@Moothead2 steal needle fork off of Zangnol and make sure Freya wins the festival so u get coral ring. I personally made it to Ozma with a level 1 party then just got too lazy to go any further lol

@oscureboy my high dealt damage comes from me using attacks that deal damage based on other factors than lvl (read my previous comments). I learned abilities by farming AP, which is done by petrifying the enemy (this gives ap, not exp). I can also kill enemies while having my entire party with virus status, this prevents exp. How to get money? Pretty much sell everything i don't need. like equipment and other loot you get throughout the game.

@oscureboy PETRIFY: Easy, having Zidane equip the weapon Sargatanas and using the skill Soul Blade gives you a 100% chance of petrifying the enemy, and works on almost all enemies.
MONEY: selling equipment i don't need, helps some. Selling Phoenix Pinions and Ethers helps alot.
POTIONS and other items: Can easily be stolen from enemies, or just bought from the store since money won't be a big problem anyways.
@oscureboy VIRUS: I got this on my whole party by fighting against the enemy called Yan (on the little island I'm sure you know about where you can also encounter a friendly Yan). Then I had to wait for them to use virus on my characters, and then flee from battle. Virus status doesnt disappear even if the character dies, so this is no problem at all.
@oscureboy Yeah, let me answer you . Lv1 but skill Thievery, Dragon Crest is not about your stats, Dragon Crest, the more Dragon type monster you kill, the more damage you raise-->9999. Theivery, the more successful of steal, the more damage you raise-> can be 9999. but takes you 9-12 hours to train. Dark Matter will do 9999 damage all time. Quina limit glove have 9999 dam if her/his HP = 1(easy to make quina hp=1 if use auto-life). Gold can be have if you synth 99 Cotton Robe then sell it
@oscureboy Abbility can farm for 4 Character to max if you find all 8 Friendly Monster in the World Map. Each monster give you 30-40 AP, and if you have [Ability Up], you can have double AP after each monster. Another is Oeilvert, this place has the monster like a cupboard of Stone, use Soft on it then you will get 2AP and 0 EXP, try this to have AP before kill Ark. Go to Crystal World in Memorial, zidane equip Sagatanas and use SoulBlade on monster then you will have 7AP and 0EXP !
@oscureboy I think you are noob of FF9 because you dont know the effect of Virus and Zombie Status, 2 these status can make your character have 0 EXP after all Battle. Before power up for Dragon Crest, you must go to meet 1 Yan, and have pattient until he cast Virus Power on all characters, All characters have Virus Status will not have EXP and AP, you can use this Status to keep your level = before go to Memorial !
@Suzumushi100 I ran from all the random battles (Zidane's Flee ability helps alot). Boss battles don't give exp in this game. There are some, non-optional battles that can't be avoided, and for those i had to use petrify/stop etc. to get past without gaining exp.
this is not possible. u have no choice of gaining xp so zidane has to be higher than lvl 1... idk how u did this but if its animated or something then u did an amazing job... im still givin this thumbs up.
@BlackCoffin099 no this is possible what you have to do is flee all battles the ones you cant flee from you have to kill of all of your party members but 1 then stop using the char that lvled up or use stop/petrefye (those 2 spells stop from getting exp and ap) then when possible have the very bad status element VIRUS casted on you which stops from gaining exp or ap
@demonduri Phoenix cannot be summoned manually by the player, it only appears randomly when your party is wiped out. Luckily for me, that happened in this fight. :P
@Nevnarion Actually, it CAN be summoned. Eiko learns that summon equiping a certain item.
And it doesn't simply appear randomly. It can appear randomly, BUT ONLY IF you have Eiko in your team with an ability equiped. "Mogus' power" I think it was, or something like that.
i was extremely disappointed, necron didnt once use grand cross on me! beating him was extremely easy. same thing for ozma, i beat him without shadow absorption armor, didnt need it cause he didnt ever use doomsday, both times that i killed him!
Phoenix appears from time to time on a fairly random basis. Having many phoenix pinions in your inventory raises the chances of it appearing tho. But all in all a good piece of luck. :)
@jotkut1 Actually, Frog Drop damage is based on this [Quina's level multiplied by how many frogs she've caught] That means she would need 9999 frogs to get that damage in Lv. 1. It takes a long time just getting 100 frogs.
He uses attacks lika Freia's DRagon Crest, which deals damage one the amount of how many dragons you've killed in the game ( I suppose, I'va to look it up) and Zidane's attack deals damage which depends on how many treasures you find in the game. Perfect for beating the game on Lvl 1.
You can also beat dragons without gaining lvl with having a the illness (I thinkit#s called like this in englisch) vaczin.^^

Just because he's that good doesn't mean he uses a gameshark. If he were using one, don't ya think that MAYBE he'd be using an Infinite HP trick, or all best weapons?

Final Fantasies are copied all of the time! Why do you think they are so similar? They have at least 10 with Bahamut, Ifrit, Shiva and Ramuh, and there are many more! A lot of it is based on Greek Mythology. For instance, did you know that 80% of the over used summon come from greek mythology? Shiva was the goddess of destruction, she was not an ice goddess, but she was petrified by Medusa's head. Bahamut was the Greek version of the Behemoth, it was a sea monster though. Greece had them first!
Ifrit and Bahamut are derivatives of Arab mythology. Bahamut is a variation of Behemoth, but neither of them are Greek. Bahamut is Arab and Behemoth is Hebrew.
Shiva is of Hindu tradition, as well as Ramuh (somewhat). Shiva is male and never had any contact with Medusa--ever. They're not even from the same part of the world; they're from completely different cultures.

Howdo you get "Rebirth Flame" to work? Is it Mog's ability from Ribbon?
I haven't read guides except for one partiular moment in Desert Palace, I'm level 52 at most, and I can't even beat Death Gaze, would you say that is a good example?
Rebirth Flame seems to be pretty random, but there is actually a formula for the odds for it to appear. It depends on the number of phoenix pinions you have in your inventory. You divide the number of your Phoenix Pinions by 258 then multiply that by 100. This gives you the percentage chance for phoenix to appear. If you have 99 pinions, the chance is 38.3%

I got Ragnarok and I want and need Shock. I have done it once but which Chocograph was it? The specific one please if possible. I did the entire Chocograph Section the first time by myself by flying the Hilda Garde and swapping the view to what it looks like in the Chocograph and then finding the footprints and landing in the closest grass, but I need the info to get Shock again. I have Steiner's Ultima weapon (it's not called that though but it has Ultima in the name)
necron on a first playthrough with no guides can be really tough. Even memoria can be tough if you don't know what your doing. I was 9 when i did my first playthrough and i had never played any FF games or anything like it and i remember how hard it was, i came back last year to beat it. played through the game, levelled, learned abilities, then the game was pretty easy, but he's hard if u dont cheat on first playthrough or arent experienced at this game
I haven't read all the comments so sorry if I'm repeating things, but I'm not a great fan of this strategy - when I did this (which was admittedly in 2001/2 so my memory is a bit hazy) my party was Zidane, Amarant, Quina and Eiko, I stole enough to have Thievery deal 9999 and had Zidane equip a bunch of status protections plus Auto-Life...
...Then in the battle Eiko was fodder (if people are KO'd he doesn't seem to use the elemental spells), Amarant/Quina would cast Aura/Auto-Life or occasionally use an Elixir, and Zidane used Thievery unless he was the only one standing in which case he revived Amarant. I would win close to 100% of the time like that, the only danger being that Quina/Amarant would get some nasty statuses from Grand Cross that would screw me over.
If you people would stop powerleveling in your first playthrough and reading guides to get all the "uber-mega-super-weapons", you would see how hard this guy can be with a level 40 party.
he is by no means hard ... even with a lv 1 party as here...... oh and getting all the uber mega super nad bla bla bla stuff is for completion ??? ..... you can do a challenge if you want .. lol.... it's your first playthrough as you said.... and it was annoying to have such an easy boss as the last one ... he can't be hard ... only if you use uber super mega restrictions .. i.e no magic stones and low level together .. lol again no offence :)
i was talking about the first playthrough, and he IS medium-hard on your first playthrough if you aren't THAT overleveld.
He was 10000% harder than Kefka, Ultimecia, Sephiroth or this one-hit-kill-Orb in FF10. And they were all fucking easy, even if the random-monsters in their dungeons were killing you with one hit due to your low level.
I did beat this guy with a level 1 party as well, but you need a lot of luck, skill, patience and preparation to manage this. So there is no way you could set this in comparison with a normal first playthrough.
In addition, there were some spells/weapons you were just NOT ABLE to get without guides. So when you say you ganked him with Zidanes Ultima-weapon, then you would have been using guides, which is pretty embarissing when youre on a first playthrough.
Hmm, I don't really remember. I did this so many years ago. But I started on it late summer, and beat Ozma a few months later. Then I got tired and had a long break, before I picked it up again in spring and beat the game early that summer.
You can beat him with even 40 lvl party if u know some things. Try to check FF groups with google. That helped me out. Now second time beating game going on. :) ^^

Random-ish comment: The moaning in the music on that battle makes me want to sit there flopating in that world while the battles going on, moaning out loud, making cow sounds, and generally weirding everyone and everything out. LOL. AAAOOAAAAAHARGAHOOOOOO.
It's possible because I ran from all the random battles. Characters all start at level 1 as long as you keep them all at that level (since their level depends on other's). some non optional battles give experience, the solution there is to petrify or stop the enemies, so that you don't get exp even when you win. Normal boss battles don't give exp at all. There are a lot of details and tricks, but I hope that gave you a pretty good picture.

Of course my low mp makes it difficult, that's one of the main things about this whole level 1 concept, making things like that harder.
And yes, you are true about that, I had to level up 3 people in Memoria, but that's not possible to get around, so if that's what you call a true level 1 game, then we can both agree here and now that a "true level 1 game" is absolutely impossible. (unless you choose to use gameshark or other ways of cheating)
how do u guys even get to lvl 1 in da first place? i tried to but its no use i keep growing levels. my first file i finished 98% the only thing im missing is beating hades and ozma or i have every weapon/item/amour/accessory. everything. i started a new file and i tried to stay on lvl 1 but its no use. You stay level 1 by constantly always running from random battles. Boss battles usually don't give experience. There are, however, some non-optional battles around that gives experience, and in those you have to use different tactics, such as petrify and stop abilites to win the fight.
1. nova dragon wasn't really a problem. Just went with the usual strategy using limit glove and dragon's crest, as well as having Zidane put it to sleep with ultima weapon+soul blade. Also had Vivi cast Blizzaga on it. Also important to have your party equipped with Ribbon.
2. At this point of the game, Vivi had learned stop, making this fight against the black mages a lot easier than it was back in Gizamaluke, where I had to rely on Quina's Needle fork + add status (causing petrify). :)

Lol, this is incredible. How can someone be so blind? Changing my story? I have always said that I used both virus and petrify. But each for different purposes. Petrify was used to gain AP to power up abilites, Virus was used to train Dragon's Crest, which requires you to actually KILL dragons, not just petrify them.

I learned abilites by fighting monsters and PETRIFY them. That gives AP, but no exp. If you want to deserve to call yourself a ff fanatic, you should know that. So congrats, you just made an epic fail at trying to convince anyone that you know everything about this game. Because obviously you don't.
yeah I had eiko in my party for the end of the game, and when I was fighting kraken, she died and was dead for a while, but out of nowhere phoenix came out of nowhere and revived her, how does that work? for a second I thought it was guardian mog, how does that ability work anyway?

@Suzumushi100 I ran from all the random battles (Zidane's Flee ability helps alot). Boss battles don't give exp in this game. There are some, non-optional battles that can't be avoided, and for those i had to use petrify/stop etc. to get past without gaining exp.

this is not possible. u have no choice of gaining xp so zidane has to be higher than lvl 1... idk how u did this but if its animated or something then u did an amazing job... im still givin this thumbs up.

@BlackCoffin099 no this is possible what you have to do is flee all battles the ones you cant flee from you have to kill of all of your party members but 1 then stop using the char that lvled up or use stop/petrefye (those 2 spells stop from getting exp and ap) then when possible have the very bad status element VIRUS casted on you which stops from gaining exp or ap

@demonduri Phoenix cannot be summoned manually by the player, it only appears randomly when your party is wiped out. Luckily for me, that happened in this fight. :P

@Nevnarion Actually, it CAN be summoned. Eiko learns that summon equiping a certain item.
And it doesn't simply appear randomly. It can appear randomly, BUT ONLY IF you have Eiko in your team with an ability equiped. "Mogus' power" I think it was, or something like that.

i was extremely disappointed, necron didnt once use grand cross on me! beating him was extremely easy. same thing for ozma, i beat him without shadow absorption armor, didnt need it cause he didnt ever use doomsday, both times that i killed him!

Phoenix appears from time to time on a fairly random basis. Having many phoenix pinions in your inventory raises the chances of it appearing tho. But all in all a good piece of luck. :)

@jotkut1 Actually, Frog Drop damage is based on this [Quina's level multiplied by how many frogs she've caught] That means she would need 9999 frogs to get that damage in Lv. 1. It takes a long time just getting 100 frogs.

EIko's starting level is based on the average level of the other characters you have when you get her. As they are all level 1, so will she be.

Gameshark? Not really...
He uses attacks lika Freia's DRagon Crest, which deals damage one the amount of how many dragons you've killed in the game ( I suppose, I'va to look it up) and Zidane's attack deals damage which depends on how many treasures you find in the game. Perfect for beating the game on Lvl 1.
You can also beat dragons without gaining lvl with having a the illness (I thinkit#s called like this in englisch) vaczin.^^
So gameshark is not used in here^^

Final Fantasies are copied all of the time! Why do you think they are so similar? They have at least 10 with Bahamut, Ifrit, Shiva and Ramuh, and there are many more! A lot of it is based on Greek Mythology. For instance, did you know that 80% of the over used summon come from greek mythology? Shiva was the goddess of destruction, she was not an ice goddess, but she was petrified by Medusa's head. Bahamut was the Greek version of the Behemoth, it was a sea monster though. Greece had them first!

I think you might have a few things mixed up.
Ifrit and Bahamut are derivatives of Arab mythology. Bahamut is a variation of Behemoth, but neither of them are Greek. Bahamut is Arab and Behemoth is Hebrew.
Shiva is of Hindu tradition, as well as Ramuh (somewhat). Shiva is male and never had any contact with Medusa--ever. They're not even from the same part of the world; they're from completely different cultures.
Just clearing the air, and from the looks of it, there was a LOT to clear up.

Howdo you get "Rebirth Flame" to work? Is it Mog's ability from Ribbon?
I haven't read guides except for one partiular moment in Desert Palace, I'm level 52 at most, and I can't even beat Death Gaze, would you say that is a good example?

Rebirth Flame seems to be pretty random, but there is actually a formula for the odds for it to appear. It depends on the number of phoenix pinions you have in your inventory. You divide the number of your Phoenix Pinions by 258 then multiply that by 100. This gives you the percentage chance for phoenix to appear. If you have 99 pinions, the chance is 38.3%

I did the entire Chocograph Section the first time by myself by flying the Hilda Garde and swapping the view to what it looks like in the Chocograph and then finding the footprints and landing in the closest grass, but I need the info to get Shock again. necron on a first playthrough with no guides can be really tough. Even memoria can be tough if you don't know what your doing. I was 9 when i did my first playthrough and i had never played any FF games or anything like it and i remember how hard it was, i came back last year to beat it. played through the game, levelled, learned abilities, then the game was pretty easy, but he's hard if u dont cheat on first playthrough or arent experienced at this game

I haven't read all the comments so sorry if I'm repeating things, but I'm not a great fan of this strategy - when I did this (which was admittedly in 2001/2 so my memory is a bit hazy) my party was Zidane, Amarant, Quina and Eiko, I stole enough to have Thievery deal 9999 and had Zidane equip a bunch of status protections plus Auto-Life...

...Then in the battle Eiko was fodder (if people are KO'd he doesn't seem to use the elemental spells), Amarant/Quina would cast Aura/Auto-Life or occasionally use an Elixir, and Zidane used Thievery unless he was the only one standing in which case he revived Amarant. I would win close to 100% of the time like that, the only danger being that Quina/Amarant would get some nasty statuses from Grand Cross that would screw me over.
Still a good job though!

He was 10000% harder than Kefka, Ultimecia, Sephiroth or this one-hit-kill-Orb in FF10. And they were all fucking easy, even if the random-monsters in their dungeons were killing you with one hit due to your low level.

I did beat this guy with a level 1 party as well, but you need a lot of luck, skill, patience and preparation to manage this. So there is no way you could set this in comparison with a normal first playthrough.
In addition, there were some spells/weapons you were just NOT ABLE to get without guides. So when you say you ganked him with Zidanes Ultima-weapon, then you would have been using guides, which is pretty embarissing when youre on a first playthrough.
And btw, FF7 was shit.

Hmm, I don't really remember. I did this so many years ago. But I started on it late summer, and beat Ozma a few months later. Then I got tired and had a long break, before I picked it up again in spring and beat the game early that summer.

You can beat him with even 40 lvl party if u know some things. Try to check FF groups with google. That helped me out. Now second time beating game going on. :) ^^

It's possible because I ran from all the random battles. Characters all start at level 1 as long as you keep them all at that level (since their level depends on other's). some non optional battles give experience, the solution there is to petrify or stop the enemies, so that you don't get exp even when you win. Normal boss battles don't give exp at all. There are a lot of details and tricks, but I hope that gave you a pretty good picture.

Of course my low mp makes it difficult, that's one of the main things about this whole level 1 concept, making things like that harder.
And yes, you are true about that, I had to level up 3 people in Memoria, but that's not possible to get around, so if that's what you call a true level 1 game, then we can both agree here and now that a "true level 1 game" is absolutely impossible. (unless you choose to use gameshark or other ways of cheating)

You stay level 1 by constantly always running from random battles. Boss battles usually don't give experience. There are, however, some non-optional battles around that gives experience, and in those you have to use different tactics, such as petrify and stop abilites to win the fight.

1. nova dragon wasn't really a problem. Just went with the usual strategy using limit glove and dragon's crest, as well as having Zidane put it to sleep with ultima weapon+soul blade. Also had Vivi cast Blizzaga on it. Also important to have your party equipped with Ribbon.
2. At this point of the game, Vivi had learned stop, making this fight against the black mages a lot easier than it was back in Gizamaluke, where I had to rely on Quina's Needle fork + add status (causing petrify). :)

Lol, this is incredible. How can someone be so blind? Changing my story? I have always said that I used both virus and petrify. But each for different purposes. Petrify was used to gain AP to power up abilites, Virus was used to train Dragon's Crest, which requires you to actually KILL dragons, not just petrify them.

no frog drop for quina? 9999 frogs x level 1 quina equal 9999 damage will do that much to him.

I got a lot of money by selling items, equipment etc. that I obtained through the game from chest and such. :)
