this beautiful piece of powerfully expressive music is not nearly long enough. i think i just rediscovered my soul. and it is soaring! thank you Karl and Miriam
@robertgift More the longest time, I thought this group was of Africen origin. I guess they're actually Welsh, but it was a surprise to me. Still, they make beautiful music.
@Kraele the music is actually partly african in origin. Karl Jenkins that composes the music uses european stuff like using a choris, in his music, but for Adiemus he puts a more thrid world twist on it by relying on some more 3rdworld themed music like african with less classically trained singing, and more of a joyous chorus with some african themes in it. Jenkins talks about it in an interview if you look for it.
@RobinB84 what notes are you talking about? i took the liberty of looking in the booklets inside both the cds for this album and songs of sanctuary. in neither did it say it was all miriam. nor do i see why it would be. adiemus is a group of 6 singers, and i dont see why they would have her all parts of one track. anyhow, it sounds more like a group of different voices that stay tightly together rather than one voice.
"The session singer Miriam Stockley performed the vocal parts on the first four albums. Additional vocals were provided by Mary Carewe on all but Dances of Time, which saw the introduction of the Finnish Adiemus Singers (who would later reappear on Vocalise). Extra vocals and the chorus effects were created by overdubbing multitracked recordings of the singers (in some cases up to forty times) and varying the speed of the tape." -Wikipedia
I am trying to join a special choir that only does the stuff from karl jenkins but its soooo hard D:

@Kraele And apparently I can't spell African right. XD

@Kraele The performing singers are Finnish, the composer is Welsh.

@sinituuke Ohh, I gotcha. Still, I'm surprised their not African. They sure sing like an African choir!
Kraele 7 months ago
@Kraele That's apparently done on purpose. They're pretty amazing.
I'm just waiting for my own voice to mature from this Minnie Mouse pitch so I can join a choir like that. :)

@Grietepetit Funny, for this is sung by only ONE singer. But recorded in multiple parts. Very well done.
RobinB84 11 months ago
@RobinB84 naw, its a small chorus of singers. one voice and then rerecording it many times is what enya does.
Gawaine687 11 months ago
@Gawaine687 It is Miriam Stockley that's singing. You only hear her voice. You should read the liner notes of the album, it's true. :-)
