  • That is a true statement made by WC7495 i have heard that from CP employees at Minot ND that i met. But then i wonder why are the cefx leased sd90/43macs allowed to run in the states.

  • They must have utilized different engine parts. I think CEFX/CIT has been having a fire sale on their SD9043MACs, since the company is bankrupt. A few went to INRD and at least one other US shortline. Some may still be on the BNSF and UP, but I think CP returned theirs.

  • Today, CITX has the GE SD70M-2. I think there is only 2 or 3 SD70M-2 painted as CITX.

  • Correct, CITX 140-142. I believe they are now leased to the FEC.

  • Last I heard, CP still had them, but they were stored.

  • Nice to see a great shot of two SD-90's running together in CP colors (or colours, if you're Canadian!) as they seem to be all gone now (at least we don't see them anymore at Bensenville where I work for the Soo Line as an engineer). In fact, what happened to CP's SD-90's? Nobody seems to know!

  • Rumor is that US enviromental laws kept them north of the border starting in 2005 (?)

  • It is due to the EPA Tier 0 Regulations that went into effect in 2005. CP's SD9043MAC engine parts are not Tier 0 compliant.

  • They have been relegated to Canadian service since 2005 due to the EPA Tier 0 regulations that year, and then stored in 2008/2009 due to economic conditions. CP was dissatisfied with their performance compared to the AC4400s, anyways.

  • I saw as recently as May of this year (2009) a CEFX SD-90 as part of a consist from the north heading into the CP's Bensenville yard. Do these SD-90's fall within the EPA's Tier 0 conditions that Fullglottalstop has noted the CP's SD-90's do not?
