hope that helped!

  • thanks

  • Sucks that Gimp isn't a video graphics editor as well.

  • Amazing video. It worked perfectly!

  • It works, man. not only for lightsabers but also on my Gundam's beam saber :D

  • @ltballsack123 You mean how did I take a picture of myself? I used a digital camera. If you mean how to open the picture in Gimp: you just open Gimp, go to file>open, and find whatever picture you want to open.

  • Hehehe... Gimp...

  • It dosnt works ;( i cant find the lightsaber the screen is just black

  • @jonaden5 If you follow this tutorial exactly, than it most certainly will work. Did you add a new layer and set the color to black? Did you set the mode of that layer to screen? If you did and the screen is still black, than you must be doing something wrong.

  • @Kratos87Fan19 Do you have the new version gimp 2,6? and if u have cant you make an new video with how to do?

  • @jonaden5 The process shouldn't be that different between versions. I don't have the new Gimp and I have no plans to download it because I don't use it that often anymore. Even if I did, I no longer have a proper screen capture program to record a tutorial with. If my video didn't help you, than you'll just have to look for a different tutorial.

  • @Kratos87Fan19 Just did this in newest version of GIMP. Works perfectly fine. Dude did something wrong somewhere. I would be he forgot to set his layer mode to screen.

  • it works:D

  • @acoacek12 I'm glad!

  • @Kratos87Fan19 tank you verry motch!!! i l'ove this vidéo =)

  • good tutorial thanks bro

  • shit looks complacated

  • @loserjr79 It's not nearly as complicated as it looks.

  • favorited..

  • DUDE!! THANK YOU VEEEEEEERY MUCH!!!! YOU HELPED ME ALOOOOOT!!! THANKS SOOOO MUCH, MAN, THANKS SO MUCH!!!

  • layers that were my greatest problem, very good explanation.great tutorial.thanks a lot man

  • just what i needed.great tutorial.thanks a lot man

  • thanks dude

  • Its easyer with paint.NET

  • is GIMP free? or do you need to pay for it?

  • @ABC1231521 yes, Gimp is freeware available for both Windows and Mac.

  • @CrazyChuck101 In gimp? Sure, you'll need Quicktime Pro to convert the video into individual frames, do the effect for each frame, then re-compile them in Quicktime Pro to make the video. Then, you'll need to use a video editing program to add the sounds effects (which you can find by google searching). Although, I'd recommend Adobe After Effects or Blender to do the effects as they will look much better.

  • Rob SchnEider is ...a STAPLER !

  • why do people ask what the program name when its CLEARLY IN THE TITLE

    fuckin noobs

  • what is the name of this program?

  • @SysRqable Gimp

  • @Kratos87Fan19 thanks man:D

  • i did what you said!but it was just a picture when i clicked open image sequence

  • @thebouncerplayer Tell me exactly what you did.

  • @Kratos87Fan19 i exported the poster frame of the video and opened it in gimp then i did the effect and went back and clicked import image sequence

  • @thebouncerplayer The poster frame, no you have to export the entire video to image sequence. That would create a picture for every frame of footage. Take for instance a video that's 5 seconds long with a framerate of 24 frames per second: that would be about 120 frames thus 120 pictures. You'd have to do the effect for all the pictures, not just the poster frame. Before you do that however, be sure to create a folder to put them in, you don't won't all those pics cluttering up your desktop.

  • what is fps kratos87fan19?

  • @thebouncerplayer FPS = Frames Per Second. Film in the theater runs at 24 FPS, NTSC DVD runs at about 29.97 to 30 FPS, and PAL DVD runs at 25 FPS.

I'm on a Mac, so I'm not sure how Quicktime works on Windows. Open the video in quicktime, select 'Window' and then select 'Show movie inspector'. That will tell you the FPS for that video.

  • how do you do that on video????

  • @BNbeachboy123 With Quicktime Pro, export a video of someone fighting with sicks or whatever as an image sequence to a folder on your desktop. That turns every frame into a single picture. Then import the pictures into Gimp and do the lightsaber effect like in this video. After you're finished, open Quicktime and tell it to open image sequence. Be sure to select the same FPS as the original video, and export it. Then put it into a video editing program like iMovie or WMM for the sound effects.

  • @Kratos87Fan19 how do you do that?

  • @thebouncerplayer How do you export a video as an Image Sequence? Open the video in Quicktime Pro, and then just select 'Image Sequence' in the 'Export' drop down menu. Then select 'Options' and choose what format to use (Jpeg, PNG, etc).

  • @Kratos87Fan19 well i can not seem to do what you say can i just email the vid to you?

  • @thebouncerplayer Sorry, but I can't do that. I'll just make a tutorial on how to make lightsaber movies with Gimp 2.6.

  • @Kratos87Fan19 do you know when?

  • @thebouncerplayer I can't say for sure, I have A LOT of things going on right now.

  • Hmm - that makes it look easy even if it takes a while. By first looking at GIMP, it doesn't work like Paintshop Pro or other similar programs, until you know how to use it. I don't... :)

  • they have a script now called Blade-Rotoscope that does a GREAT job with the lughtsaber effect and its alot easier done than this

  • @quintonbob where do i find the script

  • Final product came out looking nice.

  • Awesome thanks.

  • Very neat.

    Usefull for movie making.

  • this is neat. thanks
